I opened the Freedom Flex last month with the 5% gas and grocery bonus, and it’s been my primary spend card since then. 9% on groceries for the 1st quarter and 7% on restaurants in the 2nd quarter. It’s crazy how many points I’ll be earning just this year

I did this two years ago when I had those sign up bonuses and racked up a lot of UR points.
I'm in my second year doing freedoms.
Next year if they have the bonus we will start with my wife for the next two years.. and then with the 24 month rule I could repeat.

I've been enjoying 9% on groceries this quarter due to sign-up bonuses. I think I should buy some I should gift cards for groceries before the month's end.
And you’ll be able to get 9% when shopping at Whole Foods in Q2 (if you’re still getting the extra 4% back on groceries from the first year signup bonus).

Long time viewer. I have both the Flex and the Amazon card and I will be switching to the Flex for Q2 because it earns 5x Chase Ultimate Rewards points vs just straight 5% cashback with the Amazon Prime card. Depends on how much you value UR points, but for me that's a minimum 1.5 cents per point and worth the effort.
Wow! That also means that transferring those points to a CSR you could get at least 10.5% or more on restaurants.
Perfect timing for spring vacation with the kids! Will def be eating at lots of restaurants.

I just called chase and did a product change. And got the flex. Took less then 5 minutes.
4:55 I was thinking the same thing the other day. I usually just use my Custom Cash as my dedicated gas card so I’ll have to find a new use for it.
Just a reminder but for those with the Chase Sapphire Reserve, you already get 10x points when booking hotels through the portal. So if you have CSR, it’s best to go all in on the other bonus category spends.

PM the same percentage's are for the unlimited freedom card 5% booking flights thru chase portal 3% on dining 3% on drug stores 1% on all other's purchases. Would this qualify with the freedom Unlimited❓
If I understand your question correctly, the answer is no. Must use the Freedom Flex.

I am not sure what "Amazon Whole Foods" means. Is that referring to online grocery shopping via Amazon? Or does it include physical grocery shopping at bricks and mortar Whole Foods stores as well?

Unforntunately I can't get a chase card with the exception of my Amazon card due to the 5/24 rule. Would love to have another chase card.
Now it is time to pull out that card from the stack for a stackable offer.

@sonnytham Nah, I think it's 7% because the 1% base point is included in both the 5% and 3%. So it comes out to be 4+2+1. At least that's how it worked with my restaurant purchases this month.
Well I need to a hit a sign up bonus with this new gold card but do I want to miss out on these earnings with the flex

Yes. Most of my "restaurant" purchases are fast food and I always get the bonus.
Besides chase freedom and discover card, Citi dividend card has 5% on grocery and drug stores. I think this is the best quarter I have ever had. 😊
The only issue is how I should do with the Citi custom card? 😮
Maybe home improvement store gift cards on the Citi custom cash or if you're like me with a bunch of streaming services 5% off things like RUclips tv isn't bad.
Are you sure about this? Often it is 5% total, not stackable. You get 1% base 2% bonus for flex and 2% for the quarterly bonus.

Q2: my plan.
Freedom Flex:
9%: Hotels (category + portal)
7%: Restaurants
5%: Amazon
Discover:
5%: Gas (10% first year bonus)
Citi Custom Cash:
5%: Grocery (usually my gas card)
Capital One Savor:
3%: Backup Grocery
10%: Uber Eats
Custom cash just got put on grocery duty 💯 these first two quarters have been CLUTCH
Another thing that will get 7X during Q2 2024 on the CFF is Amazon Pharmacy. 1% base earn, 2% pharmacy, 4% Amazon purchases= 7%. Just throwing it out there!
I think the Amazon Whole Foods means ordering Whole Foods items on Amazon that get delivered. I hope it’s just Amazon. That would be amazing.

You have to be careful about booking hotels directly for this one too. Neither Freedom/Freedom Flex have no foreign transaction fees.
Sapphire Preferred does, though
I always say that discover has better categories than chase, but these are hands down the best categories I've seen on the flex
Regular Freedom card for us regular folk. But, when I swap out the points earned to my CSR, that would equal 7.5 points. Thanks. Adam. Keep up the great content.

According to Chase’s website: Delivery and takeout services will be included if they classify as a restaurant merchant.
Great spending a week in Denver this summer. Have my flight and hotels free with points. Now restaurants is 7%. Fantastic
Looks like Citi Custom Cash is my grocery card next quarter. I usually use it for gas stations when neither Chase nor Discover have that as a 5% category.

Similar boat. Grandfathered Freedom card so I figured I never needed to update it. Stacking is nasty considering my spending with restaurants.
