That's painful that a lot of ScrewAttack's videos are now lost media. They were the reason I got so into retro video games in my early high school years
Are they reuploaded anywhere?
same
@@BrunoMaricFromZagreb They're still hidden on the screwattack youtube channel. There was an archive that uploaded a lot of em but they got taken down for copyright reasons.
@@Frietuurs The worst part is that they're not "Unlisted" (because then, people could still link the playlists and videos to be watched), it's that they're all "Private", and 90% of them went from being public to privated in the span of 24-36 hours. Which, is a LOT of content.
i have on my computer what i believe to be every single screwattack video game vault episode they have made (i have 451 videos in that folder) and also every single screwattack top 10 (and the few top 10's that were made under "the know" branding) as well totalling 328 videos.
why....for this exact same reason of lost media.
I have every honest game trailers video, every pat the nes punk episode, Gametrailers awards, top 10s, anthologies, pop fiction, restrospective, top 100 trailers, did you know gaming and avgn episodes.
the avgn episodes especially now as i see a future when they wont be available due to censorship issues.
Screwattack introduced me to so many other creators including PBG and Game Theory so it goes without saying that they were very important in my gaming life
PBG is a gem but game theory is a monkey brained idiot.
Really? How were PBG & GT connected to them?
@@BrunoMaricFromZagreb they both used to upload on GameTrailers, which is old ScrewAttack.
And Chuggaaconroy
I miss my childhood and screwattack.
2007-2015 was THE SHIT!
@DropkickNation why didn't you mention 2006
@@noahalcantar2431I think I only dipped in by 2007. I wasn't online much by 2006.
I sincerely miss 2006 and the primordial internet
Nah, 2006 near the peak of the internet. Before smartphones flooded it with idiots, and data mining social media companies took over. 2007 was the Second Eternal September.
it was fun
9:48
Link vs Cloud was actually the first 3D Death Battle. Seriously though, great video
Hearing that classic screwattack theme just brings me so much comfort
Nice vid! Its was a shame to see all the older videos screwattack made back in the day wipe from existence when the rebranding happened.
Man that top ten opening music is like coming back home.
Despite not having been that deep in the Screwattack community during its time, (having started roughly 2011 or 2012, when I was about 10 or 11), they were one of my absolute favourite content creators on RUclips.
The Top 10's, Evil Craig, Death Battle, the early days of the GameAttack videos & channel (along with being the people who introduced me to Game Theory, PeanutButterGamer, ProJared, etc.), I would be joyous anytime any of their shows had a new upload, & frequently rewatch older stuff 'cause they were all 'n all just that fun to watch. Some of the fondest I recall was Death Battle; Knuckles vs. Donkey Kong, & I believe Top 10 Zelda Bosses (whichever video had the "George Washington" Koloktos joke in it). Hell, with learning about SGC, I think it was a childhood dream to somehow attend one of them live, despite living out-of-country.
but since their closing, I had a crude understanding of what had happened. they got bought out, members had disagreements & left the company, Screwattack sadly sank at the end, shit sucked.
But I never truly got the full picture or learnt about the innerworks of what did happen & why.
really... The reason I came across this video was because Roosterteeth's announced closing, having been reminded of Screwattack's existence & wanting to learn what happened with them, since Roosterteeth had owned Screwattack (but thanks to this vid, learnt it was bought by the parent company Fullscreen & placed underneath that of Roosterteeth).
And I have very mixed feelings about them.
on the one hand, I loathed them for what became this acquisition of Screwattack, hindering their production, the eventual closing of Screwattack & separation of its members, but mainly being left with a visceral, "seriously, these are the chucklefucks who own Screwattack now??" anytime the harsher news & drama came up the latter half of the 2010's.
on the other hand, I can recognize there were in fact legitimate & hardworking people who've had a hand in creating some long-term content & enjoyment of the time, & I do feel remorse for them given this current time. if wasn't understood before, I'm not a big Roosterteeth guy, but I did indulge in RWBY while it was undergoing Volume 3 (upto Volume 5 was when I lost interest), but did get myself rather deep into Red vs. Blue (dropping off somewhere in the double-digit seasons, I genuinely don't remember). even Death Battle, which fell off for me greatly since the rebranding, I'd still indulge in the videoe that interested me, at least still glad to see the hosts & whoever of the original teams still working on a beloved series.
regardless, I am wishing them luck in their future endeavours & lives outside Roosterteeth, hoping for their best.
but, anytime I think about Screwattack, it always hits me strong with the bittersweet, typically more bitter than the sweet. I guess 'cause it's a 'bit of childhood that's lost to time & unfortunately isn't around anymore or finished unnaturally, making it harder to truly reminisce fondly.
though I think thanks to this video, it had given a 'bit of much needed closure of Screwattack's history & why it came to be. and I deeply thank & appreciate you for making this retrospective, history kinda' thing. while it does still hurt to remember Screwattack got screwed over this way, it does help remembering the fun that was had & knowing successes many of them since.
Great video. Great retrospective. Valuable for those who weren't there.
I was there, and you brought me back through the paces of how it all went down.

This video deserves way more views and attention honestly top notch work and this whole video felt it was ripped straight from the early 2010s with how its edited amazing touch and top quality i really appreciate the info since i forgot about screw attack and thought it was a madela effect and assumed it was always death battle
Thank you
This informed me on so much on what happend to ScrewAttack as a whole but if i'm being honest i'm happy most if all of its members became successful, didn't even know that most of the RUclipsrs featured in the video where at one part apart of ScewAttack. Can't wait for more videos from you this was well put together.
Thank you
Loved pre 2012 Screwattack. They had different themed streams depending on which day of the week it was. I was always kind of bummed out by Craig's decisions to make money more important than relationships, but hey, everyone has their thing.
Really informative video, I've enjoyed it. There's so much about Screwattack i did not know about
Great video, straight to the point. And never begged for more attention. Good work man
that intro chime is so nostalgic now 😭
Really great video. Small suggestion...slow down a bit when you're talking. You lost me a couple times bro. Keep up the good work. I look forward to watching your channel grow
Thank you. I will talk slower in the future
I feel like the era during which screwattack was prominent coincided with the peak of gaming and internet entertainment as well. Such good times, takes me back to killzone, cod mw2, little big planet, army of two, etc. It’s just not the same any more.
Dude that music takes me back.
The screw attack theme song or whatever you want to call it has been stuck in my head for a fucking decade. My god it's so good I wish someone would tease it out and make a full song.
It’s actually the instrumental to a song called Metroid rap by Dj britt
@@AnomalySource Holy shit dude you have no idea what that has done for me. Literally 10 years of it coming up randomly in my head and I never found the original lol. Thank you dude. Also sick video.
@@burnsalad thank you
Bro I can’t believe I’m not the only one
@@STAFFZMUSIC you too? Holy fuck that shit ran in my head for a decade without being able to find it.
Man, the nostalgia:/
Glad I'm not the only one. Forgot how much I used to love them. Even more than classic rooster teeth.
I just hate how many stuff has been lost media from that site after they joined Rooster Teeth and FullScreen.
Before RT shutdown I archived a lot of Hard News from 2011-2014 the ones from 2008-2010 are practically lost, Evil Craig, The Royal Rumbles from 2011-2015, Nerdtastic and something else.
I have a channel where I am uploading all the Hard News Stuff I have for videogame history mostly.
For me Screwattack will always be the best site for gaming that existed too bad many of those videos are lost or privated on the Death Battle channel.
I really wish Screwattack would have just changed their structure for animation with Death Battle but still being a videogame channel on the other so both can coexist side by side than making DeathBattle take over.
Hey. saw this posted on the Reddit. Good job with the editing all of that info into a short, well made video. If you ever need any more footage I have digital rips of the 5 DVD's SA released.
Thank you
Man...The amount of ScrewAttack videos I watched in 2011-2013. And even that was kinda late. They had some great content, especially for the time. Between SA, AVGN, and the Game Chasers, I really miss this era of YT gaming content.
Ive been looking all over the internet for an old skit of screw attacks where the employees had the idea of putting a bucket on their bosses head to get away with things like the skyrim exploit and one scene in particular stood out to me being one person eating an old expired box of 80s tmnt cereal and at the end of the skit he took the bucket off of the bosses head to barf in it. I cant find it anywhere and its a damn shame bc i really wanna see it again. It good as lost media
I feel like I remember that as well.
WE. DON’T. TAKE. BREEEEAAAAKSSS!!
I was listening to the Mega Man X soundtrack and the Armored Armadillo stage music came on. I was instantly reminded of Screw Attack.
I used to watch in the beginning, i stopped when Tom left. It's really a shame that all that footage is gone.
Good news. Handsome tom is back on twitch now with the game heroes
Pretty sure Raz0rfist/Rageaholic was involved with ScrewAttack at one point. I think he did game reviews for them.
@wanganmirage8167do you know why he was banned?
@wanganmirage8167 thanks
Actually the original link vs cloud was the first 3d death battle releasing months prior to goku vs superman
Yeah I’ve been informed about that. I wish I could add an amendment to the video but I’m not sure if that’s possible after upload
Dat Frederick Knudsen intro music ☺️
Great work, this is a fantastic video. Do you have any more info on Craig and Tom’s split? According to Craig, he quit his job around the time of Screwattack formation to go all in with growing the company, while Tom kept his job and contributed to the content. So if Craig had offered co ownership/founder status to Tom that was supposedly declined, then Craig is basically in the clear as far as business conduct.
holy crap, i had no idea so many gaming stuff came from screwattack like game theory, and AVGN
Awesome thanks 👍
Took me back in time. Thank You 😊
No problem
this video makes me cry
dallas game attack what an era
Loved this time!!!
Great video; but slight correction, Goku vs Superman wasn’t the first CG Death Battle, the original version of Link vs Cloud was
Yes I’m aware
I literally started to cry watching this. Thank you
Your welcome. It’s great seeing people remember the good old days of ScrewAttack. Hopefully there content will be made available again one day.
@@AnomalySource I subscribed immediately if you have any of the wealth of screw attack archives please post them.
@@Doomcheese I have some stuff but I don’t want to risk posting it because RT is constantly taking it down and striking channels. Depending on what happens to ScrewAttack with rooster teeth shutting down I might be able to release what I have but it’s mostly top 10s and rips of dvds
the speed of your script is so quick i got whiplash.
I remember their retrospectives being so entertaining
"Wow, what a great video! I wonder what other content this person ma- ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY EIGHT SUBSCRIBERS!?!?!?!?!?!?! I wish I could change that."
But in all seriousness, this is such good content. I honestly thought you were much bigger with your quality & style. You completely deserve much more. +1 Sub
Thanks. Im currently working on a lost media video about a channel called destiny entertainment. The lost media video is gonna be in the style of rebel taxis midnight society videos
Finally!
I was just thinking about this show lol
"Podcast" is a portmanteau of "iPod" and "broadcast". The earliest use of "podcasting" was traced to The Guardian columnist and BBC journalist Ben Hammersley, who coined it in early February 2004 while writing an article for The Guardian newspaper.
As some bonus info on the Game Attack channel. Appearantly Craig didn't want to call it that. But since they were still under Screwattack it was suggested to be branded such. And now today Game Attack is no longer a thing. The physical channel is still up, but it's been rebranded with all previous videos unlisted at least with a link to the Playlist to view.
Screwattack was one of the greatest parts of my childhood and was one of the many things that made me into the filmmaker I am today.
Ouch. My nostalgia...
Great video, very well done. I'd like to also ask if other than the pre 2010 videos that were removed from the screwattack channel, now death battle, if also any other non death battle videos including that series they had named "the industry" were removed.
Clip of the week, many top 10 episodes, and hard news pre2014 were all removed. There are likely more but this is what comes off the top of my head
@AnomalySource dang. Many thanks for answering, and so quickly too, and the video provided an answer to what happened to such a large cultural centre of the internet, much love and kind regards 😊
@@KotsiosSymeou thank you
@KotsiosSymeou Death Battle ruined Screw Attack for me and that there's no variety and this RUclips channel ended up like Cartoon Network milking Teen Titans Go
@noahalcantar2431 yeh i get what you're saying we did lose quite a bit from that channel for sure
Yes!
Literally left like smosh broke up, they could've had it all... now hell be back in 10 years 💀💀💀
Bro I literally found out about the switch being made on that channel
Mannn used to love there 3rd videos and been trying to find any of the old ones jus to reminisce and there’s nun ☹️
I still watch Craig. Good guy.
He is. But my God, he is so unfocused. The man goes through rebranding and content switching like others change clothes.
good one👍 hella views dayum
I thought you changed your username? Wasn’t it like mystery monky?
@@AnomalySource nope that’s my other channel, restarting this one
@@MagicWafflez oh sick. Are you gonna just do let’s plays or are you gonna pivot and try something else
far more accurate and well done then most.
Other than speaking a bit to fast, it's pretty damn good
Thank you
And so, near innumerable people, (myself included), took, *ahem*, TO THE WEBAVERSE!!!!
Ben sing the devil of screwattack muwhahahhahaaa!!!!! :P
I did not know this
I wonder why there is no mention of Corie. She disappeared from the crew, but there was never any information on what happened. I wonder why?
I forgot about her while writing the script.
@@AnomalySourcefair enough. Do happen to know off-hand what happened? If I remember correctly she disappeared in the middle of things while they were still going.
@@JDDK28 I have no idea
10:20 unfortunately not anymore as of yesterday.
Yeah. Zaslav strikes again
My guess is this was done before the announcement of the return of Side Scrollers
Really great and informative video
No joke a week later they announced side scrollers was coming back
Man rewatching this video a year later I’m embarrassed by my audio. Yuck that is not great.
Great video but the talking was so fast. Could barely understand it all.
Somebody has to do this with newgrounds & ebaumsworld. Technically still alive but nothing like it was.
I’d be down to do them but I know very little about Ebaums and Newgrounds is still doing alright thanks to FNF.
And now, Rooster Teeth is dead and gone. Will Craig buy back the ScrewAttack content? Will archived ScrewAttack content now be able to freely resurface?
I guess time will tell.
Given what he turned the revival of sidescrollers into i kind of don’t want him to get back ScrewAttack. I’d rather have Chad, Ben, nick, and Sam buy it alongside deathbattle
Music list?
If you tell me what part specifically you’re looking for I might be able to help you.
Additionally I don’t have a song list because I used copywritten music and if I include it in the description the video could get flagged by Content ID
1:10 what's the song?
It’s the ScrewAttack top ten theme. It is the instrumental to a Metroid rap by rapper dj Britt
@@AnomalySource thanks great video
@@freewilliam93 thank you
I heard Stuttering Craig once say that nobody from Screw Attack still talks to him or wants to keep in touch. Anyone know why?
He’s become a right wing grifter conspiracy podcaster. Just a generic anti woke channel like geeks and gamers or the quartering. Additionally he is selling “supplements” that have no FDA approval. He’s had a serious fall from grace
@@AnomalySource yeah I tried to watch his channel because he said it wouldn't be political but it's all about politics. I just wondered if there was a specific moment or event that occurred in the past that caused the fallout.
@@whosaidthat84 not sure. I recommend looking at the twitter account spuddering Craig. He has documented every instance of Craig saying bad stuff
@@AnomalySource I saw your comment in another thread and checked it out. Nothing is surprising there. Thanks
Craig could probably aquire the channel back now since Roosterteeth is not gonna be operating in the same capacity.
Yeah. I feel a bit conflicted about that given Craig’s recent political takes. I’m not opposed to him buying it but I would prefer Sam, Nick, Ben, and Chad do it
@@AnomalySource Could you name an example of a Craig's political take in particular that makes you feel conflicted?
@@TrueNacho it’s just that I feel he’s become another generic anti woke streamer. For the longest time I looked up to Craig as someone from the early days of RUclips who had managed to maintain an audience for over a decade and a half.
I recommend looking at the twitter account sputteringcraig he has been documenting the stuff Craig has said and he has made a full breakdown as to what’s happened with him.
Personally though I really don’t agree with Craig politically. I used to be anti sjw anti woke dude when I was like 14 or 15. But I’m 19 now and I find myself agreeing with the woke side.
If you agree with Craig politically or whatever that’s fine your opinion is yours.
@@AnomalySource You have not mentioned an example, just a "position". That's my point, you don't even know why you don't agree with Craig.
@@AnomalySource Better Anti-Woke than Woke.
Screwattack needs to make a comeback
😂 Have you seen what Craig's been up to lately? It's never coming back.
@@RickyNuggets maybe it will you don’t know what will happen it’ll happen and will come back
@@RickyNuggetsit’s is gonna come back and I bet it will come back
@@WinspearUltima I mean, technically it's back, but it's just craig going through some conservative brain rot during his midlife crisis. They barely talk about video games and their videos barely crack 2k views. Craig has also alienated everyone from the old days, so they're never coming back. Enjoy "Anti-Woke" Sidescrollers, or as I like to call it, Trailer Park Simulator.
Do you want it tho? It will never be the same.
the only thing i saw from screwattack was the top 10, were more funny than gt countdown. death battle was so stupid, yeah yeah good effort make an animation of the battle but is a stupid idea compare characters from different franchises
This sucks I can no longer watch the goofy ass screw attack feature
There is some very good info in this video. But you need to slow down. You are speaking way too quickly, it is hard to follow and comes across more as an info dump than a documentary. It feels like a ninth grader rushing though a class presentation. Slow down, relax, allow a pause every now and then.
Other than that, a very interesting video.
Funny thing is I did make this in part as an assignment in class in my senior year. I naturally talk very fast and I do try and slow down in later videos
Squid Games‼️
What?
It’s also the home of the angry video game nerd
I never understood why the death battle was so popular.. I don't recall seeing a single episode... it's just some fake rigged fighting with cartoon characters.
They put a lot of effort into researching and animating the fights. I get why it’s popular and stuff like the Omni man vs home lander fights are really impressive at replicating the Style of the source material
Bc people love debates and division.
I loveeed Screw Attack! I tried to watch lots on SideScrollers YT, but over time I realized Craig and cast share a ton of nasty opinions against LGBTQ. I feel conflicted to support that. Wonder what the other peeps are up to?
Thanks for this retrospective on a website that influenced me a lot.
What XD he literally has a gay guy on his new show what opinions are you talking about. Something tells me you totalllly have an answer
Respect for Craig +10
@@MaxTeky haha that's what I'd say too XD
That's just incorrect. I don't intend to be mean but do you really feel that way or does the media you consume train you to believe that?
Oh noooo. He is not believing in infinite genders and has rainbows vomited all over his channel. 😭😭😭

What does that mean?
