Blood pressure medicines destroyed my gut biome after three years of doctor prescribed use. I couldn’t eat for three weeks or drink water for two weeks, until I stopped cold turkey. Now I study and practice nutrition, and doctor myself.

As a suggestion, search on YT for L. Reuteri, which is good bacteria for the gut. It is said that about 94 percent of the population no longer has it because of taking anti biotic medications. Making something which resembles yogurt places it back into the gut, and it is supposed to promise amazing health benefits.

I stopped my bp med cold turkey also. One of the most inspired & healthful things I've ever done. I don't ask my doctor for permission to do anything, & I say "NO!!" when prescription drugs are suggested. I follow Dr. Story's suggestions quite frequently. That's how I finally figured out I don't even have hbp. Currently I'm weaning myself off of a statin; weaning because I'm using myself (and a decade or more of my own clinical data) as my own lab rat. Blood testing yields info about cholesterol & blood sugar and I am using my doctor for those things because insurance that I pay for pays for the lab work. I'm thankful to have the info about your experience. 👍

I stopped my bp meds because I was getting high bp, fact. Half hour taking my bp went up erratically to 247/140, the Dr refused to listen and put me on another type of med, but during the change over, my bp returned to normal. It was here that I chose to stop and everything changed. My eyesight went into HD, I was in touch with my surroundings, my feelings are easier to control. Honestly, my Dr should be sued for male practice.

As usual Doc ….great video . I was diagnosed with high BP 20 years ago ….I worked in construction installing industrial vinyl and carpet . A job that is all hands on mauling that definitely pushes the BP .
My Doctor didn’t tell me to stop work ….
No doubt about it …when you first have the bad news of high BP you think all life as you know it is over . My advice to anyone would be …if you need the meds , take them and just get on with life . Take some exercise and try to eat as healthy as you can . Oh …..and follow your videos 😜

Getting rid of ultra processed foods is already a great step in the right direction, the rest is 'fine tuning' the diet, or as we engineers say, follow the 80/20 rule: the first 80% of results (lowering blood pressure and other important parameters) are obtained with 20% efforts, the last 20% require 80% of efforts.

I want to add a fourth suggestion. Even when on blood pressure medication stop the alcohol and recreational drugs, such as weed. My systolic reading was still constantly in the 140s. When I stopped the alcohol and weed, my systolic is now constantly in the 120s!. A typical BP reading for me now is about 128 over 78. I feel that stopping the alcohol and weed is the best thing I ever did in my life and I feel a million times better. Of course, this is t be combined what Dr. Story is suggesting here. A few days back I spoke with someone who had three stents implanted because of 98 percent blockage. He said now he doesn't worry about what he eats because the stents took care of it. I said to him that is farthest from the truth. Getting stented is only the beginning, which I consider to be a Band-Aid to the actual problem. The correct diet and exercise is essential so that potential future issues don't develop, or are reduced.

Even if you're taking blood pressure medication, it's crucial to monitor your blood pressure regularly at home. This practice helps you track the effectiveness of your medication and lifestyle changes.
Consistent home monitoring allows you to detect any fluctuations or trends, enabling you to inform your doctor promptly if adjustments are needed. Additionally, home monitoring can help you feel more in control of your health and motivate you to maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle.
    Great video!

Can’t thank you enough for all your advice on blood pressure. Our doctor wanted my husband to go on medication after a medical check to renew his driving licence required when you turn 75 here in NZ. He was given a prescription but we looked at your video and he followed most of what you said, delaying starting the medication. I took his blood pressure morning and evening, 3 times a week for 2 weeks and sent the results to our doctor asking if was ok not to start the medication. The blood pressure recordings were all normal by the way and the doctor agreed it was unnecessary to start taking the medication. It was probably white coat syndrome at the check up. However my husband has taking up rowing daily and follows the deep breathing as well as eating unprocessed food as much as possible.

Most times, "your doctor" has no intention of you getting off any of the medications they prescribe. They want to prescribe more and send you to other doctors that will want to give you even more. At one time, I was going to 5 specialists besides my PC. I had at least one appointment per week, taking a dozen drugs and spent hundreds per month on appointments, procedures and prescriptions. Most doctors do not want you to be healthy. It makes them no money. That's why I listen to your videos.

Simple recipes & prep yield great results. My equipment is avocado oil or evoo (olive oil) ONLY, an air fryer, some type of fresh protein (meat or fish), a carb like rice or starchy veggie like fresh potato, and a fresh green salad with homemade dressing (using ACV if possible). A great spice collection is very helpful. Portion control is the key. The DASH diet helped me a lot.

Death is a straight line, though the processes and procedures fluctuate like hellacious stock markets rides.Roller coasters.
