  • If you suffer from pain in your hip or knee joints, using an exercise bike is an excellent way to keep your joints mobile and to build strength in your muscles that move the joints. More movement and more strength can inflammation and reduce pain over 6 to 18 months.
    Start using your exercise bike to reduce hip and knee pain gently. If you can’t complete a turn of the pedals then rock the pedals back and forth. Then try something like:
    Week 1: cycle the pedals for 1 minute a day
    Week 2: cycle the pedals for 2 minutes a day
    Week 3: cycle the pedals for 3 minutes a day
    Ongoing: Slowly build up until you’re doing 10 to 15 minutes most days.
