I had this set back on the day. I purchased it with money I got for Easter and it was a huge deal in my Lego town back then. This review took me back to a younger time, an innocent time and a time that now seems longer than it actually is., Wonderfull stuff. Keep up the good work Jang. 10/10
This was my first "big" Lego set. I was my x mas gift from my mom in 1984. Sadly I only enjoyed of this for a couple of weeks because I lost many pieces. For me it became in a symbol of my lost childhood. Thanks God and Bricklink I was able to buy another one in perfect shape. Even my mom almost cried when she looked at for the first time in 34 years !
I remember this set seemed like it was revolutionary at the time. The double doors, the way that the roof & sidecar were made, two clear windshields, six clear round bricks...all these great new ideas and parts all in one kit.
I have the idea that Lego classic town had much more diversity in sets to offer than today. Is that right or am I not completely up to date about what's has been available in the last decade?
If I had this set, when I wanted someone on the motorcycle with the sidecar, I would've taken the legs off of the passenger to have them "inside" the car.
I like these older sets the best. Their simplicity makes them a bit cooler to me than newer lego sets, and they're easily replicated with regular legos.
I saw another one of those dreams where i stumble across very old sets being sold in a store, i attempt to purchase them and something always goes wrong. And then i wake up anyway... You see how the entire building is brick built? The new taller/larger wall pieces might be practical, but it takes away from the re-creating experience a lot. Im severely lacking in bricks to build walls with. Actually... I've bought 3 creator houses recently that i didn't find the time to unbox. Suppose i'll go do that now.
Here I am, 12 years old...Oldest sets I have is a train set from 1968? Push train, anyways. It's fairly cheap to get older sets, just go to Bricklink...I'm also broke right now so I can't get anything. rip
I went to a consignment store and bought a vintage LEGO set set from 1977 with the big figures. It came with the box and it's currently the oldest LEGO set in my collection.
Shame you didn't have the box for this set. The back panel had quite a few, cool pics of alternative builds. Would have been interesting to hear your thoughts on them. Ah well.. Kudos on the set review. :)
How do I get the front fork which is clearly a separate piece off since I have one motorcycle with broken fork and I'd like to replace it with an intact one I have
Have been playing lego since early 90s. I always find those classic motorbikes appealing. Modern models don't interest me as much as those classics....

Just recently reclaimed some LEGOs from my parents and found some of the pieces from this set. It has been, so long I don't really remember the set.

We had this set as kids I didn't realise how old it was.
You need to remove the legs of the motorcycle passenger. Only the torso and it all looks fine.

Maybe LEGO can make bike frames that can seat two, a driver, and a passenger sitting behind the driver.
