To offer a dumber take on the whole “structural change is a horizon our cultural elites cannot peer beyond so they rush to reset a story’s world back to the way it was at the beginning” thing. Harry Potter where all the houses resegregate and still allow the evil house to exist even though they learn both those things aren’t necessary. Also Star Wars. They rushed so hard to reset the clock in the rise of skywalker after the last Jedi it’s a wonder jj Abrams didn’t snap his neck. That’s why it’s pretty interesting to read those short fiction magazines bc the authors aren’t bound by this weird psychic prison. Also David benioff’s dad literally worked for the bush White House and Goldman Sachs. That’s so weird.
The one thing that would have sold the ending for me would have been at the battle of winterfell when dany is on the ground with jorah and surrounded by zombos. She has to call in the dragon to burn everything around her, saving her life at the cost of jorah. Her OG emotional support is gone, she distances from Snow and advisors, ignores them and burns it all down as shown. All the rest is still 🤷♂️ but that's a standout missed beat for me
Books and show are about the same. Martin is not a master storyteller and just reading the first few chapters you know who's safe, where its going its a simple story and his love is the world cause he doesn't care about the story but he's a nerd and loves a wiki so he loves to make 'lore' and worldbuild that's why he's released those supplementals rather than finish the story
@@wealth_wolf Wolfie it's fine that you like it but you're going to give yourself worse carpal tunnel responding to everyone who dislikes your big fun boy's adventure in Westeros
It’s nice that Matt is hanging out with his pals Bert and Ernie.
Matt is the CHRIST-MAN if he speaks, we must listen!
amen, catjam!
I can definitely tell that dude rereads the Silmarillion.

YESSSS ever since I’ve hear Matt talk about the 30 years war I knew he’d talk about GOT. Inevitable.
Buddy was trying to pull a Christman on his rant about the north and it just ended up a word salad lol
As a book fan I started to notice the problem in season 5 they kept giving the viewers "bad ass" character moments. Glorifying war

Matt would lose his mind to Legend of The Galactic Heroes
Bert and Ernie are really hard to listen too
Its like like like like like like. Jesus christ that shit was hard to listen to
so this podcaster does this for a living but has an awful mic?
"pirating is my praxis" is the cringiest shit I've ever heard
Don't talk to people much do you?
Yeah and that little rant he went on was embarrassing
Wha?
fantasy is for regular people...
Eh 🤷🏾♀️ most of my friends who got into GOT haven’t read any fantasy since

Wrong
@@wealth_wolf okay, big kiss
Your right, he's just a Tolkien knockoff. GOT's just a sexually charged, more incestuous, shittier version of LOTR.
@@jacoenglander9608 Somehow even more wrong.
