A very good script, the delighful, soft and sweet colors of the 50's, an interesting cast (Sidney Blackmer, Warren Stevens, Vera Ralston, Virginia Grey, and Lee Van Cleef fascinating as usual)... So, dispite a direction without imagination, a little unexpected gem. Thank you for the discovery.
Do not believe the negative comments, the movie is awesome!! Really Good actors, great scenario, great cars, great clothes, great era!.Great movie! People who made the negative comments are stupid, because I would lose one of the best movies I've seen,If I would have believed those stupid comments. Watch it,I'm a reallist I speak the truth!
Enjoyed this a lot. Every trope in the book, well done. Made in 1956 by the way, and interesting to find a B movie in color. Some folks are confused by the label "English" movie. It means English language, not made in England.
What a most enjoyable and lovely movie! It was a great pleasure watching it! Especially since gorgeous Warren Stevens is in it (Rojan in Star Trek the Original series 'By Any other Name' episode),
Joan Crawford helped get David Brian into film. It's a good movie with her and David Brian called "The Damned Don't Cry". Check it out. Oh, Lee Van Cleef I knew his face but I was thinking older in those western movies. He was a youngster here. This movies was entertaining gets the mind off of the harsh realities of life. The colors of these type movies helps.
Totally agree with you in regards to "The Damned Don't Cry". Excellent noir with a top notch cast (Joan, Davie, Steve Cochran, Kent Smith, etc). And yes, it was Joan Crawford indeed that helped David Brian get his start in the movies (starting off with a contract with Warner Bros).
Greatly looking forward to watching this. THANKS for uploading ! Had never even heard of it before today. Was recommended to me by RUclips. Since the opening credits are not shown, I had to look up info about the movie elsewhere online. Released by Republic Pictures in Dec. of 1956. Looks like a good cast of veteran faces & love the lush color photography ! Unusual for a flick from Republic Pictures.
Thank you so much for the upload. Love letterbox what a nice treat. Great film. Went to check out your channel. You now have a new subscriber. Thanks again, Best wishes.
Please make sure you figure out a way to include more ads. I had to wait nearly 2 minutes for another ad to appear. And was stuck watching some old film whilst waiting.
Great to see this restored version screened in the correct Naturama aspect ratio of 2.35:1, and the color resolution shows how good was Republic/Consolidated's later three-color Trucolor, always lampooned by the arty posers. Shame that Republic's better release programme of 1956 did not work out for them.
A good movie plot, classic scenes of the old golden Hollywood days ❤ With a nice happy romance twist at the end... An unlikely couple between a policeman and a club singer! Enjoyable Film 🥰🎥🍿
😱🤢👿🤬SEEMS EVERYONE'S ARGUING, (FRANKLY DON'T GIVE A DAM😂). WHAT I DO GIVE A DAM ABOUT, IS PEOPLE LIKE YOU, BLOODY WELL RUINING THE MOVIE FOR OTHERS. CRAP, THINK, 🤔 BEFORE 😳😂🤣🤧 YOU POST. HEAPS, 🤪🙄 🍋 YOU CAN SAY, WITHOUT GIVING THING 😎 AWAY 😮
Wow big change for Vera Ralston. The 1947 film The Flame she was a blonde Femme Fatale. Here in 1956 her hair much shorter, really looks different, the heavy accent gave her away. She did four more films to end her career. Lee Van Cleef as a cop...doesn't work for me. He's a badass, crook, con man, heavy!😊
Most people today wouldn't get the irony of the Sargent's name being Lackey. For those who don't know it means servant, especially a liveried footman or manservant. Aka az kisser.
well done though it feels a bit artificial, the acting and the setting..the filmstudio very much is noticeable a filmstudio, but fair enough, it's overall very stylish, modern and clean looking. at the end a well crafted piece of film.
😂 always not locked the door in every Hollywood movies where anyone could come inside either for murder or whatever they want but they forget or intentionally wanted someone comes and do their job 😂 never locked up doors positively
GREAT COLORFUL 50s the American dream and certainly its Camelot! Beautiful women and badass men with stunning cars with wild paint jobs! Today our parking lots of white, gray, black clown cars that are egg shaped imitations of each other. Look and how much dignified everyone dressed! Today people look like hippies and are graffitied head to toe. God save us all. Peacelovelocknload

I love these Noir movies better than the crap out today
I agree 💯❤
The frocks, even the telephones are fancy and the cars are incredible.
As I do when I take off my hat, you make a good point !
I'm always exited about finding old movies that are new to me. Thanks for posting!
I agree, thank you for posting.
My sentiments exactly !!
Un film merveilleux , quelle classe cette actrice , merci beaucoup c'était passionnant
Oooh, I loved all of the furniture and interiors; especially the lime green office chair! Nice to see it all in vibrant colour!
The Gilbert Rohde Cloud table mixed in with the Paul Frankl console and other California pieces in Scarfaces apartment.
That Paul Frankl is generally acknowledged as the only one ever imported from Idaho.
The brilliant Lee Van Cleef as a cop. He's usually on the wrong side of the law.
Ian Macdonald is also in this.He was Frank Miller in High Noon.
Very true . Particularly as bad Amigo . 😁😁😁
Indubitably. Very odd to see him play a cop so early in his screen career. As you pointed out, he was much better known for playing nogoodniks.
Cool! I randomly picked this!

Ignore all the negative comments. I think this was an interesting, gorgeously shot film noir. I did NOT see the twist coming.
Nicely restored and color wow, a nice film thank you for uploading.
Such a nice, soft movie to watch on a lonely Saturday night. Thank you so much for this :)

You sound like a burner bot.
Old movies are amazing than today .❤
Old trite comments may not amaze as much as their authors believe.
What a very lovely movie! I'll watch it next Sunday! If You have more of this kind, please show them. A HUGE THANKS!
This is the kind of flick where it's good to be an history buff. Not that the story is historic, but the scenes are.
As I do when I take off my hat, you make a good point.
Hello from Russia. Those cars ! They remind me of my granddad's Volga 21 ( obviously inspired by 1950s Ford models). Good old times, good old movies.
Squeezed this movie in between the brutal years of Stalin and the current maniac Putin.

It is a form of clickbait.

A brilliant Story and well acted. Thankyou. Real movie.

a wonderful movie . Great acting from all the actors . A class film . Thank you so much for sharing
very rare to get a mid 1950s film in colour
Especially from Republic Pictures ! The photography & production values are higher here than in most of their movies.
Beautiful - everything ❤️ in this film. Thank you.
An intriguing yet simple tale - well spun & acted - thanks for sharing it.
Love those splashy Techni-color films of the Fifties.
Here we have Republic's glorious Trucolor (by Consolidated films)...
Great film, love the sets, costumes, script and interesting plot
Very good mystery movie.Lee Van Cleef was superb as a cop.
Nice 1956 Continental Mark II. Only 3,000 built in 1956-1957.
Excellent picture, well directed, photographed and acted.❤
These wonderful movies from the 50ies and 60ies❤
Sim! Havia toda uma estética e um rigor narrativo que justificavam em certa medida o fechamento da estória por um Happy End.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC 💯 💯 💯 💯
The woman crazy to go up to the killer's home.
Love the old cars over all the plastic and fiberglass they put on new cars today.
Really enjoyed this movie. Oh how I wished I had that beautiful old white car ❤Gr8 story. Happy ending.
The "Old White Car" is a Lincoln Mark II Coupe. Ford made them between 1955 and 1957..
This was great… thank you! 👍🏼
Thanks for this amazing Movie 😎.
I liked the movie. Thank you for posting it.
Great old flick! Thanks for posting quality entertainment. 💋

That was so good! And I'm a massive Warren Stevens fan! Excellent performance.
How right you are !!
Film was released in December 1956
Good flick, interesting ending. Tku for post.
That was a true classic great cast acting and plot the good old movie to keep you entertained ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great acting? Did you not hear the staccato way the talk!
Thank you so much for the upload. Love letterbox what a nice treat. Great film. Went to check out your channel. You now have a new subscriber. Thanks again, Best wishes.
love that seafoam coloured dress.
Wasn't expecting to see Lee Van Cleef! The cast is made up of some excellent 2nd string actors.
Delightful 50s cliche cop flick. Loved the sweet ending.
That light blue car at 1:08:09 looks like a piece of sculpture, gorgeous!
I think it's a Lincoln MkII.
@@clarehennessey3653 fabulous in that pastoral blue, and that gorgeous leather on the seats !!!
funny, as i saw it I said " what a car "
Love the huge cars Americans drove during 1950s.
@@Elainerulesutube Yes, me too. Jim from the Cold War Motors channel is renovating one (with the amazing talents of Scott).
Lee Van Cleef was superb as a cop.
Great performance. Thanks for sharing.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎉🎉🎉
Great movie, thanks 😊
Elisha Cook Jr. as the stoolie drunk. He played the same part in a million films.
If I only appreciate the story writer it would be a great pity because it's far better than appreciation, specially the Lieutenant ❤
The gentleman who is playing Mr. Hobart is Sydney Blackmer. He also played Roman Castavet in Rosemary's Baby
Lee Van Cleef, I know I knew that face. The Good, the bad and the Ugly with Clint Eastwood. Very good movie.
Knew his voice
Great cast, great acting , good dialogue, great singing, all i need . Thank you. Ive subscribed. 11-26-23.
mee too
A great plot I knew the woman killed him but didn't realise it was an accident very injoyable film
It is really fun to tell people how it ends so that you can ruin it for them if they check the comments first..
Warren Stevens was often a guest on Perry Mason.
Yes indeed ! A prolific career as a TV guest star, especially in the 60s & 70s. Handsome gent & fine actor.
The lady down the street from where I live eats apples.
Interesting story and good cast. Thanks😊
cracy story if u ask me

🥰 Thank you 🥰 Great cast ❤

Great interior set design

i love it she is in full make up after a major operation
How beautiful ❤️ People dress nice , look nice 🎉🎉🎉

Vera owed her film career to being the mistress & later wife of the head of Republic Pictures, Herbert J. Yates.
@0:58 how beautiful is that dress?!❤
Loved it

love this film-💯✌😐
Patients in these old movies always had their heads wrapped in a white napkin.
.... and had lipstick too.
Warren Stevens appeared in hundreds of movies and tv shows.

Good movie, good actors!
Could you cut out a few commercials?
THAT'S HOW THE UPLOADER, 😢 MAKE THEIR MOOLAH 😮
YT has instituted a policy of forcing viewers to disable their anti-ad software, but it can run around. Look up some site that explains how.
Just like many streaming services you can pay for no commercials. I do. RUclips Premium and it's not unreasonably priced.
Thank you @@looking4things669
Charming, every bit
😂 always not locked the door in every Hollywood movies where anyone could come inside either for murder or whatever they want but they forget or intentionally wanted someone comes and do their job 😂 never locked up doors positively
Very nice Movie 😊❤
The one thing that bugs me about these old movies is the police act like they don't need anything but a hunch to arrest and charge someone.
😂 still the same, for many people 😢😮
Good film. 👍
Nice 'Dragnet' patter from the cops!
"Just the facts, m'am"......
Great Movie but commercials every 5 minutes are not so good.
32:16 that Gown is BEAUTIFUL 😮❤
Entertaining movie 🍿
What a great movie!
Wow what a punch in the kisser he gave her
Reminds me of my boxing days. I ended up not having much of a career. I had a killer rabbit punch....but they wouldn't let me punch any rabbits.
1:25 I guess the rest of the orchestra and backing singers are behind the curtain. Nice way to stiff them on a performance fee.
I love the heavy accent on Ilona Vance, the lead singer, too. Youre right, where’s that big string section we can all hear? Hidden!
