- The Acolyte episode 7 released on Disney plus today to some horrible reactions by audiences. And it's easy to see why as Disney has chosen to make The Acolyte all about how the Jedi are evil, and this episode truly doubled down on that concept, which obvioulsy will anger most Star Wars fans who view the Jedi as heroes. In this review of The Acolyte episode 7 I go over all the terrible decision made by Disney with this episode and also offer solutions to the issues Disney has created in Star Wars.

The fact Rotten Tomatoes removed the audience rating for a while says a lot about the (lack of) integrity of that site.
Let's not perpetuate this stupid story. It happened to non-Disney shows as well and only for around 2 hours. Repeating this story as true makes us fans look bad and unreliable which is what they want.
Also can we recognize the elephant in the room. The website is called rotten tomatoes yeah? I believe thats a term for when people threw literal tomatoes at the movie screen if they were not enjoying it. Therefore taking away the core aspect of the websites name "How do you really feel"(rotten tomatoes) Peak human insanity we are living in

Truth be told, when I read "murder mystery" I thought we were gonna follow Osha on her killing spree a bit more, or maybe the sith reveal would be at the end, but we barely got anything resembling "mystery" besides Unknown Planet lol.

Sol didn’t stab Mother Aniseya in self-defense, he stabbed her because he thought that she was attacking the twins. So when Mother Aniseya told Sol that she was going to let Osha go, Sol realized that she was actually trying to protect the twins, and that both Sol and Mother Aniseya wanted the same thing.

Story aside. It's 2024, how does 1978's Episode IV look 10x better in every way - from lighting to set design, action sequences, props, etc? Nearly 50 fkn years later.
Better management and choice of aesthetics, the latter which is admittedly subjective, but reminds us of better times, and yes, better story.

In all honesty, the entire premise of this show makes no sense. I have seen fan fiction be better written, with proper pacing and story-beats that succinctly touched my emotions.

The idea is the road to hell is paved with good intentions. This is a compelling theme brilliantly told in the story of Darth Vader.
In this show a compelling exploration of that theme is lost in horrible story telling, obnoxious nods to gender politics and almost every character being dim witted.

He saw through the fourth wall and the Meta content and realized that he as a white man is evil and worthless and offed himself as the show writers wished.
I guess he felt guilty for basiclly death of this small witch comunity. In theory they didnt harm other people, and because of his actions, his desire to leave this shitty planet and boring task, he rushed there to capture children. It was his ticket to home. And because of this rush, and other misunderstandings it went as we saw. It still a bit flawed story but it make sense if we turn a blind eye for some parts.

the age at which a Jedi was too old had regressed from the past. It used to be older than what it became when Anakin was taken in. Although - this was cancelled out when Yoda agreed to train Luke.
You can't say the rules are different back then because they literally said the twins were too old, but Torbin and Sol went full Quigon and went from warriors of code to Epstein child traffickers.

Acolyte just kind of confirms a long held suspicion I've had with anti-Jedi SW "fans"--that they're not REALLY taking umbridge with anything the Jedi actually DO, they're mostly just projecting all their complaints about God/religion in general ONTO the Jedi and deliberately reading them in a bad faith light because of their own personal issues.
That's why writers like Headland have to make crap up about the Jedi's bad actions and overlay the bad guys' complaints with things they want to scream at their ideological opponents. ("You don't want us to have power and use it the way WE want to!" "You're oppressing us!" "You would persecute me for being what I am!")

Qui-gon did what he did because of Anakin's insanely high Midi count, believing he found the chosen one.
Palpatine hid his evil intentions with powerful dark side stuff, using his powerful influence, blinding everyone, using Anakin's weakness and love for Padme to persuade him.
Its NOT in a well-established Jedi's character disobey instructions FROM THE COUNCIL, and to suddenly out of no where have weird obsessions with a random kid he just saw and had zero interactions with, and having overwhelming emotions and feelings, having a pissy fit with his fellow comrades. Even Qui-gon was calm and collected and respectful when debating with the council to let Anakin be trained.

In high school our Chaplain gave a lecture about how the Jedi and Star Wars are an allegory to Christianity. I think that could explain why some groups would want to paint them as the bad guys.

The series is like McDonalds food poisoning where you have that horrible gut pain and then sit there farting out liquid shit all night until your ass is so sore you have to take a shower to clean it up. Then it starts all over again 30 mins later.

They really cheap out and bought a run-of-the-mill metal detector from the nearest neigborhood hardware store for a prop. I mean, Jedi can move in hyperspace and they made do with 20th century metal detectors?
It is nothing new that star wars is using 20th century items for props. Look at the weapons from original saga for example, which are weapons from ww2 with added some scopes

It is simple - all that new Disney stuff is not canon no matter what they say or do at this point
The writing is shockingly bad. How in the world do they base the entire "huge reveal" and plot based off a bratty, whiny Padawan that just wanted to go home?!?! "...it's our ticket back home". What?! First of all, aren't padawans trained from a VERY early age? How can it be that after years and years of training that this padawan still hasn't grasped the idea of being SELFLESS, OBEDIENT, FOCUSED, seeing the BIGGER PICTURE?? Furthermore, why would he even assume that just getting the girls would be a sure path back home when clearly they only make big decisions after speaking with the counsel? And on top of that, they could have brought the girls to the counsel, and literally sent right back out to investigate further because they still didn't know HOW the "vergence" existed there in the first place. This was literally just another Episode 3 with some additional scenes that doesn't reveal anything other that Sol killed the Mother Witch which nobody in the audience cares for anyway. If its' going to be a reveal, it should be Sol revealing that story to the evil twin, and yet we see NOT A SINGLE shot showing him and her, or her reacting to these revealed truths which defeats the entire purpose of the reveal because there is no reaction or consequence or resolution. And the entire fight scene was also stupid. If she was fighting Sol and basically winning, why would she mind control the Wookie only to...continue fighting him? And what happened to the Acolyte? Of course Headland will say "oh well we wanted to explore those questions in season 2", but the reality is season 1 was a disaster and didn't set anything up correctly for the audience to be even remotely interested in a season 2. Good riddance
Star Wars needs a multiverse… and their own tva so some of these shows and movies can be pruned from existence

I love how Kennedy claimed the lightsaber fights in the final two episodes would rival Anakin vs Obi Wan.
And all we get in this episode is around 48 seconds of lightsaber swinging where people don’t deflect or clash with their foe; instead they fall to the ground after tripping over nothing once they receive even the slightest lightsaber impact on their own weapon.
Come on Disney. We all know you’re failing. Get rid of Kennedy already; she is not making Star Wars into anything the fans want it to be.

Like, his deepest desire is to return to coruscant, for what reason? And she then casually mentions his parents were beggars. Would that not be a way better way to sow seeds of distrust amongst the jedi? To be ripped away from your family at a young age, leaving them behind in poverty while you arguably get a pretty good lifestyle increase? That sort of guilt is way more powerful than “WanTIng To Go BAcK tO CORUscAnT”

Yeah, it’s sad that the one character we can empathize with is the Padawan. And it sucks that I can’t even root for him, because (me being Roman Catholic) I know how his story ends; he self deletes himself. Like not even sacrificing himself like John Krasinski did to save Millie Simmonds, Padawan selfishly offs himself for no reason.
Edit: Or to use examples in the franchise; like Arvel Crynyd made the sacrifice in his A-Wing to bring down the Executor. Like Obi-Wan did to so Luke could escape.

This episode made me more uncomfortable the more I think about it. Sol was so concerned about Osha's safety and her well-being just for the jedi lady and the jedi council to tell Sol to "leave her or it will cost more problem."
Remember Osha and Mae are children at that time. So... what I'm getting from Disney telling me "if you see a child that might be in danger and you're concerned about their safety. Leave them in danger, and don't save them. Saving them will cause more harm."
Have you not noticed that recent Hollywood productions aim to flip the good/evil dynamic on its head and attempt to make you sympathize with the baddies.

This really brings to mind Sabine's actions in Ahsoka. Starting a war by handing Baylon Skoll the map to find Ezra, which lead to Thrawn coming back and never telling Ezra the truth about her actions, yet she never gets punished for it, only for Ahsoka to say "her gamble paid off" and that "it's time to move on". No it didn't pay off and it's too little, too late to move on, there is gonna be another war, people are gonna die. And yet, you end becoming a Jedi? No. That is not what the Jedi are about. All those innocents that are gonna die. They are gonna be on Sabine's hands. Yet chooses to stay rather fix her mistakes. What was Dave thinking? How are supposed to root for this? A true Jedi woul never endores this. Ever.
Dave was "thinking" his pet Mary Sues can do nothing wrong, as always. It was the same with Bo-Tox-Karen in TCW but everyone was praising his awful writing and that irredeemably evil villain with NPD.
@@Mouse_Metal I think the moral ambiougty is what made Bo-Katan interesting as a character. Still, she ended becoming a better person than Sabine did later in life. At least, Bo was more smarter than her, at least.

She was the second in command of Death Watch, a group of terr0rist and sl4vers, a schemer against her own sister who never cared about her, only pretended it when it suited her,
traitor of her group and her boyfriend (?) Pre Vizsla because she refused to follow the creed (the same creed she wanted to off her sister for) the moment it wasn´t profitable to her anymore (when Maul became the legitimate ruler and Pre died for the creed).
Se guilt-tripped Obi-Wan and Ahsoka into helping her to get rid of Maul and used Satine as a leverage in the most t0xic scene in the history of movies and shows.
She´s an illegitimate wielder of the darksaber and unworthy ruler who used the same sister she tried to get rid of and succeed as the reason why she should rule just because they´re related, which meant nothing to her when she was with Death Watch.
She is a hypocrite who calls others "zealots" and is ra*ist towards clones despite the fact the clones served her Mandalore on a silver plate.
She´s a selfish manipulator who deliberately abused Din´s lack of knowledge about the importance of the darksaber.
And also helped him only when she could use that as a leverage on him to get him to help her on her mission where her obsession with power almost got them all killed. She lied about the purpose of the mission and changed the deal during the process.
Even when she seems to help some good guys she always helps only herself.
She is a s0ciopath who refused to help to save Grogu until she learnt Din and Boba go after Gideon, so she smelled a chance to gain the darksaber.
Her obsession with power cursed Mandalore, but she still feels entiled to rule. She "refused" to take the darksaber from Din in S2 only because Moff Gideon started to shame her and exposed her machinations.
In S3 she is so self-obsessed she can´t even sit like a decent human being and insults Din. She does NOTHING to explore Mandalore by herself. She uses Din as a literal canary in the mines.
She whines and blames everyone except of herself for the fall of Mandalore, while it was 90% her fault.
She uses the death of her father in the Mandalorian civ. war to gain sympathy, but she was OK with one of DW members destroying the memorial dedicated to those who fell in that conflict, including her father.
She lies to Din again about the mythosaur after that totally unearned encounter (Din was supposed to see it, not Bo-Tox) and tells it only to the armorer and only after gaining her trust because she knows that´s the easiest way to gain power.
And the plot bends about this villainous Mary Sue again and the armorer who called her a cautionary tale before now totally trusts her for no reason and gives her special privileges.
Nothing about this garbage fanfic OC makes any sense. Bo-Tox is a villain who ruins everything, uses everyone for her personal gain, but keeps falling upwards.
