My folks had luggage like that. And you are right, that good-old smell they had is very distinct & memorable. And those stretch pockets they used to place on the inside. Brings back a lot of memories. You did a great job in re-doing your spare bedroom. Such a unique idea to turn that suitcase into the top of an end table.
