That's around the timestamp in the show when the side one corps and the side two corps first arrive together in space. Those quarter notes are both hype and practical... literally "bringing us together" for the first time, that late into the show.
Wow. Thanks for this! I marched the tube line that year. I remember it being a few good days in Virginia. Current corps members should look and this and see how little dancing there is...we marched, baby. And it hurt. I was in the best shape of my life (long distance track athlete) and 140 pounds at 18 years old. I still wanted to die after every show. Also that drum line was something special. Great guys with the best attitudes and talent. I always enjoyed being around them on the field.
I agree, I marched Blue Knights in 2009, it was just marching no dancing. My heart was about to explode after every show. I came out of that summer super skinny, not a trace of fat in me.
anima mundi was my favorite movement of anyone's show in 03. the intensity of SCV's drum line will forever be one of the most memorable things about this show to me. and i'm a hornline guy. love how the snareline dude getting it at the very end of the finals DVD was also throwing down here in rehearsal...gotta practice how you perform!
3:27 that hemiola groove into the ballad song. Every time.
I thought this totally had PR beat for 3rd. Demand Level 9000. Casella's book was a monster, as was line
a book that will stand the test of time. Beautiful.
Almost 20 years later and those quarter notes on bottom at 1:01 still gets me hype

Thanks for posting this video. I loved this show and the percussion book is reserved but yet very powerful and emotional.

Jay D less dancing than 1990, for sure
Jay D less rings than 2018 also
Damn man. I remember seeing this show in Arizona in July and was blown with how fast the tempo was, let alone how damn hot it was

That was Micah. Shortest snare, great energy
Damn I miss when corps marched this much. I don’t think the kids today could handle it.
thanks so much for posting, this show is what made me fall in love with scv, and first drum break I ever learned.
I loved this show alot.
