The ACLU should host homeless people on their property.
It’s not criminalizing poverty. It’s get off the sidewalk so people can walk. Get out of the park so children can play. The homeless defecate and urinate on sidewalks. Enough is enough.
A C L U is troublemakers.
Right 😂
Interesting how the lady categorizes the sweeps as "criminalizing poverty". Does she think the laws to prosecute robbery and theft as "criminalizing poverty" also. What's wrong with having the homeless not break the law.
The SUPREME COURT just announced last week that it is ILLEGAL to sleep on a public sidewalk. This allows each state to take action they deem necessary.
It should have never gotten to the SC.
It is unfortunate for people who have no place to stay for any reason, but it should be required to sleep in shelters if there is no place to go.
Camp at the state Capital there's Mahu security guards and it's free
😂
i don't believe that the number of homeless people is that low,, i wish we were told the truth about these things...if i had to guess i would say 5000 people are homeless on Oahu..
I hope that ACLU can help the homeless for real. This will be a big victory.
prayers continue love hope heal teach learn work grow for and from one another more than ever. Amen
Like I said make one park for the homeless so they no block the side walk.
Never will happen parks are city owned and city does not want the liability to be sued .
@@user-xl7kx7bi3l They have trailor parks in the mainland, who owns it the state right?
@@user-xl7kx7bi3l Get trailer parks in the mainland.
@@user-xl7kx7bi3land the parks are for the public because they pay taxes for these parks and it’s amenities !
Wake up. They never listen.
imagine if the homeless was camping in their community or in front of their homes 😮
, these sweeping needs to happen for the safety of the community and the homeless community, as far as where they are going once it's swept , that's something they will have to figure out because they don't want to go
into these houses because of the rules and regulations they have to follow 😮
My grandfather had to find the Hoovervilles in the depression. There weren't any homeless in the cities then.
tell them no can sleep same street 2 days in a row or only once a month so they have to be nomadic and not claiming public property as theior own with make shift fences and stuff
The sidewalk is made for people to walk on so that the community has a place to walk on and preventing people from walking on the street. Homeless taking up the sidewalk is just a burden. People have to walk around the homeless encampment cause they parked there. More enforcement needs to be done. We need to have a clean beautiful city, a city that people want to enjoy and not have unsightly tents among the sidewalk taking up the center of the sidewalks.
Good luck making that happen..
Anyone can end up in this position 😂
Reporter, tell me more about the few possessions the homeless have
if your homeless hand have more than you can carry in one bag you have too much stuff,, I saw a homeless guy yesterday with 4 shopping carts of trash and smelly trash at that. Why should my senses be assaulted ever time i go to the store?
Timestamp: 2:03 2:09 🎯 I'm slowly starting to feel the complexity of a give and take dynamic to negotiating conflicting interests that you can see and personally feel both sides for: personal safety/rights versus communal practices of compassion. It's tough to allow for that gray area to be harmonious when black and white thinking is necessary in defining law, structure, direction, and boundaries. Philosophically, how does one reconcile irreconcilable differences? We're all human but indeed, coexistence does not leave me feeling safe in places I once naively thought I could feel safe in?
