For samsung, you don't need another phone for QR code. You can save the QR code as a photo or screenshot and scan QR code from gallery.

Thanks, you can set it up before or when you get there. I typically wait until I arrive and activate it at the airport.

No, you can only install them on devices that support eSIM

Yes, but I usually wait until I arrive at my destination since most travel lessons have a timer that starts once it’s activated that will expire after a few days.
