I also think that defensive tactics & capabilities at the ruck have been fine-tuned so much with top tier teams, that only way that teams can exploit them is with precision & specific intent with their hit-ups. It becomes a bit of a chess-like game.
NZ are known for ball-running in open play, but with teams like South Africa & England, I think the All Blacks have to really prioritize physicality a bit more than mobility to get that edge back in the short-term, then maybe look to towards the open-style play next year or even WC year.

I'm a New Zealander who has watched since about 1990. I have never been worried about the current lull in our team. I've seen it before in the early 90s and we ended up with one of our best eras 95-97. An awful 98 then rebuilt again from 99 and only got stronger. It happens. It happened to South Africa in early 2000s and again mid 2010s and look at them now. Honestly I'm enjoying the game more now because so many teams are competitive. It got boring being an ABs fan in the 2010s for a while!

Our biggest weaknesses are wing and lock. Shifting Rieko Ioane (still the fastest current AB I think) back to wing, and bringing Billy Proctor in (a true centre) will greatly improve our midfield play- with Leonart-Brown as cover. We have a giant lock in Fabian Holland (a Dutchman now eligible for the ABs and in the mold of Brodie Retallick), and Sam Derry and Josh Lord both in the mold of Sam Whitelock - but both in need of a few extra kilos). With Vaa'i also contesting lock that frees Scott Barrett to co-captain the team from No6 (alongside his brother Jordie at 12) Sititi at 8 and Ardie shifting to 7. Roigard at 9. Jordan will be 15. The front row picks themselves. And the battle for wing spots is open to 4 or 5 players including up and comers like Cody Vai (a 7s rep and Bay of
Plenty). Andyou can include speedster Ruben Love who prefers fullback but can easily play wing. Release is still there too. And of course, gamebreaker Beauden off the bench - or in my opinion starting first five lol.

Most AB fans were viewing the Foster era prior to the first game under Fozzie as a disaster waiting to happen. It's going to take Razor a couple of years to rebuild the team to the level where it can match teams like the South Africans. Look to an improvement in 2025, it's going to get even better in 2026 as a new crop of younger players are coming through and putting pressure on the current players. The only success the All Blacks have to show for themselves is having played 108 tests, they beat the Springboks with an extra 400points by 62 to 42 with 4 draws. But that was the past. Today is 2025 and the All Blacks are rebuilding alright but bro, they need more concrete and and iron as well as that older trait of theirs' called consistency. They have lost it so they will never be the same nuisance as before. But who knows? Your propaganda for them might work in 2025 but I doubt it. The talent pool is getting smaller with time. NZ better domestic players have been lured overseas for the last 20 years and thats not changing. Those players did wonders to raise the standard of domestic rugby but with that loss the standards have been dropping for some years. Younger players lose mentorship in teams and the quality drops with time. The same issue's have been seen in other southern hemisphere countries too even SA. Dmac is rubbish at Test level. Too flighty, can't keep up and gets lost. If we rely on Dmac we are screwed. NZR screwed over Plummer so we lost him, Plummer out played Dmac every time they played against each other. He should have started most Tests in 2024 instead of a couple of minutes off the bench.

Yeah, this 'truth' is about as scary as unicorn dreams. Of course the all black will get better, but you assume that the boks and wallabies wont. Last year the boks tested their depth, making 10 changes from one test to the other ans we still won both. Literally two different bok teams beat you last year. This year the focus will be on continuity which means less disjointed play and more capatalizing on opportunities created. Many people will acknowledge that the boks never really got out of 2nd gear last year apart from the first test against the wallabies and the 2nd test against Argentina. Imagaine a bok team firing on all cylinders!
