    3:50 I would have told the police sergeant to go ahead and file the paperwork, and you'll see him in court... Good luck proving the driver was going 45... Innocent until PROVEN guilty. There's no HUD that shows what speed the driver of the tesla was going, and i'm sure the judge will be 10x more interested as to why an officer of the law was running reds with no emergency equipment activated, rather than some no-proof suit accusing a police exposing citizen allegedly speeding...

    • @Thunderbyrd.
      @Thunderbyrd. 2 года назад +60

      Same, I would have told him to go ahead and I'd also tell him I'd be posting it on the department's social media site. No way he could issue a ticket from watching a video like this one. Because it's obvious he was driving slower than the police car. Besides the argument can also be made the police were threatening him for calling it in.

    • @volvo09
      @volvo09 2 года назад +31

      I agree, and I would hope the judge is that honest.
      but for an FYI you can determine speed from video. You do hot need a HUD, and even if one was there it would need to be proven correct by math.
      A measured distance, and the time it takes to travel that distance gets you a speed. Plenty of people have been issued speeding tickets based off video.
      I don't know the exacts, but it's easy for those that do it.

    The reason the thief could get into the car at 10:18 but the owner couldn’t when he tried it again, is because there are certain devices that will mimic the signal that is constantly emitted by keyless entry vehicles. Once the signal is obtained by the device they can simply walk up to the car as if they had a second key, these devices can usually be found on places like Amazon for fairly cheap

The pairing would go away and come back. I wasn't concerned because the S was in my garage. This would occur in the Basement (proximity to the Garage) and other rooms in my house depending on conditions. I removed the Key feature from the phone. I would recommend that anyone parking outside turn off the phones Bluetooth at night, or return to the Key Card to access their Tesla. Phone will intermittently pair.

    Instead dan got insanely lucky enough to lose enough control and do a full 360 not only keeping him from being sent off the road but also making the vehicle lose almost all momentum and pretty much coming to a safe controllable stop after it all occurred.

  • @Rekuzan

    It's not a glitch, it's intentional electronic hacking. The thief has a device that can scan for and copy the exact frequency used for your individual car while you are using your phone or key fob to unlock it. They do have to be close enough to pick up the bluetooth signal, but can still be far enough away and hiding in the bushes or around the corner of the house. Once cloned, they wait until the vehicle is completely unattended at night and can then use that same device to send out the exact same signal, making the car think the owner is unlocking it, giving the thief free access.

    I don't own a tesla, but I did rent a 3 through turo once, impressive vehicle! I have a Fiat 500 Abarth that I got before Teslas got big. My little bright red car gets coal rolled on it at least once a month. I guess they either assume it is an EV or they feel threatened that I can drive a tiny car when they need a huge pickup to compensate for any short comings. They don't roll coal on my ancient Landy, so it is just the car, not me.

      I used to think it was funny as a kid because I wanted to race people, but I quickly found out most people get fuming mad... Just let them pass, let off the throttle if you have to, because you're safer with a pissed off person ahead of you than behind you.

    At 10:30 when the thief is able to open the door, there is some device that can scan for Bluetooth devices near by and then save their unique signatures. The device can then replicate those signatures and you can see the thief activate the device a few times while stumbling. Best thing to say is turn Bluetooth off while sleeping if your in a unusual neighborhood…

  • @lesliemandic9673
    @lesliemandic9673 2 года назад

    #16 the bluetooth amplifier sounds plausible however my thought is at night there are a lot fewer radio waves to interfere so possibly there was better range at night and the thief just got lucky. In the day time when Erik tried to reenact the scene there was more electrical/radio activity interfering. Don't know much about these newer devices just my hypothesis.
