I could have listened to this town hall all day!
I was there. This was UNREAL. What a day.
Glen Badyna so jealous
Great vid. I listen to Billy everyday.
Same here
Joe Ochoa same here :)
Howard's the King and Billy's a God!
So enjoyed this so much. I really do hope Howard hosts more Town Hall. Hopefully with McCartney! That would be the best!
Thoroughly enjoyed this today!
Billy Joel is the King of Music.
It would be great if you could share the full interview with us for those like me who live in Manchester U.K. and cannot otherwise get this,,, and i totally agree with Mr Joel on what he says about the great Mr. Tony Bennett...i had the honour of seeing and hearing him perform on the Royal Variety show a couple of years back at The Lowry in Salford ...he for me was the highlight of the show although now in his eighties he can sure bring the house down with his still amazing voice i was blown away by the guy.....
Great vocals! Billy of course.
! EPIC. LONG ISLAND IN FULL EFFECT.
I don't have a subscription for the Sirius radio in my car, but now I'm getting one today.
Tony Bennett's voice still works, which is amazing.
Highlights from the Billy Joel Town Hall hosted by Howard Stern.
can you release the whole thing????
i'm talking about the video. I don't like Howard as an interviewer. He interrupted constantly. I would have preferred Ronnie Bennington do this interview. But Billy and Howard are friends, so there was no way else it would have happened.
GodofCable Howard always interrupts his guests and he is all over the place with his flow of questioning. He will ask a question, interrupt the answer and ask another question unrelated to the first and the listener never gets an answer. He does this on each and every interview he does.
Anna Faris Guys, That's Howard's way of finding out things no other interviewer does. When he sees his subjects starting a trend to a "usual" response, he interrupts to find out some underlying undiscovered nugget that no other interview can do. I guess you need an open mind to perceive the content of the subjects' responses, rather than focusing on the interviewer's technique or you might miss something.
oh come off it, Howard sucks as an interviewer. You can make all the excuses you want but in the end it was a mean nothing interview.
Listened to the full show the other night. Great stuff.
Bababoey walks right in the middle of the shot at 3:19. Dadadopey.
P!nk is amazing!
She would have been even better if she remembered the fucking lyrics.
Just look at everyone inspired by the Joelster. Everyone from Melissa Ethridge to Pink to Boyz II Men. That's why he's the GOAT. And I love Howard's infatuation with Billy. He clearly loves him.
Who doesn’t love Billy?
P!NK
I was so amazed with her voice. I did not know she could sing like that! Total fan now.
Jay Ayers haha hooray!
Jay Ayers P!nk is so awesome and is very sincere. Her music is so captivating....having her there was such a wise choice. She has quite a few covers from concerts and albums. Her covers of I Touch Myself, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Girl on Fire are incredible. Hope you got her albums too!
Yep, I have a couple. My sister has a lot of her stuff as well. She's really underrated as a vocalist. But then again, popular music really doesn't award great singers that much these days.
Looks like he brought out the vintage Yamaha CP-70. He recorded several hits on that.
No, that's a synthesizer.
@@Superphilipp ye he says it in the podcast.
Matt Lauer must have found out that Pink was gonna be there!
Matt later claimed he wrote Piano Man.
amazing
Its bullshit they took the original video off youtube. it was a magnificent interview and once in a lifetime experience no one will ever see again and all because howard sold out and had to try n remake it for more money
Awesome interview. I just heard this replayed on xm radio today and came here looking for it.
Is there a full length video available anywhere?
We need full length video!
Just full length audio on youtube
Is there a full version of this show?
Melissa Etheridge, Beautiful Woman, With A Beautiful Voice
who's the guy singing only the good die young?
0:11 Is that Loyd Blankfein?
Bababoey walks right through the middle of the shot at 3:14 at 3:24! Wtf!
Just like the planet wow i can't believe you actually caught who that was!
0:14
they got all 4 member of boyziimen.
Whoever that woman is that sang ‘Honesty’... Oof. That was a pitchy disaster.
It was Idina Menzel. In her defense, she was singing it in a key probably out of her range with Billy Joel.
Baldwin plays Tony Bennett better than Tony Bennett
If this is how they are going to release Howard's birthday bash 7 months later it will be very anti-climactic to say the least.....
Listened to the rebroadcast just now, and I have to agree that this was close to being the worst interview or guest appearance ever.
Howard was not prepared at all. 9 out of 10 questions that he asked were followed up with his own answers to the question before Billy could even respond, and even then Billy had to say "No ..." or "That's not right ..." or "I never thought that..." or "That's incorrect ..." or "Never happened that way ..." etc, etc. Howard has literally become the worst interviewer in history. He projects onto his guest, they negate his statement, Howard simply ignores the rebuttal, and he then just asks another question in the same projecting format. It's almost unlistenable.
They didn't have a real piano, just an electronic keyboard that looked like a piano, and Billy Joel complained on more than one occasion about it, how the keyboard felt, and how it sounded. Howard should have been embarrassed but instead just said it sounds even better than a piano. Wtf?!
The one woman singer Idina from Frozen forgot her lyrics, stopped the song in the middle of it for 20-30 seconds, then continued on, and at the end Howard said it was one of the greatest performances ever.
Robin had no purpose being there at all. Just acknowledging Billy Joel's responses as if she knew the answer before it was ever answered, or as if she was the one conducting the interview.
It was produced worse than most high school pep rallies -- Howard was an embarrassment while thinking he has the skill to just wing it with his psychiatrist-inspired interviews nowadays. A few times it seemed you could feel the frustration in Billy over the whole thing.
I've never been a big fan of Howard but I like some of the stars he has on his show so I've been trying to listen more to his interviews.
You are right. He isn't as good as he thinks he is.
In the case of Billy Joel, there were so many good stories to come from the history of these songs through the writing process or the experiences. But Howard doesn't let a thought process finish.
Instead, it becomes the "Howard Show" and the guest if just a prop. There's a lot to have been learned from the Larry King style of interviewing. Ask the question and listen to the answer.
Howard is not as good as he gives himself credit for.
Anna Faris Try HS's interview with Lada Gaga to see how he draws the artistry out of his guests, before you make a final decision. HS is after all, mainly an entertainment industry interviewer.
Anna Faris Howard doesn't give himself the title of being the best interviewer. He is easily the best celebrity interviewer. Larry King has praised his style of broadcasting and interviewing. You may not be a fan, but there's no other person that can put as good and diverse of an interview as Howard Stern.
@@DCFPhilly hit it right on the head. Also this person seems to spend a LOT of time thinking of Howard. No life.
WHY is Robin there? Howard you do not need Robin. Most of the time she is nothing but annoying. And I listen everyday for years.
Howard.... What is that.... A Mop on your head..?
Seriously...
It's a Rag ?....
Strange.... You have more hair now than 20 years ago
Ha.... ha !!!!
You must be talking about Elton John.
