Ghetto Blues album, dropped during a very significant period of my life. It was on repeat, in my tape deck, every time I'd be strikin' on I-80 out to Sac, to visit my cousin JDI (6-900) when he was in UCD ICU after being involved in a head-on collision. Never met Marv, but she know many of my family, from The Creek & The View, and my peeps Rup Dog & Be Gee...of course Ricky Rock & Mike Mosley! 😁It's About Time, is/was truly profound, and Female Assassin would provoke constant skeet/skirts in my '68 Stang! Good lookin' out, Soren, for more props to the NorCal hip-hop scene!

Its funny,even the artists themselves have that kind of Eureka moment of being hit by hip hop (as marvaless say about hearing SHG). Its that 1 moment maybe that 1 song we heard..we was drifting along, nothing really sparked us musically/or even in life in general, then someone (in my case anyway) gave me a tape with fat boys on one side whodini on the other, I go home, have a crappy little tape player, I'm 9 yrs old, I press play and baaaaaam! the clouds part, the sun shines directly on me, suddenly I'm alive,all my senses awake, and I am so alive thinking ' wait, what the hell is this,what is happening ' !!!! I just got smacked around the head!! And from there we craved it, and I'm still injecting it into my soul...a junkie.i was very lucky to of been in it from the start and see it flourish the way it did....
