Honestly, the thing that disturbed me the most was (not the stairs leading to nowhere) the extractor hood above the kitchen sink in about 3.5 meters of distance. What is even THAT?
real answer: probably a leftover from when they were still figuring out wall height/ kitchen arrangement

they should add a feature to the game that is like "swatch matching" - when you go to filter items it you can click on an item you've already placed and it will bring up all the things in the build category you are in that match the swatch

There are some older upmarket houses that had this, it involved a chimney that bent sideways to the side of the window. Must have looked pretty impressive in the days before electricity and indoor plumbing...

you should check out Powderham Castle in Devon, one of the rooms has a window under a fireplace and uses a mirror as curtains. Is amazingly inventive for the 18th century.
I wish regular sims didn't show up in the realm of magic, it kind of ruins how immersive it is
Same goes with the vampire pack. When I first played it I expected to see more vampires walking around in forgotten hollow but nope besides the Vatores, Vladislaus and one old and creepy vampire that knocks at my sim's door every night, there are pretty much only human sims walking around. Useful when my sim is thirsty as I make her drink from strangers but I just wished to meet more vampires there skskks
NCT's grass I usually just make some vampires in cas and move them into the neighbourhood so my vampire sims can have some vampire friends
@@keegan2207 that's a nice idea, I haven't played a lot with vampires sims yet so I haven't done it although I usually add as much sims as I can in worlds to make it feel more alive.
I also find it too bad that during the night in San myshuno, I come across a lot of vampires yet in forgotten hollow be it night or day there are barely any sksksk

Yes the roofing is just terrible. I'd expect more from EA.
This one of the most successful franchises in gaming history and it's one of EAs cash cows so they have little reason to strive for quality when they know millions will buy it anyway.
They get an unpaid intern to build the houses to save money.

Original house: probably haunted, looks like something out of a horror game where you're trying to escape with your life, previous owner clearly died practicing forbidden dark magic
Remodel: ready for quirky hijinks, "and they were roommates", owners definitely invite friends over for dinner and game nights on a regular basis

Me! I literally was finmishimg a build using only the color black...not the one colour challenge but for a crazy cat lady sims i have who only had black cats.... Becuase black cats should be loved too!

I can hardly blame you... EA color co-ordinates absolutely nothing!
My theories:
A) EA are bad builders (but then why not ask people like Kayla to contribute to the game, the marketing would be amazing)
B) or they are deliberately bad in order to encourage you to rebuild so therefore engage with all aspects of game play.
C) or the devs do their building in code rather than the play gui so it never looks the way it’s supposed to and they never check.
I think it’s more like they are rushed to get the product out
D) All of the above

the sims proves that you dont need to study interior/architecture at school to master the idea of designs.
as an architecture student, i like your way of thinking, and how you speak the concepts, its on point.
Also - see Renaissance architects. Their qualifications were "yep I can draw stuff"

First, they had to find a master who would accept them as an apprentice when they were an older kid/teen; usually, the parents would arrange this. Then they'd spend years doing nothing but eating, sleeping, and drinking the craft. In a lot of ways, it was a way more demanding education than a modern day degree.

Honestly? It bugged me so much I scrapped the whole house. Because there is not just no door, there is for some godforsaken reason, a gap between the stairs and house and I couldn't play in peace knowing that affront to architecture existed.
I’m annoyed because people spend a very long time on these houses and Kayla comes in and is like: This is AWFUL TRASH and I’m gonna make it so much better! It’s quite rude, really.

Emilia Jones I don’t think she means to come across rude, but she is trying to hold the creators accountable to a certain level of standard. She has acknowledged in the past that a lot of work is involved in creating game packs, worlds, objects, etc. But the house she created in this video in so much more aesthetically pleasing, and SHE DOESNT GET PAID for creating this. I think the original house is hideous, I don’t want it in my game and I don’t want to have to replace it or build another one simply because the team didn’t put in any additional effort to begin with

I don’t know a game that the consumers pay this much and get a product like what they give us.
I know right. People pay as much for this stuff as some indie devs ask for their entire game with way more effort put in. Either the sims team are lazy and dont know what simmers want or EA is choking them with tight budgets and deadlines. My guess is both because some things like matching swatches are basic things modders can fix in a few minutes

It genuinely angers me how AWFUL the houses are, like I feel so bad for the console players who don't have the gallery😩
I pity them more because of the interface. I tried my cousins sims 4 for ps4 and the controlling... Sims is one of those games that needs to be played with a certain device. In Sims' case, a mouse and Tastatur.
Sims4 on the ps4 gets slightly easier to use the longer you play it. And they just recently added the gallery so thats a plus.
We finally got the gallery after 2 years...

one of my biggest gripes with any sort of build tool is how god awful the glass roofs look. they have such an opportunity to make them cute plant nursery roofs and they look like something a hospital would have to let in natural light

Sims 3 houses are 100% better then any sims 4 house if you only look at design.. it's sad that old games look better than the new.
@@PriscillaSol1993 true, Sims 3 had ultra more detailed houses, Sims 4 had some pretty ones until the major updates for me the pack that defines the downfall of the good houses Ts4 was Get Famous literally every lot there looks strange and incomplete

"its important when making the roof to look at where the water drips off so you arent having one roof leak onto another and the water get stuck" yas girl laying down laws. that is exactly right, and yeah when building roofs irl you try to use the least material aka the least number of different surfaces at the most appropriate angles and heights, so a square would be easiest cuz you just want an a frame or a pyramid. big houses with lots of floors and odd shapes are harder, just make sure no roofs end in "dead spots" where the water would not get to the ground
Or in Canada, where snow won't all fall at once into one place and possibly interrupt the integrity of the roof. Ideally roofs will slope to the direction that people won't be just standing as well because you know.. that's dangerous.
I think one thing to potentially think about when fixing EA houses is the price, it would be cool to keep the house a similar value for playthroughs that don't use money cheats. Just so that the whole neighborhood isn't £££

Yeah unfortunately decoration can really add up. I'm sure the taxes on that house would be pretty crazy. It looked great though

Everything is so much better! Some of the stuff in the pack is weird like I love that stove but the fridge, the design is so weird.
At this point, It takes talent for the gurus to keep releasing bueatiful items and awful builds....

I have a theory that there is some CEO power-tripping walnut who INSISTS on building the final lots for the pack even though they know less about building than Bob Pancakes. Blink twice sim gurus if your boss is abusing their power to build shitty lots!!
Or they release unfinished builds intentionally to make our compulsory brains want to change things with their builds and sink time into the game.
I think it's intentionally psychological.
But then they reskin kitchen counters with no upper cabinets and I feel like I'm totally wrong. Because what's the psych benefit to making the community angry
I think they know they're not good at building, but I wonder why they don't recruit simmers like Deligracy, Sim Supply or all the many talented people on the gallery to build...I'm sure it's to keep what they're developing a secret...but it would be worth it to stop whoever is currently "building" the pre-made houses.

I just found your channel today and I love how you updated this house! I’m totally going to download it! Also, thank you for making the build only using magic and the basic pack. I own some but not all of them. And when I have downloaded a house before I have to almost redo the entire build because more than half the house, literally the house not just the furniture, is missing...

Rūta Gapšytė It’s a save file she made where she renovated all the community lots in the game and she added a bunch of new townie families to make the game feel more complete. If you search “simsie save” you can find the link to download from her tumblr and she also made a few videos explaining how to get it in your game.

I love your builds and renovation videos because you definitely have a talent. You make a boring house into one that has awesome vibes in it and express it in a better way. I only love you sims builds and stuff because other RUclipsrs, i just feel like they could've done better or they completely change the theme of the house. You keep the theme but make it 100x better. I don’t have access to the internet where I live (only my phone) so I really appreciate you being brave enough to call out EA’s poor builds on behalf of those who, not only can’t build themselves but those who don’t have the internet to download custom builds or patches that correct mistakes. There’s a lot I love about the sims but I really wish they were more creative with the decorating and builds AND the townies!! Those things really always disappoint me. Because I’m not good at building at all and don’t want to spend the entire time customizing everyone and everything. That’s why I love and appreciate your save file and love watching speed builds & videos like yours on RUclips. 💖 you’re such a intelligent, talented, witty, charming & brave young woman. EA should hire builders like you!

oml your house remodeling is astounding! And I completely agree with the fancy box idea. I usually go for a victorian styled house with more bedrooms, than necessary, for my families and spend way too much time designing the interior.

Your build is so much more fitting for what I’d really imagine a house to look like in Glimmerbrook!! The original by EA was kinda sloppy oops but I’m sure we can all agree on that one
Conspiracy theory: The person in charge of designing the houses is a plant from a rival company. They were prepared for anything, but it was actually really easy to get into the house design team. Now they make the most ridiculous houses possible, and *nobody even notices*
The sim gurus need to watch this so they can learn how to build

Looks so much better. I love your decorations and remodel of it. I don't know what EA is thinking when they build these houses. They're all so dark and bare minimum. Maybe they thought, "Okay, we need a bed here, a toilet and bathtub here, a dull kitchen here, and we'll just delete this door here... There we go, the house is complete. No wait, we have to make it dark too. *uses only the dull lights* And... done!"
to be honest I haven't seen a single fixer upper where Kelly fixes people's gallery builds

yeah because even if a gallery build is bad, it still has more care and attention put into it than literally any of EA’s builds.......
I feel that perhaps the company doesn’t have enough time to build really good houses. Like they make beautiful worlds and items. They must put all their time in that. Knowing that the sims players can not fix those. Yet they would be able to fix the builds. I feel bad that the creators get rushed so much.
Reasons I love Kayla:
1) She quotes vines
2) that’s about it
the landscaping on the outside of this house reminds me of my house growing up :)
My real house actually turned out very accurate in the Sims. I was impressed.

The Sims 2 song that you used for the screenshots is so nostalgic and I love it. TS2 really had the best soundtrack hands down.
They should really add where the community can pick the style of houses with a new pack. MAYBE even BUILD a house and EA can look at it and put it into the actual new world with the pack, that would be cool.

The wood in this pack like the furniture and the doors, windows, arches all have a very early 1900s art nouveau feel and I love it
