    Social Emotional Learning, also known as S.E.L., is described through this whiteboard animation style video. The video begins with quick definition of social emotional learning. Next, several reasons why SEL should be incorporated into schools are given. One reason being that emotions affect both learning an behavior. Going forward, the video offers several different ways that teachers can actually use it in their classroom. Then the video goes into the social emotional learning core competencies. The competencies include self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and decision making. Each of these components are explored through basic examples. This video is part of a learning for education framework playlist. Other videos in the playlist include classroom management styles, lesson planning the key components, bloom's taxonomy, instructional practices and teaching strategies, marzano's high yield instruction, webb's depth of knowledge, and many many more.

    Wow. This video made me have the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach I had as a child, when my personality disordered parents violated boundaries.
    Interpret that observation as you wish - but I’m reporting honestly.

    Yes this is good! Let’s take over for the parents and families in teaching basic characteristics and values that humans learn automatically in homes because we here at the educational centers do a better job of caring and nurturing than parents and families!
    I’m only believing this because I’m told to believe it and that makes me smart

      YES. This thought occurred to me, as well: these are not *explicit* learnings, they’re implicit. They’re learned through secure attachment relationships with primary caregivers (PARENTS).
      Trying to teach this explicitly, by people with whom the child should have an appropriately boundaried relationship - yuck. It’s emotionally and psychologically abusive.

    So….. teachers are tasked with students’ character development ( which is the job of the parents)and practicing mental health without a license? So when is all the academic stuff happening?

    • @shrodingerscat4191
      @shrodingerscat4191 6 месяцев назад

      It isn't happening. All that is happening is the dumbing down of kids while being indoctrinated into Marxist ideology

    Also? This isn’t part of “education”. For a teacher to incorporate this, is directing them to practice psychotherapy without consent, a domain-specific set of ethical commitments, or a license.

      Exactly. I was recently watching a program where an Educator was speaking about how schools are now calling this "Social Emotional Learning" a good thing, but its basically still "Critical Race Theory, masquerading under this new name. Listen up everyone. These things are what should be taught by parents or the child's main caregiver, not these people who are trying to infiltrate their minds, with things other than.....math, spelling, reading, history, Language classes, etc.

    Just another fad that was put together by people who were failures at teaching in the real world, so they went back to college to attain a school leadership credential (to get them out of the classroom), so they can enjoy a cushy office job, where they come up with stuff like in this video.

    Of course you won't call this stuff more "critical race theory", but that's what it is.
