Those were coriander seeds!
I only gave a thumbs down because this is supposed to be a secret for real..

I've seen this place but never stopped in. Definitely checking it out next time I'm in NYC! Thanks for the review!
With paratha bread use DAHI (India yoghurt) or ryaata ( dahin mixed with tomato and other things ) .Indians can't eat paratha without dahi and achaar .use DAHI. it's heaven .

Hi to all my new viewers from India !! Smash that like button above and let me know if you want more Indian Food Videos in NYC !!
I am from South India. I can definitely say Aloo paratha and Samosa are awesome when it comes from Punjab. They are very good cooks when it comes to potato/Aloo 😍
Being a PUNJABI guy myself. It was so pleasant to speaking guys Punjabi language in background like HOR DASSO.
And even good to see they Kept all the Punjabi names. Like SAMOSA and Aloo Tikki oppose to having fancy English names.
Calling those items in Punjabi really gives you essence of the Environment of Punjab.
Would love to visit here when I get chance to come to NYC
you know you stepped into a Desi shop when you feel the environment. amazing.
Don't know why people are comparing india and Ny price difference... Do you know how expensive Us is? You charge as per the locality... You will Also get the same samosa for 400 in Taj hotel in mumbai.. so comparing the price is pointless..
@Alpha Square How is it expensive by US standard. Look for Purchasing Power Parity ( India is 5 times cheaper than US ) In USA you need to have proper hygeine , use fresh oil and obviously those things don't come cheap. Even the vegetables and raw material is expensive there. You are more likely to get meat cheaper than vegetables . They need to pay more in rent and obviously a lot more in various registration and other charges.
Alpha Square not expensive at all. He got a whole meal for $6.50 and that’s in NY which is one of the most expensive place in the USA if not the world.
Purchasing power...
What you can do in $1 and Rs 1...don’t compare...
their payment is much higher than us ...b/c raw veg. is very costly ..........
This is considered cheap for Lower Manhattan, hence the Living Cheap in New York part of the video.

To add to the meal
Masala tea ask to add ginger and cardamom
Kulfi in summer months
Gulab Jamoon hot sweet in winter

Here Be Barr my comment online got everyone’s attention when I said it’s the only place in nyc you can find hipsters, Wall Street yuppies, drunk girls, and cab drivers at 2am
Thank You : )
I love India 🇮🇳 food we have the best India 🇮🇳 in here and it’s reasonable price🤗🤗🤗😋😋😋and delicious 🤤🇨🇦
I used to live around the corner from there in the 90's, and loved that place! Spent many a late night there devouring the cheap and delicious food - really awesome! The Samosa chickpea was my favorite. I really miss not being closer and able to stop in any time like I used to be able to do.
My daughter lives in that apartment house and she’s a vegetarian... she’s loves that place.
It was not spinach, it was coriander seed; the guy didn’t knew English bro!!!
Yes you are right. Because when he said spinach, I was like what???😂😂😂 then when I saw ahead it was cilantro or coriander
Didn't know..(Not Didn't knew) :P

Exactly. I hate those seeds so I specially look for them so that I could take them out before eating.
Probably that guy didn’t get the name of those seeds so he said these are spinach seeds.

Wrong! These are not Cumin Seeds but Carom Seeds which we call Ajwain in Hindi.

India=Heaven for vegetarians!
Also for non vegetarians. Don't stereotype
70% Indians are non veg
@@jaikumar848 30% are veg, thats huge by large margin so thats why people highlight this.. no stereotype
Not really....many indians eat meat outside their home.
@@jaikumar848 no it's 50 %
It's not pronounced Poon Job. It supposed to sound like. Pun Job
There's an acceptable way and a more authentic way.. neither is how you've written it 😂
Pun Jab (not the boxing jab)
Yes! its crazy how people always get this wrong because we're able to correctly say things like "no pun intended", "punish", and then PUNjab is pronounced POONjab, why? Even when I tell people I'm Punjabi, they'll pronounce it back to me incorrectly. "Oh you're POONjabi?" nope, cause that's not a thing.
Its pronounced Pun like Bun and Jab is like Jaab
The west borrowed our indian numerals 1 to zero and threw away the highly unmanageable inefficient Roman numerals ( I II IV V M C etc).
They missed taking up our indian script Sanskrit or Devanagari script. Most Phonetically correct script in the world .What you read is 100 percent same as what is written .Roman script especially for English and French is notoriously unscientific .
By the way the ancient Greek word for Punjab region of India was Pentapotomia Land of five rivers which is what Punjab also means Panch Aab .But called Sapta Sindhu land of seven rivers in ancient Indian texts
Thanks for highlighting some vegetarian options. As a vegetarian, I always like to hear recommendations. That place looks fab, and I’m definitely going to try it next time that I am in the East Village!
You're welcome.
Places like this is why I love New York
Very helpful for a student like me living in NYC
Oh for sure
Your channel is very underrated!!! thaks for all we can see here in your videos!!!
Thanks !!
Misconceptions amongst all my foreigner friends - All Indian Foods are not spicy, all indians are not vegetarian's !!!
Most of the Indians are and the Indians who say themselves as non vegetarian don't eat meat on daily basis .it's not part of their daily diet and major diet (except some coast areas and remote hilly areas in North East and himalayas )..... Indians eat lot of veggies and other stuff .the one who says the are non vegetarian are the one who's don't have problem eating meat and that is why India is on Bottom in percaptia meat consumption even though 60-70% are said to be non vegetarian
@humanityexists that is because we dont depend a lot of tax rebate and citizen's tax money to subsidized it like USA does .meat is always expensive to produce than its vegetarian /vegan counterpart
@humanityexists meat can never be cheaper than veggies .veggies are also mass produced in USA . A large number of farms and land is used just to feed animals that are later killed for consumption.meat can never be cheaper.in USA it's cheaper than it should be because it's subsidized .govt gives large subsidy to farmers .meat can never be cheaper bro .it's basis thing
@humanityexists no brother meat is not more expensive.. available at genuine prices.. Like 70-90/kg(1-1.4$)..india are so diverse and consumption of meat depend of many factors.. Like coastal areas.. There are so much seafood available. That's why in. Coastal are sea food iconsumption is high than basic. Meat
But when go towards Central or North Indian vegetaion is good.. People grow there vege in large numbers. so there vegetarian numbers is high.. When you go east there meat consumption is totally different.. When you go in himalayan regions.. They eat different types of meat....
One more reason.. Non vegetarian are also different type in India 😂.
1. Eat only egg
2. Eat meat only Monday, Wednesday, Sunday..
@humanityexists brother in India vegetables are available according to seasona.. So it's cheaper And farmers grow vegetables in large numbers only to sell in city and those people who live in rural India they grow there own vegetables in there garden.
And Macdonald consider as luxury food in 2010-2012.. Now Macdonald, domino's, and are common in city area.. And know it's expending in small city also..
Tal’s gotta be loving this compared to that Indian food experience that put him outta commission 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣 yes I told him that
Definitely
My first Indian food meal was in NYC in the 1990's (I lived in CT at the time and frequented the city often) at some hole in the wall that came highly recommended. It was okay, but there was a pasty texture to it, and I haven't touched Indian food since. What you're eating looks really good. I may have to re-visit Indian food.
You are stupid i must say
Indian food has got so much to offer. Biriyani, tandoori, kabab, chicken tikka and the list is never ending. And you are stuck at a single dish.
@@AniruddhaB Yeah, calling someone stupid is a great way to introduce them to your culture and food. I know English is probably the 3rd or 4th language for most of us Indians and sometimes words don't carry the same weight for us but still plz be careful when you use certain words. Be helpful, not critical of someone who doesn't know enough about our food or culture. And try to learn about other cultures if possible.
"i'm trying it now" your tone was so funny haha! you were like ok nope it's my turn
jajajaj
6:22 is probably cilantro/coriander. Spinach is not usually used in Samosa.
That looked amazing! I enjoy both of you doing videos together - lots of fun.

samosa in USA = $1.5 ~ ₹105
samosa in India = ₹15 ~ $0.21
In Lahore, Pakistan, 2 samosas for 30 cents. And that too with chick pea and tamarind sauces and salad.
Wrong ..here samosa is 80 RS ..if you buy from clean shop ..not from roadside
@@NitzVision ofcourse, if you go to 5star hotel or any fancy restaurants, it's not a surprise if you are charged ~₹125-₹150 a piece.. it's your prerogative.. just saying how much an avg. Indian pays for a samosa

It’s typically $3 for a samosa in USA 🇺🇸

Was the yougurt curry he was talking about Kadi chawal coz I've never heard it being described in those words 😂
Right
Spinach definitely does not have seeds. Likely he confused coriander seeds or some lentils with spinach seeds. McCain makes frozen Aloo tikkis in India may be they should export it to NYC. Haha.
I am getting hungry and I just had breakfast. Cool video and great find.

So nice to see your videos.
I am taking notes which will be helpful for me when I'll be there.!!
My Brothers of Punjabi origin are not money minded, they are charging the cheapest meal in New York, one of the most expensive cities in the world, The price shows their intent and attitude, they want to cater to the students, taxi drivers and make food affordable to everyone, trust me it is not junk, it has lentils, pulses, green veggies, yogurt, all natural, sin free nutritious and healthy.
Thank you Here Bere Barr, So kind of you to credit the Punjabi Deli, you are a unbiased good human being.
That yoghurt curry, I think most definitely is “Kadhi”. Good choice.

Looks delicious I was surprised that it was across the st from Katz. I thought it would have been in upper Manhattan
Reminds me of the very imaginatively named "Indian Veg" restaurant in Angel, London, where you can have a sumptuous buffet. I had one which cost, believe it or not, 1.50 pounds per person in 1997; now, the cost is 6.50 pounds.
For 4 dollars here in India we can get a full meal for atleast 3 people. 1usd is 75 INR. Samosa here is anywhere around 10 to 20rs (less than a dollar)
