4:13 - oh yeah, forgot to say, that Em to C#m transition, when the Em root sung by the choir/audience becomes the C#m minor third, with the slight tempo acceleration... omg, that's been working for 14 years, and counting...
I think they were suprised themselves at how effective it is :) It's the main note sung by the choir at the end of the Learning to Live (an E note, which is the root of the Em chord we are in at that point) which becomes the minor third of the C#m chord which starts A Change of Seasons. It's basically the audience that makes the transition while singing, it is surprising, uplifting and brilliant. Even JP who said he wasn't a fan of medleys recognized that this one had something special. And the smile on Derek's face at 4:16 sums it all up :)
@Satch6strings I've been following DT for a long time. Every thought they put into every single note, every beat, all the vocals, and the lyrics shows such a masterful and original way to pour out emotion. If it was all about money, they could have signed on to make four chord alternative rock but they've stayed true to what they love to play and have been one of the most incredible bands in the history of rock. I hope that they stay playing and making incredible music just like Satch.
That scream in 3:06 is perhaps LaBrie's greatest live moment ever. Gives me chills every time, even tough I have seen this video something like 400 times.
According to me, the best moment of james labrie in this song was at 6:17 because its a lot harder to keep that note than make a f#5. I say that because i am a singer and a f#5 is really easy to do for me but the note he do at 6:17 is extremely hard to do
true, this wasnt the best era 92 - 94 his prime. then 2005 - 2008 between 95 and 2003 is best time was this in 97 and 2001 after recovering from the sceneces from a memory tour that almost ended is voice
I don't know, there just was something about Derek, which I really like! Don't get me wrong, JR is a virtuoso, but Derek gave this Rockstar-esque attitude combined with a more edgy sound to DT, which I miss nowadays!
@thedonpetrucci Yes he did. Dt still got heavier without Derek. More was perfect for DT ONE. Derek even more perfect for DT TWO. And sir Ruddess, DT THREE to present, almost as good as both together. The dude would surely of impressed Bach And Batoven
HAHA I think you don't understand that making High chest voice like B4 is harder to do than a head voice note like the F#5 at 3:06 . For real, it's really easy for me to do a F#5... So goodnight dipshi** !!!
That F# sounded awful, really. He barely hits it, and it's not really THE F# that the song is known for (that one is from the middle section of the song). I love LaBrie's vocals, but this was a really tough tour for him as it's not too long after he did the damage to his voice.

Transition from Learning to Live to ACOS is epic. True DT during the glory days.
that chord transition between songs and then guitar solo.... omfg im hard

The only band to manage to trick a French audience into being musical! (I'm French ;) )
It's just amazing...
Absolutely great transition.
wow they flowed seamlessly between the songs!
Just amazing

Learning to live is simply beautiful, my favorite DT song... and mixing it with a change of season, woah, this couldn't be better.
I sometimes sit and wonder in these medleys why A Change Of Seasons is perfect in all of it's phases.
For the longest time I always thought this was the best of the best as far as live masterpieces go. I still DO!!! Thank you, that is all.
3:03 is unbelievable
"here before me is my SOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUL!!!"
one of the most epic and amazing bass riffs ever
no way! Check out "dream theater live 92 metropolis". It's an incredible feat in terms of range and emotion!
@thedonpetrucci
totally agreed
falling into infinity is one of the best albuns made by them.

3:07 best epic moment of this song
Wow, this is just insane .. Perfect performance.
It's on the commentary for this DVD, that's what Portnoy said
Wow, This is fucking good performance. Perfect!
Fun fact: Portnoy said "Au revoir mon (mes) amis" at 8:26 because he thought it would be one of his last concerts with Dream Theater
DT forever!
Oh, so close at the very end to playing A Fortune in Lies, if anyone heard that chord progression at the end
true, this wasnt the best era

Fun Fact: although THE F# was left out, that note is the same note! They snuck an F# in there!
a bit of trivia, it is actually an F#, the famous "note" from this song. So he 'left it out' of this version but not really!
Cause they can. :)
@Fabio2k9 oh, i understand...thank you!!!

Épico
An example of primo musicianship hardly found before this LIVE cd, and frankly not too much afterwards either. Tman!....
I feel like Sonic the Hedgehog listening to this. 😢

yeah, he was frustrated and thought of leaving, but that is not the reason why he said it.
just regular goodbye.
@RyanTF2 haha true that!
@graemecrackers now he has to say ADIOS PARA SIEMPRE
@graemecrackers I didn't know that. He was preparing to leave the band after one of those concerts?
Spread before you is YAH SOU~U~U~LLL!!!
@mariosbyron Listen to his performance in Score. If you still don't like him, oh well I guess.
: \
@RyanTF2 im sure i can agreed with you about "don't give a shit if someone else doesn't agree with my opinion" hehehe.
LOL back when the Disco Inferno was DT keyboardist
@JoSeM90DT And best one :-) (grooviest at least)
@TheThim51 jakjakjakjakjakjakajkajkajkajkaja xDDDDD he seems like sam xD jajajajajaj

why the crimson sunset?
is portnoy using rods in this?!?!

Kevin Moore was better than both of them.
@RyanTF2 yeah.....im sure that you dont know nothing of music....
