Guitarwise one of the best decisions of my life was to buy this one... Maximum satisfaction.... The sound, feel, design, and composition literally cures cancer... just awesome... I can only recommend it!
I really love this guitar, also bought as my first 8 string. Fishman fluences sounds great. And yes I have the same problem with the volume knob with multiple guitars
I am planning on buying this guitar. How do you like the coil tap and passive sounds? And how well does it do more crunchy sounds? I would mainly use it in my Coverband (I currently use a horrible 7 String and a Line 6 Helix. The 8th string would just be for fun at home or to annoy other band members)
I can see it bring perfect for that, just a little annoying at first. It's not been a huge issue last few times I've played it, so I might be used to avoiding it! Thanks for your comments :)
@@caloomface well I have to say I'm pretty satisfied! For this budget range, it really behaves better than expected. Assembly is very good, it's beautiful and PUs are fantastic for the genre. Once in tune it stays in tune, just some tuners could be more sensitive. No intonation issue for me and I like that the "0 fret" comes around the 9th so it makes it easier to play to me. It is a bit heavy If it's a concern, and of course I immediately changed the strings with a 0.09-0.80 set. The nut needed a little adjustment for the 8th 0.80 string but everything is fine and I think it's absolutely a bargain for the price. I'd recommend it!
Sounds great! I love the fisherman fluence pickups. I think I've decided to get my first extended range guitar, and you possibly convinced me to get this guitar!
Well, I'm going for E A - E A D G B E. Maybe try this one out. Like a seven string drop, but with your standard 4th between the 8th and 7th strings. Pretty useful, pretty awesome
Choice of tuning also depends on HOW (in what manner) one is going to play this guitar. If you are going to play like Hedras in some of the sample videos, maybe the 8=F# / 7=B tuning might work for you. But if you intend to play chords for Jazz, bebop, or chord melody solo'ing or accompaniment like George VanEps, Bucky Pizzarelli, John Pizzarelli, Ron Eschete, or myself, a more symmetrical tuning as above, is more practical for good voicing. I tune my 7th to A an octave below the 5th for this reason.

Really wish you had said a few things about the fretwork, the intonation, the tuners, the tuning stability, the finish, maybe open up the cavity and see the workmanship quality of the electronics? Are there any rough frets or burs? Some guitars that are fairly cheap for their style often have this problem? Would have been reassuring for you to call out even if they were fine (if that's the case). Is there any frett buzz , how was the leveling? Did you need to adjust the truss (yeah you showed its 'easy access' at the bridge so that was a plus).
Hey Carl, Fair points but I tend not to mention things that aren't issues - that's all related to RUclips's algorithm and me trying to get my videos seen. But I take your points, and will bear them in mind for future reviews
Thanks for this review. I'm considering the Cort 7-string as my first extended range guitar, but I've a couple of questions. Can you comment on the fretwork, tuning stability, and the nut? I don't see anything listed about the nut online, so I presume it's just plastic.
Hey Alex, yeah I'm struggling to find nut info too.... feels like a solid plastic. Frets feel nice and tuning has, thus far, been reliable. You do need to think twice about how much pressure you use if you're used to 6 strings but that's a player problem rather than an instrument one. Hope that helps!!
@@MuttleyGameTube Interesting! Weird that the manufacturers haven't mentioned that. Unless I've just missed it in the specs. Thanks for mentioning that

Hi David, I've not played the Ibanez so I can't really comment. I still own this Cort, still play it most days. I thought there might be an intonation issue with the lower stings but I was applying too much pressure to the frets as I wasn't used to the style. I've adjusted my playing and not had issues since.
