Bmw 745li E65 E66 Window diagnosis, repair and Initialization

- parts link below, 02 BMW 745LI E66 E65 window problem, loud noise and jumpy when opening or closing. Turned out to be broken window regulator , had to remove door panel , inner panel, glass, regulator and motor, replace, then initialize the window.
-Initialize procedure: must be done on window's main switch.
1-lower window, will only go down few inches at a time. All the way down
2-push forward hold button all the way down for 17 seconds, release
3-pull back on switch until window raises then lowers then raises again- window will work properly. If not repeat process more exactly.
4-clear all associated faults w scanner.

Thank you very much this video saved me who knows how much at the dealership. Just cost of a regulator and 2 hrs of my time :) if you dont get the timing right the window will not go up. I had to shut the car down wait a second and start again. The second time I used a stopwatch, at 16.90 seconds tell yourself to pull up on the switch. If you got it right the window will go up in a half second and hold at the top for .5 seconds and hold again at the bottom for .5 and then back to the top and your done.

Do the window program with the car on. We did it with only key on and it didn’t work. The time we tried it with car on, worked easily

Hello, you can get these at Harbor freight, they are called an E socket set. E12 or a reverse Torx

Pain in the ass reinstalling the door panel back on 😅.

Skipping the actual removal process makes the video useless. We all know the plastic pulley is the culprit.
The key elements of this video show you better just order the part. Sadly because the most critical part is plastic. the initialization of the window once the repair has been made, tools, and a very simple repair. Figured anybody trying this repair was fairly capable to remove the mechanism, very straightforward removal, sorry. plastic is exactly the culprit you are correct. We all know why BMW throws in a critical plastic part, metal would last way too long, brilliant engineering but let's use some plastic parts! That way the car falls apart at 100,000 miles like clockwork. Designed obsolescence, thank you, BMW. Sorry, just my 2 cents.
