My very first car was the Cortina MkIII 1.6L with 'L' plates and dated October 1972. I had many cars after it and several of them were brand new. I did not love any of them. That love was reserved vor my 'Daytona Yellow' Mk 3
A joy to see, for us older guys..... I had a 2000 GXL in dark blue which, regrettably, was one of very many cars, of which I have no photos! We were very restricted back then, as the whole photography thing cost a fortune! I would have loved a two door GT, which looked fabulous. I moved on to a superb '72 Rover 3500s in Mexican Tan with matching vinyl roof, and 'Taupe' leather interior....FUE 308K People often ask which of my forty plus cars was my favourite and are always surprised when I don't say my E-type.....RWF 822 G, or my TR6, and put the Rover ahead!!!
Beautiful, stunning job you've done. Had a MK3 estate back in the day, very underpowered but I'd settle in a heartbeat for one instead of a modern hatch. The seatcovers might not be for everyone but in the 70's they were the dog's doodah's so pretty authentic.
Sleek little car. Awesome color combination - red with black vinyl. I remember those seat covers were so popular back then since vinyl seats really absorbed heat. My neighbour back in the early 80s had a 1976 model Cortina.
Had one in Daytona Yellow with the black roof. Great car. Always reminds me of the American Ford Torino with the curvy line on the rear doors and quarter panels
OMG!! that's my car... lost it years ago... 70s... when can you send it on to me... ill pay for shipping.. you can keep the seat covers. thanks so so much..
Beautiful car. I can almost feel my child hand twisting the air vent control. My dad had a sky blue cortina. WEM 387N. Navy blue leather seats. Embossed number plates would be a nice little touch to this car to add to its authentic style.
iceninja46 We had an orange 2000E, GJR 753N, brand new fleet car. My Dad got pulled by the police in the small hours, thinking he’d nicked it on the day the new reg number came into force. Cheek of it.
I had a MK3 2000E in dark blue. The interior dashboard was also in a rather nice blue. I had over 100,000 miles on the clock when I traded in for a 1600 Capri, bright red.
Well the guy driving by at (4.26) that shouts out "NICE CAR" says it all, This is a very nice well restored Mk3 2000E, which looks almost like new, except for a few very minor details, which only true enthusiasts would spot, I am very impressed by this one, love the 1970's style retro seat covers, saw similar on plenty of GT;s years ago, a car to be proud of owning, with or without the minor bit and bobs sorted out, she gets a like from me. enjoyed seeing her.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I've owned it since 1997 and used it as an everyday car. Couldn't fault it and quite a head turner! but being used in all weathers took it's toll and I think we managed to save it just in time. Now it will only be used in the summer and for car shows. I hope to post another video showing the restoration process very soon. :)
Hi I would love to see your restoration video, I follow Pete C, (Swampy/Ruby/Bramble & Estate) & Mike with his 2000E, which like my Cortina on my channel, is having a full shell deconstruction and re-build, to as they both came off the production line, Glad I was the first one to give your car a comment and a like, she deserves many more as you have a very lovely Mk3 and I agree she is a definite head turner, I always adore seeing other peoples cars, especially ones like yours, Beautiful car.
Exactly the same as mine, colour and interior, which I sadly lost in 2001. Except mine was a 1974 M reg. TSN 601M. She was sadly too corroded and unsavable.
Hi Roger, That was a shame, If you look at my channel (cortinaman63) and (mikeatcora) channel, you will see two very rusty Cortina Mk.3's being saved, which most people would have said were to corroded to be savable, it is surprising what you can save if you have at least one solid panel to work from, and can afford it of course.
BigJon007 the rims are deep on the outside rather than the inside . apart from that they are the same wheels . does not matter really. long as it puts a smile on your face then it is doing its job . its a lovely looking car . your a lucky man .
The back seats are all ok but both front seats have a couple of cigarette holes ( not made by myself ) in them. I also didn't want any more wear and tear to the drivers seat with getting in and out of the car.

Had this model in orange,my favourite car of all time. Lots of happy memories. If you are ever thinking of selling let me know. Cheers Davie

Beauty mate, looks really good, brings back memories of the MK3 I had. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Drove a few of these in the 70s. Loved all the marks of the Cortina.

That was a great colourway
I had a 1975 metallic purple such a good motor.
Very nice. I had a 1970 1600E and one of the very last MK3's a 1977 1600L
OMG!! that's my car... lost it years ago... 70s... when can you send it on to me... ill pay for shipping.. you can keep the seat covers. thanks so so much..
Gorgeous. I had a 1600 L 1973 in the same colour.

Nice. We had an orange 2.0l with the reg, LJA 246P...

I`ve still got one of these, A 2000E it`s not as nice as this one though. Reg has been on hold for 20 years. It`s bronze with black roof.
Had one in bronze with tan roof and chrome embellishing rings.
Do you wanna sell it 🤔 I’m looking for one
There's nothing like a MkIII - especially since it's even better with a vinyl roof. These cars might be the best thing to come out of the 1970s.
Also had same seat covers as yours off a market!
Had this model in deep blue (Automatic) lovely car (OMA 201 P).But as was the case in those days rust was a big problem, had to have 2 new front wings.
I wish we had these in the USA, much better than the junk we were offered back then.
Don’t fret these were junk too ! They rusted voraciously I remember welding them up for the MOT test at 5 years old (the cars not me) ! 👍🏻🇬🇧

Unlike any other UK ford
Well very very nice car well done I love the mk3s
And I see the minor details
But the car is perfect stunning love it
Brilliant bigjon
The best Fords ever made: Cortinas "Brighteye"-Mk1 and Mk3/4(-74-) Experiences since 1962 ;).....
Awesome Cortina Mk III 👍👌

Beautiful 👍
Amazing
Car
Mk 3 - The most handsome of the Cortina family. Please ditch the leopard skin seat covers though!
Leopard skin seat covers? they're the future! lol.
Not sure about the del boy seat covers they would be more at home in a 60s zephyr
Reminds me of The Sweeney. Now get your trousers on you're nicked Guv. Cheers from the colonies.
My favourite Cortina, post uplift 2000E! How can a Focus or the like compare to this? Did you ever get furry dice?
Beautiful
Of all the seat covers in the world. Why do this to such a lovely car?
They are period seat covers, very popular in the 1970's.
Stunning!!!
Thank you. ;)
Love mk3. Such a nice looking shape but correct me if I'm right or wrong is dashboard from a mk 4
It's the correct dash board for the car as it's the later model mk3?
@@bigjon0072 ok I never knew that.
I'm assuming the same dashboard was used in the mk4 as well.
@@bigjon0072 I must admit I do prefer earlier dashboards but apart from that there nice looking motor
@@bigjon0072 yes same dashboards were fitted to the mk 4 and also the mk 5 .
Proper seat covers..pmsl
How many owners post Rod Steward mate?
Ant no 250 crossflow. Big mothers of things.
Car seat covers from Hell. What the fuck were you thinking?
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Was the 2000E the top top of the range.
Yes it was back in the day.
The E executive was replaced with the Ghia as top model i think about 1977.
Shame about those hideous seat covers !
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr-eat
those wheels look like capri wheels rather than the standard 13.5 j fitted ?
Not sure on that one. They were on the car when I bought it .
BigJon007 the rims are deep on the outside rather than the inside . apart from that they are the same wheels . does not matter really. long as it puts a smile on your face then it is doing its job . its a lovely looking car . your a lucky man .
@@davidharrison6615 Cheers. :)
Ziebart?
It's just missing a WAYNE & TRACY sunstrip across the top of the windscreen and some furry dice.
I think I have some furry dice for it somewhere. lol.
I'm guessing that the fabric on the seats are in poor condition. Why else would you have the loud covers on what is otherwise an original looking car?
The back seats are all ok but both front seats have a couple of cigarette holes ( not made by myself ) in them. I also didn't want any more wear and tear to the drivers seat with getting in and out of the car.
