This cover sounds better and better every time I listen to it. The boys go all out, and I know I have said it before, but they just keep getting better and better with each cover they do. I am familiar with the original, and it really does nothing for me, but this is amazing and complicated and just wow. Eli/Layne did amazing with the arrangement of this one. Absolutely amazing! Great reaction!
Layne was FIRE through the whole thing. 100% agree, Anthony is on another level. When he and Eli team up, they're the Tenor Twin Terrors, Anthony with his smooth runs, Eli with his rock grit. This was a grunge song from 1994. It came out mere months after we lost Kurt Cobain, and the grunge community wondered if the genre could survive after losing such a legend. Then this came out, it was so different and dreamy, everyone interpreted it differently yet we all "got it" somehow. I was 14 and remember discussing our interpretations at recess. No one could be wrong or right. It was like a surrealist painting with music. I loved VoicePlay's cyberpunk interpretation.
I've loved this song since it came out in the 90s (the music video creeped the heck out of me though, lol)! This cover, though, was brilliant. I'm really impressed with Layne and Eli for keeping some of that grunge rock feel.
Wish we could subscribe more than once - unfortunately not. Love your reactions. And anyone not subscribed already? Do IT! You'll be happy you did when Kaireem pops up on your page. I love what VoicePlay did with this. My fave part of the original song was that buzzy distorted guitar. I think they really captured that feeling! Geoff and Layne were marvelous on the rhythm section. I'm pretty sure they are also the ones who did that distorted guitar sound. (pretty sure) Meanwhile Cesar's beginning was down right gorgeous and mesmerizing. And ELI !!!! He just gets better and better on the rock voice! And Anthony keeps surprising me with how good he sounds on rock songs, when you wouldn't think his runs would fit that genre so well.
You should listen to the original Soundgarten version… this was a grunge anthem. As far as vocal achievement, you should seriously consider listening to Jacob Collier and his arrangement of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” (feat. Yebba, John Legend and Tori Kelly)
Nice to see you looking up the meaning of the song. I imagine going in blind that the lyrics are almost non-sensical. 😂 Highly recommend checking out Chris Cornell and his bands “Soundgarden” (this is one of their songs) and “Audioslave”. Chris was a master and has such a recognisable voice and we lost him far too young. Him and Chester Bennington’s deaths are the only musician deaths that really hit me. If you are interested in delving further i would recommend checking out any Audioslave or Soundgarden songs or his solo stuff: “You know my name (from 007), “Billie Jean” “scream” “nothing compares 2 u” and “patience” to start with.
I’m always up for diving into new music. Any recommendations that you have given here you can request through the discord. Link in the description 😊. I’m happy I did because the lyrics flew over my head aha
I absolutely love Voiceplay they are amazing...Do you have any reactions to Gabriel Henrique? If not may I ask that you check him out please you won't be disappointed...Have a Blessed day

It is such a complex arrangement and so beautiful.
This song is a cover from Sound Garden.
It is also from the video game Cyberpunk 2077. (I may have the number wrong, lol). But it plays on a radio in the game.
I love what Eli (with Layne's help) did with this arrangement.
I LOVE this. Their cover is incredibly good and so is the video. 👍😍

Wow that’s such a beautiful memory. They really made this their own and smashed it as a group. Anthony voice is incredible 🔥
