- General Chip Chapman, former Head of Counter-Terrorism at the MOD, talks to Julia Hartley-Brewer about Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf calling for a refugee scheme for the people of Gaza.
Yousaf has called upon countries in the Middle East, Asia, Europe, the United Kingdom, and America to open their doors to refugees from Gaza amid the continued Israel-Hamas conflict.
Julia says: “I’m just not sure that’s a risk most British people would be willing to take, whilst being very sympathetic to the plight of people.”

[4] Yet no such thing has been started for Palestinians.
Rishi Sunak has been questioned multiple times by charities and leaders, about a possible safe route for Palestinian families - but the government keeps evading the question. [5] Not anymore.
With news of the situation getting worse day-by-day, some MPs are starting to pressure the PM to do the right thing and help innocent people get to safety. [6] But if we can get all MPs to pile on the pressure, then he’ll have to listen.
Will you ask your MP, to do everything they can to make sure the Government does their duty and help reunite these families?
• Remind your MP that family unity is a human right so refugees and families have a right to this process.
• Mention how the UK rightfully helped innocent civilians before with the Ukraine Visa scheme.
The UK has responsibility towards Palestinian families as many of the weapons being used by Israeli forces are supplied by the UK.
There's probably a good reason why countries in the local neighbourhood don't want to take in Palestinian refugees.
Read up the anecdote about the Kind Jordan king who gave them asylum and faced treason from them who plotted to overthrow him.

@@kublaikhan2020it speaks volumes the countries in the middle east won't take them in and if you knew anything of the history you'd understand why Jordan and Egypt are extremely intelligent not to do so as unlike the west they actually seem to learn from some of their mistakes and not just continue to repeat them.
Palestinians have a very bad refugee reputation over the years. Research it - and I don't say that to sound snobby, the reality is whatever I post won't convince a person who has their mind set one way (not saying this is you, just from my own previous experiences), so I'd rather simply make people aware the historic information is widely available online. The people in Egypt and Jordan seem to have a much better understanding of the risk posed by taking in Palestinian refugees than the west do - and that's likely because of history.

Most Palestinians given asylum by Denmark now have criminal records. Remember what the Palestinians did to Jordan when given refuge there. They tried to overthrow the government and kill King Hussein. After they were kicked out of Jordan, they then caused loads of trouble in Lebanon.

If the Palestinians are serious about peace in Gaza they would have found the courage to deal with the likes of Hamas themselves. What reasonable person allows terrorists to operate on the same streets children play. What kind of government deliberately invites retribution on its citizens.. Hamas, a problem that belongs to the Palestinians but which Israel is forced to deal with.

Impoverished people who are monitored 24 hours a day by Israel . Whose grandparents were thrown out of there villages and off their land . Who are kept on a relatively small price of land that they can’t leave without permission from Israel as the borders are guarded by the IDF. All medicines, and most food can only come through the borders if Israel lets it and sometimes it doesn’t. Perhaps courage has been crushed out of them and on some level they’ve given up.

The Ukrainian refugees weren't bringing their conflict with them to the UK. This is the same with people coming from Hong Kong (although there has been some harassment from Chinese people already living here). The UK has a right to put it's citizens safety first and refuse refugees with incompatible values.

As a welsh man born in wales whos fore father's built this country, and gave there lives for it , i feel like we are living in a dystopian nightmare. We have an Indian prime minister representing his Indian influences. And a scotish minister whos a Muslim from Pakistan. Both are minorities in our country. Who exactly are they representing. Similarly it was Egypt that invaded The Gaza Strip from Israel in the 50s. When it was retaken by Israel, in agreement with the United Nations, it was given to the Palestinians despite Israelis living there.
