- BMW M CEO Franciscus van Meel presents details of the new exclusive BMW 3.0 CSL and its two iconic predecessors.
BMW 3.0 CSL: Fuel consumption weighted combined in l/100 km: 11.0 (WLTP), CO2 emissions weighted combined in g/km: 249 (WLTP).
Official data on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions were determined in accordance with the mandatory measurement procedure and comply with Regulation (EU) 715/2007 valid at the time of type approval. In case of a range, figures in the WLTP take into account any optional equipment. For newly type-tested vehicles since 01.01.2021, the official data no longer exist according to NEDC, but only according to WLTP. From the first prototype I hoped there would be 167 made, but only 50 is really restricted, especially considering many of us cant get old CSL and would love to get new one, excluding other M CSL models apart from 3.0

So unbelivably weird that this front design alone looks so much better than the normal M4/3. This is what the people meant. You CAN put a huge vertical grill in it but please give it some design cues that work. This works.
The regular M3s look great. It’s a car you buy to stand out and draw attention. Plenty of generic cars out there for risk adverse car buyers

Locked away in collections, very rarely seen on the road.
All LHD too I would presume, so little to no chance of seeing one registered and on the road here in AU.
Thats the unfortunate truth. Bmw spend so much effort in r&d and whatnot but the car will spend most of its life in storage.
FYI. The SEVS import laws allow you to bring in and license low production cars without converting them to RHD. This easily qualifies.
Exactly what I thought. Throughout the video I was thinking how all those track-oriented design features are just meaningless because the 50 units are going straight to private collections and museums. To me it’s just an engineering effort non-sense that only serves the purpose to satisfy bmw engineers egos

Very sad. Spend ages developing a brilliant driving machine and then see "collectors" stick it in a garage, never turning a wheel.
Them: “Now, the fact that we’ve only built so few of them also makes it quite impossible to see cars like this on public roads nowadays.”
Also them: “… and due to the fact that sales are limited to 50 pieces only. It’s going to be an extremely rare collectible car.”
Feel ya'. I and practically every one that meets her love my nearly mint '87 e30 325i cabrio. Not a rare car by any stretch when in production. Only rare now because she has been taken care of lovingly by the three of us who have owned the car. Manufactured scarcity is sad and somehow, a bit less valuable in my opinion.
I hate how this is being presented as something just to collect, rather than something you want because of the incredible driving experience it offers.

One that is an impractical 2-seater compared to the everyday useable 4-seater original. One that despite all the advances of materials and technology it weighs probably 2x the original...

The only 'original' thing about this is the new heights of bulls**t that the BMW corporate marketing department will rise to.

It looks like they're trying their best to destroy bmw legacy. And don't let me think about the IX, i'm not even against electric cars but wft is that? Dear bmw, this is so good. It looks that you have changed the designer ou at least the way he/she or they design the car, and I really must say that this is the right path. No disproportional lines, everything is cohesive and the whole package fits well. I must say that this car represents the heart and the essence of what bmw used to give to its costumers. Great job and please keep going with this type of cohesive lines to your cars.
Respectfully, this is an M4 CSL with a bodykit, isn't it? For me it has too much mass above the rear wheel, and the way they stuck the plastic fender on top of the m4 rear quarter just looks funny to me. I would much rather prefer the M4 CSL over this, but with a manual hehe.

Iconic is the word! The transition from the classic and functional CSL is clearly retained in the new design where new elements complement the spirit of the ultimate driving machine that BMW stands for.👍

If you think this car is a love letter to anything good, then look again. This is an over-sized, overweight, yet totally impractical, overpriced, no real connection to motorsport, made to NOT be sold to the masses or ordinary people, made for billionaires' collections and really just for a big corporate marketing campaign, and for God's sake it even plays fake engine sounds from the speakers (I am confident in predicting that for this model as well, since pathetic modern BMW does that with all their other cars).

The round grille on the front looks BEAUTIFUL, much better than the regular M4.
I didnt grow up with a csl but i did grow up with a 73 3.0cs in the garage and have always been in love with this car, it will be mine one day. saw a csl on i4 it was a beautiful sight

Das ist BMW, das ist pure M Leidenschaft. Power, Design und Ausdrucksstärke in einem Auto was traumhafter nicht sein kann. 50 Besitzer werden sich glücklich schätzen können, diesen Traum zu leben. Freude am Fahren, das ist immer noch der Inbegriff und die Philosophie von BMW.

Not even remotely true the entire catalog of current generation M cars are some of the most hated bmws of all time.
Finally some good styling sense by referencing 2015 CSL Hommage Concept. This grille should have what BMW used on 4 series.

Looks quite big. Maybe should have build it upon the M2 body structure. I know they share the same chassis but still. Doesn’t look as slick as the old. Love it either way and well done BMW for continuing to push out special edition combustion engine cars whilst others are cowering to 2L 4 pot engines or going full electric.
Perfection in every detail, except one small thing, for my taste - the shape of the side mirrors. I would’ve gone for an elongated water drop shaped mirror, but that’s only me . ❤ Gorgeous car..perfect 👌👌
