My Controversial Tier List For BEST Zombie Games Ever

- Since I was young, I’ve played many different zombie games from State of Decay to Dying Light, and so I decided to rank them all here today with a few Resident Evil games included!

+ I do know the Resident Evil games aren’t zombie games exactly, but originally I had an RE Tier List video planned that I scrapped and worked into this one, sorry for the confusion

Haven't finished video yet. My top zombie game of all time is Dying Light 1. I honestly don't know that it can be matched. Not even by it's own sequel.
I prefer dead island but dying light 1 is solid

Solid opinion dying light 2 took out mostly all the things that were absolutely amazing about 1 and loaded it with more paywalls than 1 ever had which was close to nothing besides a few optional skins and amazing dlcs that let’s be honest why would you want to pay for that
Dying light 1 is by far the best zombie game. Nothing comes close to it IMO, plus it got supported with tons of stuff. Honestly a goat game. I don’t think any game will emulate it for a good while. 😀
RE4 was also my fav RE, played it on the ps2 back in the day, can’t wait for the remake. Also this is your list, you pick whatever you like the most man, don’t let others make you think different, nothing is controversial about your preference. :D

Well yea, it’s my opinion, I love the Resident Evil games as you saw by the rest of the list so of course I’d love it in VR. But feel free to recommend me some other VR GAMES
I still don’t get why re7 is better than re8 I struggle to find reasons even after playing both over again. For some reason I enjoyed 8 more than 7, and no it’s not because it was too scary 😂 I could give the reasons why, but I respect your opinion.
7 days to die at D tier is a violation my guy
It’s an old game that never got the next gen update it deserves. It’s really just not my type of game, and half the time I played it back then I found something frustratingly broken or ridiculous.

State of Decay YOSE belongs in A category...really nothing else like it. Better than Project Zomboid since you know... State of Decay actually has NPCS with DEPTH.
State of Decay is one of the buggiest / boring survival games i've played. That Depth is nothing compared to the sandbox possibilities within Project Zomboid thanks to mods
@@backboardfilms Sorry you feel that way. Project zomboid's NPC mods are pretty shit, unfortunately. They don't have the same level of depth that NPCs in State of Decay present. I'm not sure if you played State of Decay or State of Decay YOSE. If you only played the first State of Decay, then I could see why you would consider it buggy & boring, but State of Decay YOSE is the most updated version with all the DLC, bug fixes and graphical updates. I didn't encounter any bugs at all in the 293 hours that I have in it. Like I stated, I'd easily rank it an A. It has a lot of stuff that is lacking in many other zombie games. The survivor management aspect being the most noteworthy in addition to permadeath.
What Deep Silver Had did to dead island and techland Will go down as one of the biggest crimes in gaming history just like EA betraying Titanfall.

“Zombies Ate my Neighbours” was one of the first games I ever played.
It was on the Sega Mega Drive.
It’s what got me into gaming. :P
Also: would Resident Evil 4 be counted as a zombie game?
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great game, BUT!!! they aren’t zombies. :P
The same goes for Resident Evil 7 & 8.
There are no zombies in those games.
@@CyberMonty2077 I planned on making two tier lists. One going over the RE games, and one all zombie games I’ve played as you see here. I decided to scrap the first one and combine it but rolled with the same title as the 2nd video.
I know haha, but 95% of the other games are zombie games so it makes sense to just go with that for the title

Have you played Days Gone?
It started out as a Playstation (PS4) exclusive but has since been ported to PC, which many claim is the superior version. The game starts out a bit slow but as you gain skills & upgrade your motorcycle it gets way more fun, imho.
The Devs were adamant about saying "they aren't zombies"...but lets be real, they are zombies.

How is there no mention of RE1 in here? I’m assuming it’s because you haven’t played it, but if you’re gonna make a tier list for the best zombie games I feel like you need the play THE zombie game.
Nah RE1 wasn't thaaaaat good. It's okay but definitely gets outclassed by the later installments
@@NerdCornerDE Yikes, I understand that this is your personal opinion so I’ll leave that alone. What you are objectively wrong about, is the major influence this game had on zombie media as a whole. All of these games exist because of the success of this game, which has been remade, remastered and re-released on every console since the PS1.
Project Zomboid is SS+ tier!
I like the game a lot, but like I said it isn’t really for me. I think if I played it with friends I’d feel differently

Am I the only one who think that RE:village is better than Re2? Surely, I'm not the only one, right?
Riptide isn’t all jungle, but until you get out of the jungle it does suck. I think you should push through it and finish it some time.

Meh not the worst list I'd ever seen. Missing quite a few zombie games. Such as the other Resident Evil games, Zombi, Survivalist, House of the Dead, Dead State, Contagion, Last Stand, Daymare, Obscure, Evil Within, Back 4 Blood and a ton of other indie games. But I can't blame you if you just hadn't played these games, but I think it would have made your list a little more concrete since some of the ones I just mentioned are pretty bad (i.e. Back 4 Blood deserves to be C or even D tier) and it might have elevated some of your other titles if you added some truly bad zombie games.
No one cares if a list is "concrete"... it's just a bunch of opinions about past games I played. If people make lists just to get validation, then that defeats the whole purpose
@@backboardfilms lmao okay bud. Opinions are like assholes and all that crap. Just saying you're missing a ton of truly bad zombie games, but you're also missing quite a few gems. Maybe you should check them out and redo your list in the future.
One of the most underrated game is evil within
I got Riptide for free and it fucking sucks, I usually easily sink 50+ hours into just about any games I buy and 600+ if it's something truly good like DRG, Skyrim, minecraft etc, but I only did around 4 hours of riptide and uninstalled, it's so boring, the progression is so unclear, missions are not at all rewarding (not just the loot but also it felt like I just killed a bunch of zombie for nothing and just to see them respawn later)
IDK how such a big title can produce such an ASS game, I was so disappointed coz I remember growing up as a kid and watching people play dead island and I really really wanted to play but didn't get the money, and as I grew up I just kinda forgot that it existed, so imagine my excitment when I found out that it's free on steam, and imagine my disappointment after playing it for 4 hours
Of all the zombie games I've ever played in my life, the one that gave me the most immersion of being in a zombie apocalypse was DyingLight, fair Tier List and well-deserved SS.
This ain’t a controversial list if I see dying light at SS they should honestly give that game a movie and bring back the og developers for a second one that want to improve instead of make a mockery of by making dying light2 which was so sad in my opinion

State of decay isn't the best zombie story but oh man is the gameplay addicting in either game. I'd personally rate it higher but can respect where it lands on your list. State of decay 2, Dying Light, and Left 4 dead 2 are my choices for top tier.
I may have to give the State of Decay games another chance
@@backboardfilms passed one of the maps on state of decay 2. Found it too tedious. I would probably rate it 3 out of 5. Gameplay was very repetitive..

Honestly I love the dead rising series dead rising 2 off the record is probably like my top favorite games and was the first game I ever played out of the 4 minus dead rising 4 I really love dead rising 3 I would give it a A or low or high B tier but I can see why you didn’t like it after half way
I don't know but dead rising has a low chance of getting a remake. Because of dead risng 4 sucking. But resident evil also had a failure and came back with a better game.

@@ghostlegit I originally had two tier list videos in the works. One for RE games and one for zombie games. I scrapped the RE one and combined it with this one and just rolled with title for the 2nd video. Trust me, I know lol.
The first 3 games are somewhat zombie games though with your more occasional crazier mutations. I look at the RE games as survival horror puzzle games, the first couple at least. Then they become straight up action games until RE7

you should revisit robloxian war z (name has now been changed to last light) the game isn’t out yet, but they put pictures an clips out of the environment an ui etc. an it looks so much better from the 1st release of it, but you don’t gotta if you don’t want to, i want to hear your opinion

I grew up with Cod Zombies, but there isn't an full on "Cod Zombies game" so it doesn't make much sense to list it here
Days gone is underrated way to much , it's a good open world game. Has a decent story , good graphics and mechanics, I'd say it's the best open world zombie game

Could be argued that Dead Space isn't technically a zombie game. The space theme kind of puts it more into a space horror game even though the necromorphs are nearly functionally identical to zombies, but people don't consider Halo a "Zombie" game just because the Flood exist, right?

@@backboardfilms I think you need to go replay it without rose colored glasses. Every character interaction is terrible and off-key, the dialogue is absurdly atrocious, and the gameplay and controls are deliberately clunky. Its like 90s game design philosophy with modern skin.
Atmosphere and graphics might be the only things they nailed with it.
