Bro today I was walking in the gym. We have a lock on our gym. There’s a sign “don’t hold the door open for people” I’m right outside as a guy is walking out and he blocked me from grabbing the door and slowly closes it while staring at me weirdly. I use my key and walk in. I got mad about it for awhile and thought about what I should have done cuz I just looked at him

Im starting to feel like it's our moral obligation to walk in front of as many tripods as we can or at the very least not purposely avoid them. It's gotten really out of hand

Ill squat my sweaty bum cheeks in front of any camera. I'm a fighter not a pumper. So these meat heads get humbled real quick when someone in the gym tells them who I am lol.
I don't have an issue with people filming if they are doing PRs or checking their form (I really don't have an issue at all. There's a saying: let the baby have its bottle). I've had to film deadlifts and squats to check form because it is impossible to see from the side what is happening (and I don't have a partner). Looking into a mirror straight-on isn't helpful. That said, it is usually in an empty gym (my climbing gym) or positioned in a way to minimize the inclusion of others. The videos are deleted immediately after watching them. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Seeing how people behave in gyms makes me glad i work out at home
In fairness internet distorts how common it is, so far I've not had a bad interaction at the gym.
It depends on the region and the time that you workout, currently I´m doing at 7am, it´s perfect, only people that have focus on workout are present, if I go at 7pm it seems like the kindergarten invaded the gym, they keep talking and filming each other and spend 2 hours on the same machine
running shoes, some resistance bands, couple loose weights and u are in gym shape, it really doesnt amount to 500 a year

Had guys do that before when they got this vibe they don't like you for no reason, they wait for you to be recording just to walk in front of it on purpose

@@anoniem7062 My gym only has mirrors in front of the db rack. The squat racks and DL spaces are nowhere near. I don't film for form, unless I am at home, mainly because I know what I should feel like; but I am not trying to look into a mirror, even if it were in range, to check my form at the bottom or middle of a squat. Definitely not doing this for DL and OHPs. If you want to film yourself for form, I will say just don't get annoyed if someone walks in front...gyms can be busy.
As a person that was part of this scene for years I can tell you there's no such thing as "roid rage"! These asshats were already bully's, but just like some cops abuse their authority, these guys think that by virtue of their size and/or strength they can abuse other gymgoers.
That so called asshat is Guy Cisternino and gyms pay him to use their gyms for the publicity. However those kids that were fucking around in front of him (not talking) were already warned by the establishment to stop. But when people only see the short edited video to fit their narrative every clueless being has to put in their two cents. Without knowing the context and how Guy Costernino is an IFBB competitor and any horse playing in the gym puts his career at risk then your immediate response is “he’s a bully”. Look up the name, then do your research before believing what some bullshit RUclipsr says.

In the city where I live, there is a cop that is about 5'9 and looks like his muscles are going to explode out of his skin. He frequently uses the gas station down the road from where I live and if you get within 5 feet of him, he loudly makes a scene and proceeds to puff his chest out and does a countdown to give him space. Pretty sure this guy qualifies as a bully and roid rager with shit for brains.

I remember when we used to put our phones up against shoes, plates or benches to record our form or maybe a nice PR every now and then. Now i see douchebags walking in with straight up FULL SIZED TRIPODS. I counted 3 the other day in a 90 minute session.
I've seen this a lot at Cruch Fitness, but not at all at my new gym... I think they banned it there.

I only ever record myself to do form checks. A tripod would have helped immensely when checking my deadlift form. As it was, I had to make three attempts before I had something usable.
@MorpheusASmith have you seen a gym floor with 3 tripods running all at the same time? Not only are their sets 2x as long bc they're constantly checking footage, but it takes up a lot of room. There aren't many squat racks or deadlift areas and you'll have one guy spending an hour on equipment.

I film some sets to assess speed/difficulty, form, or hitting a PR. Adds about 10 seconds to my time. Do you see a problem with that? I would never get mad at someone for walking in front of my camera. The people in these videos are just narcissistic losers. Now if all racks or whatever equipment is being used, and someone is spending a lot of time doing whatever, yeah that's a problem too.@@rminitials

I was once using the prone leg curl machine, I would do reps of 20 and rest for a minute. Thats it, just a minute but because I was reading advice on my phone during my rest periods, every single time I did, some old woman would come in asking me if I could hurry it up or something along those lines. There were nobody waiting and when I finished, she was nowhere in sight… ghosts of gym patrons past

Perfectly fine to film your lifts in a public gym, as long as you're the main subject matter, great tool to check form, but if someone moves in front without realising who gives a shit, just move on, it doesn't matter and you don't own public spaces
Filming themselves while working out don't make it an effective way to check form. There are mirrors in most gyms, and they're not for decorations.
Even if they do realize, still no big deal. I'm not taking the long way to where I'm going just so somebody's film won't have me walk through it.

@@rus1616I film myself occasionally to check my form on squats and deadlifts. I couldn't do that with mirrors, especially if I want to see the bar path.
@@paulworowitz7082 Maybe it's me, but I've never had to check angles while squatting. My form is perfect with or without a mirror/camera because I've been working out for a while now. My body has adjusted to each workout I do. If you've been working out for a long time and still feel the need to check your form in all angles, then maybe you're doing something wrong.

Back in the day you had to sneak your camera in the gym to film yourself. A lot of big name fitness RUclipsrs never complained about other people because they weren’t supposed to be filming anyway. Now people feel it’s their privilege and right to have me go all the way around their camera setup to get my weights so they can film themselves doing a workout with horrible form and range of motion.
I honestly feel that people should be able to pass the cameras whenever they need or like to. The people doing the recording shouldn’t say shit cuz it definitely ain’t a private space.

Both the people who film and the people who don’t film can be assholes at times. If someone is in a corner minding there own business filming parts of there workout and if someone intentionally go’s out of their way to go in front of the persons camera or says something disrespectful to the filmer for no reason then that person is an asshole. But if someone is filming in a public space such as the gym the filmer does not have the right to get upset if someone walks in front of the camera
