    About to get one, but weighing whether to initially go with a 19 or 36 degree lens. Anyone have both and can offer some insight.

    • @Dano-Media
      @Dano-Media  3 месяца назад +1

      It just depends on how large you want your projection/shapes to be. For me I prefer the bigger shapes.

    Hello! I am going to buy one but I cannot well understand the difference in size of the wall projection between 19 and 36 degree lens attachment. Could you help me figuring out how much difference is among them?

      I haven't used the 19 degree lens but I think the projectiom would be about half the size if I'm not mistaken.

    Hi Dano, talking about amaran 300c and amaran 200d... which light do you think will work the best to use an optical spot with in a studio were there's considerate amount of natural light entering?

    • @Dano-Media
      @Dano-Media  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi Rob! Aputure's output specs on their website show that the Amaran 300c is slightly brighter when there's no modifier attached, but the 200D is brighter when the provided reflector is used. I'm not sure why, but it could be because the light chips have different physical designs. In that case, there's no way to know which would be brighter with the spotlight SE unless you have both and try them yourself.
      I would have tested it but I have the 200x, not 200d.

    Any clue whats up with the case thing that can flip up? seems like you could put another lens like the 19* or 36*, but you would probably have to remove the entire thing too

    • @Dano-Media
      @Dano-Media  7 месяцев назад

      Good question, I thought it was just holding the spotlight/lens in place so that it doesn't move around inside the case.
      There's an empty space/gab where that case thing flips to; I feel like that's where the other lens could fit. But I'm not 100% sure because I don't have the other lens.

    Is the spotlight compatible with Nanlite lights?

    • @Dano-Media
      @Dano-Media  5 месяцев назад +1

      You can technically put it on since it's a Bowens mount, but I'm not sure how well it will work because I don't own any Nanlites. COB's come in slightly different shapes and sizes, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's certain incompatibilities like light spill or reduced output.

    on my 300c i used a 19 spotlight lense, but the picture was to small, so i buyed the 36 too, and now its good size but the picture looks not realy that sharp 🙄the 36 Lense seems to not work that well

    • @Dano-Media
      @Dano-Media  5 месяцев назад

      Interesting, I don't have the 19 spotlens so I can't compare. It looks sharp enough for me when I focus it, so I don't know if yours is defective or maybe my standards are too low.

    • @VELVET462
      @VELVET462 5 месяцев назад

      i need to check the lense, im not sure, but i also used the 19 before on a 200xs. just changed now because i thought the 100+W will give a better picture
      Maybe thats the point, but not realy makes sense for me, because it should be brighter@@Dano-Media
      The 19 Lense was 100% Sharp, i was very happy with it, its just better for smaller pictures, had to mount it about 5-6meters away :P

    • @VELVET462
      @VELVET462 5 месяцев назад

      Hello again Sir, after some testing with the 36 degree lense I have to correct me. The lense works just fine, the problem was after I changed from the 200Xs to the 300c it seems that I put the gobo frame in the wrong way around, I didn't think that could be the problem. Its all sharp now how it should be. Only around the edges a little less sharper than the 19 degree but thats a known fact and should be normal.. kinda like a little vignetting
      Just to be clear here, not that some people will read this and be misinformed.@@Dano-Media

    A great idea would be to just move this light slowly. Because sunlight moves naturally.

    • @Dano-Media
      @Dano-Media  5 месяцев назад

      Yup! But not mid shot though, because you'd need a really smooth light stand to do that. It'd probably work better with a fluid head.

    Do you notice the light spill people are complaining about on b&h?

    • @Dano-Media
      @Dano-Media  6 месяцев назад +1

      Are you referring to the spotlight itself or the iris? I do notice some spill from the spotlight mount. Especially when trying to cut the light with the cutters, sometimes it takes some fiddling around before you can get a clean slash of light without spilling somewhere on the sides.
      It's totally possible/doable to not get spill, but it can be quite finicky and will take a couple of minutes.

    • @brown2840
      @brown2840 6 месяцев назад

      @@Dano-Media just looking at some pictures people have posted from the b&h reviews via your link. Not sure if it's spotlight or iris. I love your examples! I have several amaran 100d lights. Do you think this will work well with that?

    • @Dano-Media
      @Dano-Media  6 месяцев назад +1

      @brown2840 Just read those, I disagree with the ones saying that the spill is horrible and unusable; but I would say it's finicky.
      It'd work great with the 100D's! Really any of the Amaran COB's would be great with it.
