- Walt Disney's "it's a small world" premiered at Disneyland on May 30, 1966 with a gala celebration and dedication ceremony. Here is my audio tribute to it's maiden voyage at it's new home in Fantasyland. Please excuse the repetitive nature of the visuals...the audio mix is what I'm featuring...This mix includes an except from Walt Disney's Dedication ceremony, the Clock Parade show, the Load area, the Full Interior Show and the Unload Exit. For the Main Show, I created a "step-mix" utilizing the original stereo masters. Every version of the song is played in it's entirety, each beginning once the first third of the previous has played. The next country is dropped in until all have been used. This creates a counterpoint originally intended but never used in the actual attraction. The visuals were quickly added for simplicity and to avoid editing lots of stills. Enjoy!!

I was in that parade representing Norway along with others in our Sons of Norway Junior Lodge. I led our group playing my accordion. Was an awesome and very memorable being so close to Walt Disney.

The old footage is almost creepy, and far brighter than today; I also remember being in the hot, stuffy, and reeking of pot interiors of the old building. Makes sense the old puppets were finally replaced in 2009 when the parks added the Disney characters to the ride.
Wait, so they don't have any of the 1964/1966 dolls anymore? I thought they did, at least some of the props are from 1964 still.
@@TackyFlamingo some of the dolls were replaced but all the sets are still the same
fun fact the boarding spiels heard in this video were the incarnation previous to the current one. the Clock parade music is the 2nd incarnation (the original is still heard in both Paris & Tokyo I believe.

I rode this ride around '66. Before I saw this video I watched the one from '12 that showed a more current version of the ride. I thought how I remembered it being so much better but chocked it up to childhood memories. Then I saw this and realized it was so so much better. The dolls in the old one had so much character and much more interesting movements. They seem closer to the boats too. The newer version is full of more flat cut outs that seem like fillers to take up space and the doll movements are very rigid. They lack personality I saw in the older ones. They also seem further away. This puzzles me because I would have thought with the advances in technology it would have been so much better. If anyone has time to reply I'm really interested in knowing how you see this.

When it comes to this ride, I only care about Holland cuz it’s weird and interesting. Here in the footage shown was kinda weirder cuz the tulips were moving???
The most interesting part, though, is every time I pause the video, the kids look like they’re sleeping!

Adam Smithson i doubt it, Mr Disney found places for the guys to film, I mean the original is not like the others where The whole place is filled with water and boats are guided by tracks, it’s the old style boat ride.

The interior MAY be from the World's Fair version of the ride. I've seen this identical footage before on another documentary covering the fair.
