I remember seeing this short film way way back in black and white! Started my love affair with this motor . Check out the twin exhaust never fitted to production cars , possibly from the mk1 3.0 Capri ? I had a Consul GT 3.0 1972/L reg back in 83 no power steering manual box loved it ,the Wife in the TV ad would have had fun getting that out the garage!
My best mate had one of these in the early 80s. He got it off the father of another mate for £100. It was white with a black vinyl roof. It was a 3.0 V6 with auto box. It had alloy wheels and we put a rear window louvre. It was in excellent condition and because it was white with the black louvre it was known locally as The Fridge. We had loads of fun with that car. It was such a comfy cruiser and looked the nuts back then. I haven't seen him for 35 years which makes me sad.
My Dad had a couple of Granada Estates in the early 70s and I was lucky enough to be able to enjoy a lot of my courting days in them! My lovely wife and I are still together after 48 years later! (sigh....) I really miss those times ....👍🇬🇧
They must have filmed some early pre-production models or even prototypes. No side mirror(s) on the cars, which would have been boltet to the doors, and the clearances between the body parts (doors, fenders, ...) are not corresponding to later production standards. However, great video!
Horn button is across the steering wheel spokes( a small Lucas button in the centre of 3 spokes on 3000S models)& the washers is a rubber pump which needs to be pressed a few times on the floor to the left of clutch pedal ( or the brake on auto's). from 1975 all models got electric screen washers & single wipe on a switch in the same area as earlier cars
Yes , they had prototypes, pre- production & press cars on the road( for brouchres, workshop manuals etc) from summer 1971,at Dagenham. The MK4 Zephyr which had stopped production early 71 to allow for the presses & tooling to be ready. Consuls & Granada's would be made in quantity from summer/ autumn 1971 to build up large enough stocks for February/ March'72 launch. MK4 Zephyr & Zodiacs could back in the day be seen on a K & even L registration because of the Granada's launch the MK4 range became a slow seller! Ford even had UK built prototypes being tested in secret 1969/ '70 & the styling & shape as we know it was planned 1967/8 - just as the MK4 range was a new car. Ford engineer's learnt a lot from the MK4 Zephyrs quirks!
£10.000 to 18000 gets you a good one now days .Your wife will bring it round the front ready for you to drive . lol .get them dishes done im going out .

He talks about the guys wife and cuts to a shot from underneath of the car going up and down, I wondered what the hell they were doing for a moment.

Masterpiece of 70s scriptwriting. How many adjectives can you cram into one 8 minute script?
So, where were the windshield washer and the horn controls located? That single column stalk left out both of those.

@@mikemartin2957 Oh, okay.
I WISHD ID HAD CAR LIKE THAT
NICE
These cars were prone to flooded headlamps & fading tail-lights. So much so I bought one. Seriously!
I WOULD LOVE TO PAINT SOME DAY CAR LIKE THAT
1971? The Granada was first presented in March 1972 in Geneva.

@@mikemartin2957 Meant come March/April 1972 Mk4 Zephyrs/Zodiacs would have been sold cheap as shit.

Whose wife gets the car out of the garage for them! I know the response I’d get if I suggested that to the Mrs.

Make them again. And i will bay a new car again.
Ford would never consider that nowadays ; a remote chance of a ' token' use of the Granada name , in the way of the Mustangs being sold now.
And the new capri 🤮 Ford have lost the plot.
i would love to paint it change tyres of it and oil and drive it
I WISHD ID HAD MK1 GRANADAS 1 GRANADA TURNIER
Park in the forest and walk 10 miles to the Opera!
Then indicate right 😂
Replaced the boxy Mk4 Ford Zodiac.
Didn't even open the door for his wife how rude
I’ve had a fair few Granadas of different models and the Mk 1 was the best around the banger track
Sleek aerodynamic styling of a brick! Those comments about women did'nt age very well either!
