    My wife is from Arequipa. Been to Peru 3 times. The food market was something special!! The fruit and vegetables there are better then most the grocery stores in the US. Don’t forget to go visit the Misty!! I was able to ride my brother n laws motorcycle up pretty far.

    It is said that music is a universal language. For me, food is a universal language also! There are 21 Spanish speaking countries in the world, and each has different cultural foods! I’m Puerto Rican, and rice is a staple in our diets : arroz con pollo, arroz con frioles, arroz con gandules, etc etc! Peru seems to have a staple diet of corn and/or potatoes! This video was so wonderful to see, bec I love that it was food-centric!
    You two are amassing a very nice body of work as videographers!
    Keep up the great work 👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼

      Wow I didn’t know the exact number of Spanish speaking countries. Thanks for sharing.

    2. Negative comments are part of social media. That's just matter of fact in the field you're in. But remember that you choose what you invest your energy into. You energy is valuable so consciously choose how much of it you will give to negative comments

    En esa lista faltan muchísimos platos : Iro, Locro, Escribano, Soltero, Matasca, Cuy Chactado, Costillar, Malaya, etc. Sarsas y Salpicones (unas 50) y unas 600 sopas y Chupes reconocidos (Chaque, Pebre, Rache, Chairo, Puchero, etc etc).

    Awesome videos! Very exciting and incredible at the same time, quite relaxing! Also I wanted to say that you just tried chicha de Guañapo, not Chicha de Jora which is not fruity at all. Chicha de Jora is mainly from the north of Perú, if you ever consider in returning to Perú to do a food tour, consider to visit Trujillo, Chiclayo and Piura, it's another different culinary experience Peru can offer. You can try the real chicha de Jora and chicha blanca, and for the dishes you have soups like "Shambar", entries like "frito de chancho" and "tamales verdes", and main dishes like "arroz con pato", cabrito (or also pato) a la norteña, sopa teologa, seco de chabelo, malarrabia, "sudados de pescado", "guisadas", "mollejitas al ajo" (or "al sillao") and so on

    You did it again! Bravo 👏 👏 👏 Chad & Claire, your Arequipa Food Tour video is the very best top notch bar none.
    Claire your knowledge in food really impresses me and Chad begins with a fantastic & dramatic Arial shots. Claire presented the food list (with cute pictorial symbols next to it) and
    Chad started to check them off (nice team work). You two are dynamic duo and again demonstrated great chemistry. You have switched back and forth but continuously tell the food tour story seamlessly just like one narrator and your facial and hand expression were right on.
    The restaurant should not only give you free drink but free food as well. The stuffed pepper looked so delicious and made my mouth watered. And giant craw fish (looks like a lobster) is only 12.26 USD what are amazing price. Your presentation and preparation behind the scenes are very impressive. You two are great food promotor makes
    and make me want to visit Arequipa and to try your food list as well.
    Chad and Claire, be safe and looking forward to your next amazing vlog.

    Hello guys: I am from Arequipa, so I enjoyed your food tour. ... Look at this. ... Chicha de Jora and chicha de güinapo, is practicly the same beverage, ... The difference is that the chicha de güinapo, is the chicha from Arequipa, and the Chicha de Jora, is the chicha from all over the place in the rest of Peru. ... Normally, the chicha de Jora, is of brown color, while Arequipa's chicha de güinapo, has a carmine red color, which is unique in the whole country. ... Only in Arequipa you will have chicha of that color, although the sprouting of the corn, has the same principle, ... the diference, is the special type of corn, and its color. ... GUINAPO is pronaunced: GUEE-NIA-PO, where the O sounds like a simple phonema: "o." ... ... All the chichas that you drank in Arequipa was chicha de güinapo..fnot a single one was chicha de Jora.

    Greetings. What they drank with the CHICHARRON is the CHICHA DE GUIÑAPO. The CHICHA DE JORA has a different color (yellowish) and is made with another type of corn.
    The SCOTTISH COLA is consumed a lot in Arequipa, in Lima there is no such drink. It has never competed with the Inca Kola (which is the Peruvian national drink), as its sales are only limited to Arequipa and its surroundings.
    Note: Do not be confused, that the garnish leaves that are served are not part of the Peruvian dish, they are only garnishes (mint, huacatay, etc.). The same for the ICE CREAM CHEESE, which is only the ice cream, the rest is decoration of the place.
    !!!Your list is perfect, for your gastronomic visit to Arequipa. Congratulations.!!!!

    • @casl15
      @casl15 3 года назад

      I think paracas and huacachina you can do it in two days. Arequipa you need more days. The canyon is far. Arequipa city and food with a couple days is enough. There's a tour outside like the valley of volcanoes. 4 to 5 days maximum is ok for Arequipa. Even There's a canoe on the river in the canyon. Al depends what you want to do or are able to do it. 😊

Also in several departments of Peru there are different types of chicha de jora and it is very delicious, good luck and I hope to see more of you on RUclips and other places in Peru, good luck

  • @Angelopithecus
    @Angelopithecus 2 года назад

    Nice video. Just two things, and this is not hating at all, just facts from a peruvian: Both chichas you got were guiñapo, not jora. Jora is white/yellow corn and more fermented. Guiñapo is black or blueish corn and first sprouted then prepared sometimes with some fruit. THe chicha morada has nothing to do with the previous, because is from purple corn, not alcoholic and never fermented. There's a reason the last restaurant you went were empty: if you want to taste traditional arequipian food you need to go to a picantería. That last 3 dishes look awfull, not a good example of Arequipa. The queso helado or the ocopa never look like that and the huacatay is too strong to eat it like a letucce it must be grinded slowly in a batán (a huge stone mortar) with all the ingredients.. and the adobo is made of pork and never so dark. So many things wrong in that final place. I hope you find it tasty at least, but that was noy arequipian food.

    Your video lost me within the first sentence. "Arequipa" is not pronounced "air-eh-quipa." Your repeated wrong pronunciation is most annoying. I cannot believe that you would purport to make a video about Arequipa without knowing how to pronounce the name. If you go to Argentina, please do not pronounce the name of the capital Buenos "eres," which is also wrong but perhaps more forgivable than how your "Ere-quipa." The vowel "a" in Spanish has, in any country and any dialect, the sound of "a" in the english word "father." In 2 minutes you could have learned this without going to Perú, and could have checked out before making your video.
