That was a good video, your saw being clean made it way easier to see what you were doing/talking about. I used just the socket and my fingers to start that difficult nut, and as a DIYer I replaced the fuel line/filter just because since I was suffering through this carburetor swap debacle anyway.
To get that nut on , you should have taken off the extension off the socket , and just used the socket to start it , so not on an angle , just to start the nut straight .
Question, the setting on the choke all the way down is full choke, what is the one click up, half choke? Do you warm it up on that, or is it meant to be used on that all the time?
All the way down full choke pull till it pops , move up one notch ( half choke ) pull till starts once it start squeeze trigger choke will pop off let idle or warm up
Sometimes they do need adjustments but not always . If I’m buying aftermarket I try to read reviews to see what people are saying about them . I have been using HIPA part’s lately with out a problem
Howdy, talking about carburetor adjustment . Is there any? And would it be High /Low Idle ? I can’t seem to get both of my MS 170 & 180 to Idle and run very well. W.G.
I have owned many chainsaws of all kinds. I bought a new Stihl 170. It was a piece of junk from the day I bought it. Worked me to death to start it. I used it for a bit. Cleaned everything and even bought a new carburetor. Haven’t ran 5 tanks of fuel thru it. With the hours and parts I have worked on or replaced. I could have bought a brand new saw. Absolute piece of junk
I agree with you. I have one with less than 4 hours total on it, and it's a piece of crap. It was in the shop 3 times under warranty and still won't run. I'll never buy any Stihl chainsaw again.
Just bought a new stihl 212C "EZ START" BWHAHAHAHA. Should have just bought a larger electric like my two smaller Dewalts. They just WORK unlike my $360.00 Stihl that may run when it wants to. What a nightmare. Never again.

Excellent video dude you just made my day. I have a saw video that wouldn't run. Now that I watched your video I'm up and running again. Thanks 👍
You’re welcome! Glad I can help

Nice Bos Chainsaw
Very helpful. Why didn't you replace the carburetor gasket?
Very helpful, thank you
Thanks
New Still 170 machine was exstost smoke in using time
Carburetor comes right off. Yeah right! "One fell swoop!" Right?
Use a shallow socket to clear the rear handle. Becareful cross-threading.
After I ordered the kit, I noticed it said these engines might have 1 of 2 different carbs. Hopefully I get lucky? lol

Hi there. When you fit a new (genuine or aftermarket) carburettor does it need any adjusting ? Or run it first to see if needs? Thanks
