  • 1966 Ford F100 Custom Cab Junkyard Find. Another old Ford truck hits the yard and this time its a 66 f100 long bed. This Custom Cab model had an Fe Big Block 352 and a cool tool box on the passenger side bed side. She was also rocking an aftermarket steering wheel and 3 custom rims. Body damage and rust was there but there were still some good parts there.

    I had several of those design. 1963 and 1964 models. That truck body wise was better than all of my drivers. That could have been fixed and put back into action again

    I had a 66 for a while. Crew cab railroad truck. Bought it sight unseen and all I got was the front half, I guess it was down a bank and the bed was buried. so the guy cut it in two. The cab was the important part anyways. Went to North Carolina to be combined with other trucks and restored.
    I should figure out how to do a slide show as a video and tell these stories. Actually have an idea on that but need to get more tech savvy.
    "...we got the dream catcher right there... and the wet dream catcher back here.."
    I'm thinking the cluster and the side stainless might have value here, the stainless can be fixed if it's not too creased up. Plus the same stuff as that 61 or 62 from the other day. Too bad those wheels are so rough, that should be the big 5x5" pattern so they'd fit on early Ford stuff.

    Ah, the last year of the curvy body style before the boxier bumpside redesign in '67. The bed toolbox is a neat option to have, but not this one tho! I'd take the hood emblem if I were you Benny as well as the Buick hubcap in the back. May work as a hubcap for your spare tire on your wagon Benny! The tailgate might've been savable. But then again, the trucks next to it had their tailgates taken too.

    The fleetsides are not as popular as the old stepside but they do make an easy flip. The chrome pull out on the after market turn signal operates the emerging flashers. If the motor was good it may come in handy but sadly the rest of the truck is shot

    • @josephg41
      @josephg41 2 года назад

      Usually the fleet sides are worth more actually. I have a '66 F100 Fleetside, and a '65 C10 stepside. Fleet sides sell for more, as evidence the Hagerty valuation guide values fleet sides a fair bit higher due to demand in the market. Plus, fleet sides were always designed to be "higher end"

    Whoa Nelley, it's a V8 and not that great. **SLOW DOWN** when you get the tags and VINs. Count to five when it's focused SQUARELY on the tag or VIN. Remember we are not there and we see the glare, the scratches and the defects in the tags that make them very hard to read 5,000 miles away.
    We (barely) got the VIN and we win: F10 for F100 4x2/one half ton rating, Y for 352 V8 with two barrel, K for Kansas City, KS assembly (still there producing F Series Trucks today), and the rest is the production sequence putting it around February 1966 production, making it a 1966 model year truck.
    The tag (barely) gets us the brag: 129 is the wheelbase in inches and this is considered a long wheelbase truck. Ford still puts the wheelbase data on trucks today on the certification label, B comes back as Caribbean Turquoise exterior paint, but it looks closer to code Y Medium Blue Silver metallic, 81 is for standard cab (81B is Custom Cab) C is three speed manual Light Duty transmission, 08 is 3:50:1 rear end ratio, 5000 is the GVWR rating of the truck, 172HP@4000 RPM rated engine, 62 would be Houston, TX sales district. According to what I read, you could get AC in 1966 with the Ranger package if ordered that way.
    Whoa Nelley, we almost didn't get the tag and we couldn't brag, we almost did not get the VIN for the win. 352 and it's over for you. Off the road around Y2K, it's going to be going away. Dented and full of rust, we got no trust. Going to be flat, that's that. Time to quit, that's it. Three on the tree, and it's over for thee. Oh My Lord, it's a Ford. Going to be squished, ehhh, not really pissed.

      I had a 67 short stepside white in color basic 200 six but it had an automatic in it. The body was in excellent condition but it had the FOMOCO curse no power and everything thing would break on it.

    • @googleusergp

      @@garymckee8857 240 perhaps, not 200 in 1967 according to the data available. I was never a Ford Motor Company fan. Doing the brakes on my nephew's 2016 Fusion over the Christmas/New Year's holiday told me why (even though the job was pretty straightforward).

      @googleusergp 3 года назад +1

      @@garymckee8857 Yes, FL1A fit a lot of Ford Products. Purolator's PER81 (now called something else with their newer numbering system) covered a lot of Chrysler engines. PF25 was the Chevy V8 filter, PF35 was for trucks for the most part. PF45 for Olds V8s, PF24 for Pontiac and the list goes on.

    If that truck were mine, I would pull the motor, the emblems, those sweet West coast mirrors, maybe the axles, and maybe make a trailer out of the bed and frame. It's just like every old 150,000 mile Ford truck in the south that's been sitting outside for 20 years. Not that great.
