    I have 5 cats and I totally agree with what you are saying. I am also a shaker! And aesthetically, I like the easy roll, but the bags are too small.
    I just purchased an XL so that I am not carrying a bag out every two days. I also like the idea of just cutting the bag when I feel it is time, rather than a set bag size.
    Thanks for the review!

    I started out with the regular litter genie and because it allowed us to put a lot in it, my boyfriend was over loading it, causing the container to bulge and become warped. After a while it couldn’t close properly. Not to mention how heavy the bag was making it difficult for me to carry to the dumpster at our complex. We only have 1 cat, so changed to the easy roll. So he can’t overload it. So it works well for our situation

    I have been patiently waiting for you to do this video. I have the Litter Genie Plus and love it. I just ordered 12 refills from Amazon, and got a really good deal (better than Target). They will last me over a year with 2 kitties. Both my kitties are about 8 pounds, so they are small. If I still had my bigger cats, who also had kidney issues, I would have gotten the XL. By the way, I am a shaker, too. I try to get every scoop I can into it before tying it off. And, I have become a master at only leaving about 1" at both ends! Thanks!

    Thanks for a very useful review! You addressed pretty much all the questions I've had about the 3 different varieties. I've been using the original version ever since we got a cat almost 13 years ago (in fact, one of them is the first one we bought, which is a great recommendation for longevity of the product!), and bought a second one when we moved and got a second cat. But when I saw this new "easy roll" version, I've been wondering about it. So thank you for clearing things up for me!

    Ive liked the original and am only wanting to change (its 7 years old) is because its come to a point where every morning i attempt to pick it up to move back and forth. The darn thing (and I can see the same on yours) wont stay shut anymore. Honestly... other than that... with my two cats it works great. I just dont like sliding it across the floor. Hoping the "super sized" one closes a bit differently. Great video.

      Yes, they wobble and don't line up well because the plastic is so thin. The XL is much better in that regard. I added padded feet to the bottoms of all of mine so they don't scratch the floor.

    Just found your channel when I was searching Litter Genie's because I use to buy my refills on Chewy and they are GONE now. I didn't even know Target sells their own version of refill's!
    I have the Genie Plus and Litter Genie XL. I have multiple cats and I primarily use the XL and was so upset when I was going to order an extra XL(I've had issues with the spring sometimes on mine) and saw they removed the original XL and now have a NEW version of the XL but it fits some newer refills they now offer - they are double the length so the cartridge is bigger and apparently not compatible to the old XL - however it does fit the Genie Plus. I bought 2 cases of the original refills (24 total) and saw just this week they are completely gone. I guess all the cat parents like me ordered in excess. I figured I'd just use what I have and be forced to buy the new XL in about 2 years when I run out of refills but all the descriptions of the new one aren't very positive. :(
    I totally agree with your points on the XL being best for a multiple cat household.... I've done the shake & squash in mine to squeeze at least a couple more deposits. I laughed when you called it deposits cause that's exactly what I tell my family when I am hauling it to the trash can - off for the weekly deposit!! I wish it was pure gold! haha

    • @KittyHelpDesk
      @KittyHelpDesk  10 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks for watching! I wasn't aware of the new XL before you mentioned it. Looking on their site, I see now that it's called the XL Plus! According to LG, the only difference is that it holds a larger refill that they're calling the "Jumbo" refill. It also uses the older refills. Check out this comparison graphic: cdn.shopify.com//s//files//1//0673//4191//0297//files/LitterGenie_PailComparison_US_4ba6f76e-c2ee-4c53-92c7-850962d8b305.png
      This is really becoming a confusing mess. I feel like they're making these new products in an attempt to thwart the copycat refills, but at the same time, they're confusing the marketplace by having so many different products, some of which are incompatible with particular refills.
      I'm not going to review any more of their products unless they come up with something that's significantly better!

    • @kawaiiwitchbaby
      @kawaiiwitchbaby 10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, the new XL plus holds standard and jumbo refill but my current regular XL would only take the standard refill which is now bye bye :( I saw on Chewy they still offer the old spring loaded standard sized if you click around their option selections- its pricier but I like how the spring really keeps the odor out so I'm getting an extra one. Yes its very confusing how they are changing everything - when I checked on Amazon it said there were over 5000 orders of the standard sized 4 pack refills. @@KittyHelpDesk

      LG is still making the regular refills even if they happen to be out of stock. They still make the original XL as well as the original LG, so those only use the old refills. Stocking levels will vary from retailer to retailer. My local Target always has plenty of their version.

    What a fantastic review. You answered all the questions I had and your info has persuaded me to stick with my 4.5-year-old LG+, which is getting a little loose and creaky in the joints (probably from shaking LOL) but still works. My main choice at the moment was whether to invest in another case of bag dispensers and it's clear now I will, because I can just replace it with a new LG+ when its time is up.

    • @KittyHelpDesk
      @KittyHelpDesk  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for watching! I just learned that LG is now making jumbo refills, including one that uses plastic that's supposedly compostable. The info on the LG site is a little bit confusing, but commenters claim the new jumbo refills only work with certain Litter Genies.

    • @nancyinoregon809
      @nancyinoregon809 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@KittyHelpDesk Thanks! After I wrote my comment here I started looking at refills and made that discovery, where users seemed to report the larger ones don't fit (in what I take to be older models). I looked around at other disposal systems but I still don't see one I like better. So now I think since my old one is a little crotchety anyway, and the LG+ box itself is not very expensive; when my current supply of liners is exhausted I'll just get a new LG+ and then the new liner cartidges should fit. Oh, I also looked at off-brand liner bags on Amazon also, they didn't appeal at all after looking at reviews. Thanks so much! Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

      I think you're fine if you just continue to use the regular refills, not the jumbo ones. The Target refills I use still work just fine. :)

    Thank you for this great review! I have a 20 lbs. dog and currently we have a small pedal trash outside for his waste. You could put a bag on, but it would be a massive pain. The area we keep it is a covered patio so rain doesn’t get in. I was looking for something like the diaper genie I used for my kids to make throwing it away easier AND to help keep flies away. The garbage we use now only holds 1.5 gallons MAX, it’s 10” high and 7” wide so much smaller than all of the pet genies. I know everyone things dog waste is wet, but not really. Esp if you don’t scoop the moment they go, which I don’t unless in a public place :)
    Ok sorry for the long background. It seems like the easy roll would work well for us. What do you think?

    • @KittyHelpDesk

      I think you'd be better off with the dog version of this product. It's called the Pet Genie. I have no experience with it, since I don't have dogs, but it works in a similar way. petwastegenie.com/

    Great review and analysis. Two more considerations are what cat litter you use, and where you place your litter boxes and Litter Genie. I use Pretty Litter because as for me it has kept smells undetectable for up to a month (except for a few minutes after a fresh poop) and is dust-free.. With that brand, you scoop only the poop which is dehydrated by the product, then stir the litter which absorbs the pee and its smell, rather than forming large clumps. As my bathrooms and laundry room are too small for the boxes for my two cats, and as my garage is detached from my home and not an option for litter boxes or pail, I keep my top-entry litter boxes in a spare room/den off the main bedroom, and need to keep the boxes and pail both streamline and aesthetic. So the original pail best addresses both those considerations for me, as I need and want the pail to be less prominent in the room. I imagine it is also easier to carry from one box to the other.

    • @KittyHelpDesk

      That would make the entire thing ineffective. Regular plastic garbage bags don't keep odors in well enough to work.

    I currently have the standard and it's about time to consider an upgrade. it barely lasted a year but it's falling apart. and I have 2 cats, and one is a chonker who produces a lot of waste 😅. I've been going back and forth between the XL or the Easy Roll for awhile. I was actually considering the Ubbi pail since it's stainless steel and doesn't require proprietary bags, but it doesn't have that hinge that cuts off odor. So every time you open it you're getting hit with festering litter clump smell. No thanks. That's the biggest strength of the Litter Genie system to me. But everything else leaves a lot to be desired. I'm still torn between the XL and the Easy Roll even after watching this video 😂

  • @catgranny
    @catgranny 7 месяцев назад

    I have 2 cats & I have the easy roll which I prefer over the previous Litter Genie bc it’s easier for me to get the rolls out. I can go a week with the easy roll bag bc my cats don’t go as much-probably due to the type food they’re on-so people may want to consider the potty habits of their cats before deciding.

    Litter Locker was the best. I wish they were still sold in the US. I did try the Litter Champ because it opens on the bottom and is more sanitary to replace the liners. However, Litter Champ is made of cheap plastic and a pain in the butt. I thought I'd check out the Litter Genie Easy Roll because it looks more sanitary than other Litter Genies but I feel it is a bad design with how the bags latch and with two cats is not realistic. I have the Litter Genie XL and I don't like that to change the liner you habe to touch the nasty dirty part and it is hard to open. No good choices in the US for these. Guess I'm stuck eith the Litter Genie XL. I had hoped the Easy Roll would combine the best of both, but it doesn't seem to.

    I wish they would make a better handle on the XL. So difficult to move when it’s full…or even halfway full. Top will pop off. Needs a better handle or wheels! I had to change litter box configuration so I don’t have to move it until I’m ready to empty it.

      I wonder if yours is defective. I've never had those issues with the one I have. When changing bags, I open the slide and leave it open until I close the top on the new bag. That really helps keep the bag from slipping off those rails. Also, make sure the flap is under the bag and not over it. The way it goes together can be a little confusing.

    i have the llitter genie original and i had the xl but for some reason i cant recall i got rid of it. but both had the problem that
    scooper holder would frequently detach and fall on floor spilling out scooper crumbs. the hooks to hold scooper holder
    seemed a little short. im wondering if the easy roll has the scooper holder with longer hooks? thanks

    • @KittyHelpDesk
      @KittyHelpDesk  9 месяцев назад

      The Easy Roll scoop holder attaches the same way as the others, but I've never experienced that problem with any of the LGs I have. If the upper half of the housing is closed (not the top opening, but the part you open to remove the filled bag) then it's nearly impossible to remove the scoop holder because the upper housing locks it in place. I wonder if you had a defective one or if the top just wasn't down far enough.
