  • The series continues with Chopping, modifying and fitting the garnish mouldings. Garnish moldings cover the inside workings of your windows and sort of give that "finished look" to your interior. Cut, weld, grind, fit, mount, bodywork, paint, etc. It's all fun stuff! TINMAMA. This is a 1940 2dr chevy sedan that I am building for my mom. It has been sitting in our backyard since 1990. Dad always had hopes and dreams of building it for her, but he never got to it, so in 2017 I started on it, full time. The car was complete November 2019 and was a top 12 finisher at SEMA 2019, but the build videos will be coming slowly over the next 6 months. Thanks for watching! Came on over from vgg, and watched this video because it said for mom. My mom loved old car's, and my step dad was working on a 55 chevy to take her driving in. In 2016 I got a call from the ER to get there fast. I was shocked because her complexion was so yellow that by gut sank. An mri showed more tumors than they could count. Cancer that had spread from somewhere else. We were told a few hour's to maybe two days, and she had not been sick prior to this, except she felt like she pulled a muscle picking up a heavy 1700's clock my grandpa had restored twenty year's ago. We took her home, and in four day's she was gone. Don't know your story, but I was close to my mom, and it's hard when they go. Both parent's are gone, so make sure you call them, and see them, because life is short. I will be 50 in a few day's, and can tell you that time flies. God bless everyone.

    It’s the little details that make all the difference. Great work as always

    Man that is an incredible amount of work! You seem to enjoy it and you certainly know what you are doing. I have done this type of chop and the outside is almost the easy part! You couldn’t have picked a harder car to chop. You mentioned a $20,000 paint job, sure, just for the paint, that would never cover that amount of metal work!!!!

    • @Tinman2Kustoms
      @Tinman2Kustoms  4 года назад +1

      Oh you're absolutely right, the amount of metal work is huge. This car had over 1000 hours of metal work on it by the time we started the mod/body/paint, which was another 700 hours or so. This would have been far greater than a 20,000$ paint job had I not done most of it myself. I would have rather started out with a fresh unmolested/unchopped car and done the chop on everything myself, but that's the hand i was delt! haha and as far as enjoying it, this build was easily the least enjoyable one I have ever done, and I tried to not let it show in the videos, so I'm glad it doesn't seem that way!

    Your work is amazing Luke. I have missed your videos, thanks for putting this stuff out. How many hours did you have in it all together? Are you getting some sleep finally now that it is done?

    • @Tinman2Kustoms
      @Tinman2Kustoms  4 года назад +2

      haha thanks man! I slept for 2 full days after I got home from SEMA. So i'm caught up for a while. 5000+ hours total. That's not including dad's time in the 90's. An incredible amount of work went into this one. And not sure if I will ever do it again. Especially not unpaid. Took over my life for 2 years and i'm still paying off debts as a result of those 2 years unpaid and probably will be for the next 10 years. But it;s not always about money!

    Hey im trying to find the video where you chop the oil pan on the cummins 12 valve rat rod. What video would that be?

    • @Tinman2Kustoms
      @Tinman2Kustoms  4 года назад

      I didn't chop the oil pan on this car. I spent extra time building the motor mounts to fit perfectly and allow the car to lay frame, but kept the oil pan 1/2" off the ground.

    I was wondering what happened to you nice job! Did you enter that car at sema?

    • @Tinman2Kustoms
      @Tinman2Kustoms  4 года назад +4

      Sure did! Took home top 12 overall and Top 3 Young gun (Builder under the age of 27). I was a bit disappointed with that finish because i believe the work in my build far surpassed the winner of the young gun segment, but stuff doesn't always go as planned when car shows are involved lol

    Do you ever did you dad crap for what he did back in '99?

    • @Tinman2Kustoms
      @Tinman2Kustoms  4 года назад +7

      No, I respect my dad more than that. He saw me fixing shit and would get upset, but I never rubbed it in his face. He doesn't need to hear that shit. But I have to mention it in the videos otherwise it doesn't make sense as to what I'm doing or fixing. Some people think I'm an asshole for it, but it's part of the game when you're trying to fix other peoples projects.
