I know this is a super old video and no one is likely to see my comment but I think Dolly was doing a wonderful job in beginning the weaning process with Baty. Even when he was the most devastated and was laying on the pavement, Dolly had her hand on his back and was rubbing his back. She didn't turn her back on him or not allow him to touch her. This was a very interesting and educational video, Arroz. Just lovely.
I love how during the showdown Dolly is like, you want something to drink? Here have some water. She actually took him to water. These mamas don't stop to amazing me. Always something to teach us.

Thanks for a very entertaining video! Your focus and movement are getting much improved. Your editorial comments about little Baty are right on and brings a chuckle. As a old mom, I remember so well, after weaning the babies, trying to teach them I wasn't thier chair, bed, transportation was harder than the weaning. By the time they are 18 months to 2 years, it's time to set boundaries about Mama's space and, Boy! Do they hate that! It's so funny to watch the same frustration on Dolly ' s face! We are sisters indeed!
he was so tired of trying to nurse that at times he closed his eyes a though he was saying "no point in trying anymore, I'll just take cat naps" this is one of the best I've seen of mom's putting their foot down. he's adorable with those big ole ears and puppy eyes...👍

These short tail macaque seem to have a different temperament than long tail macaques. Long tail infants are RELENTLESS at throwing huge fits, screaming, running right back to mom for milk, groping just seconds after warned. Not that these babies don't tantrum but it's so different between the groups. These babies try but they self soothe. They can be right up next to the test with their mouth and not suckle with out permission! The patience they have! Pig tails seem to be similar. They are so pretty too. These aren't as pretty IMHO BUT way more fun to watch💕 Also I've noticed the long tails wean very early. I've seen the umbilical cord attached on many of them. Clutching thier hands in the air just for something to hold on to. Way young. Too young.
There so many here the babies are so cute they all got lovely eyes I love to see this lots just wish they don,t walk in the middle of the road they will run down by cars thank you for your video bless them .

Watching this again. I just love Dopey. I think at 7:18 when he came towards Baty, it wasn't just to play. I think he was also worried about his friend who was crying. Dopey is a sweetie & wanted to make Baty feel better but "wrong place, wrong time little Dopey". Fortunately, Reddy was right there to rescue him. I loved how Dolly then showed Baty where he could find water if he was thirsty,teaching him survival skills. But boy did his little face tug at my heartstrings. Dolly & Reddy both are great Mom's even though their parenting styles are different. Bless them.
I love watching all your videos, I cant help thinking the babies are so cute while moms trying to wean its like you can see the confusion and yet the need for mom. Just precious watching them grow but yet still a baby thank you for all your post.
Some of these older videos are the best. And, as all of your videos, they show the loving bond between mom and baby. All these monkeys owners who have channels rarely get that the babies need love, not clothes or stupid staging.

Thank you very much for sharing Baty life and his mom to see all these monkeys in it is a great pleasure it changes obviously those that are seen locked up in zoos. It is sad and unfortunate to see Dolly to attack her baby so severely his poor little face was broken down not knowing what to do than standing still on the ground. It might be necessary to give some thing to eat Dolly because I found very upset she was probably hungry and this is why she spent her nerves on the poor by Baty annoyance of lack of food. It is true that every baby monkeys in their first year need this closeness with their mothers is vital and comforting. They cling either in the stomach or back and seek refuge if the udder and most of the time. So sometimes for reasons that can explain though for some people it may shock the mother becomes aggressive and abrupt gestures snatched the baby from her body just to have some peace minutes.But so the video is observed, we can notice that the mother retains a paw on the back of Baty as if to say "do not worry, I'm still here";) and then also the look she throws around during and after she bullies the poor Baty saying in her heart "not seen ... not taken." Hard to say if this poor little Baty will still be there in the coming months as it I find I hope emaciated it will come out and it will be well fed. we wish him good luck and to you all here because we rely on you to continue to give us news of our baby Baty and mother Dolly. Good luck !!

It does get annoying that all they ever want to do is eat and cling and whine and throw a tantrum when they can't have it. It's really testing my good intentions sometimes
4:31 I've watched this over and over now for weeks and looking back I must say this is the moment where I really started to worry about baty, he just laid there curled up in a ball like that. as parents we have to break their will but not their spirit and I wondered if this time maybe she should have just let him nurse ... but I see now that he is just fine and he is happy, he is playing and he loves his mom and his mom loves him and everything is ok!!! I learned so much from watching these creatures you know it would have been really bad if she had given in to him turns out in the end she knew what she was doing : )
wow! that whole deal was hard core! dolly was NOT playin mannn! she wouldn't even let him ride on her back and that was when baty just could not handle life anymore and wrapped his arms around the metal handrail pole and screamed and cried his little eyes out. you could just see him crying and sobbing. you can see his back going up and down because his back is to the camera but if you'll notice it matches the screaming cry perfectly! I've never heard a baby monkey cry like that on these videos, not like this! this is a different kind of cry than I've ever heard and actually more human than ever

So much different from the Long Tails though. Even though there is clear distress for both the Moms and the Babies, it's still so tame. The Long tails basically beat the hell out of their infants, and infants scream for hours.

I had seen so many weaning videos, the baby's tantrums never stopped. Some even like velcro, bees attracted by honey. But hungry Baty learned and stopped. Even it faced the nipples in front of it's face it didn't dare to suck it. I find it marvellous. This bedient baby not tempted with a dejected expression. LOL.
i can't get tired of watching this lil boy throw a tantrum. he's adorable, even when he tries his mom's last bit of patience...love it 👍 she never stops being loving to him but stays very firm on her decision to say "no" means "no"
I am always so sorry for them. They are frightened and confused. Suddenly their security and food source are taken away. And, how can one sleep on cold pavement, alone?
Just as we teach not to bite, they do to. They learn. My opinion but I have seen moms share food even hand them pieces or drop them pieces, seems like they are easier to weened, moms also show them to forage. When they can't nurse, a mom that doesn't share a tummy hurts when it is hungry.
At least there was no screaming fit about being denied milk!! Sometimes these baby monkies remind me of little wind up toys that you wind up and turn them loose on the floor to vibrate, scream, and roll all over the ground!!
WOW Baty and Dolly went at it, I think Dolly was standing her ground to teach Baty that she can only get her tea session when Dolly says it's ok. At the end Baty finally got her titty; getting her tea session, all was right with the world again!! LOL JUST AMAZING VIDEO as usual!! THANK YOU!
This is an old video so I don't think anyone's going to read this but still. I have motion sickness and I almost turned it off but I just turn my head and not look at the screen because the camera is going everywhere up, down, back, forward! On the other hand I really like your videos!
Baty is so tiny it just doesn't seem fair he has to put on his big-boy pants and act like a man already. He just wasn't emotionallu ready for this big step yet. He kinda thought he and mom made a great team and together with a little top up of milk under his tiny belt they could conquer the world together. Now he feels a bit estranged and alone since mom's been pushing him away. Wait til he sees s new baby taking his place at his milk bar.
Oh my goodness. That really touched my heart. I couldn't help but cry. I understand why Dolly is weaning. This isn't her first rodeo. He just seems to Young. He don't have the ins and outs down when it comes to forging. I'm worried he will starve. He wasn't acting like a spoiled brat. He was doing well. He was acting like he was hungry and a bit hurt feelers by Mom. He looked so broken, like why momma why? Poor baty baby! I have a feeling Dopey is going to be much worse.

Yeah. I've seen some human Mom's that allow their kids to still suckle. This is not as bad as others make it seem.
Just as we teach not to bite, they do to. They learn. My opinion but I have seen moms share food even hand them pieces or drop them pieces, seems like they are easier to weened, moms also show them to forage. When they can't nurse, a mom that doesn't share a tummy hurts when it is hungry.

Baty is so tiny it just doesn't seem fair he has to put on his big-boy pants and act like a man already. He just wasn't emotionallu ready for this big step yet. He kinda thought he and mom made a great team and together with a little top up of milk under his tiny belt they could conquer the world together. Now he feels a bit estranged and alone since mom's been pushing him away.
