hey man, would love to see a video about the marine biology section of the uni, i've been looking into going to jcu for marine bio, and would appreciate a little intel on the subject :)
Could you tell me about Masters in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the JCU? What about the employability after doing that course and what salary one can expect?
That would be a good uni for that. Cairns is totally reliant on tourism so I would guess that the uni would have strong industry linkages up there. Salary - impossible to say right now because the tourism industry has been very hard hit by covid
@@ChoosingYourUni What do you say If I get enrolled this year? Since it's a 2 years course maybe situation would improve in hospitality sector till the time I complete the masters?
At this stage Australia's international border is still closed. However, they are increasing the number of places in hotel quarantine and are also talking of doing a trial to bring international students in on charter flights. But nothing is confirmed. The most likely scenario is that no students will be able to come in once there is a vaccine. The current trials are looking promising so I think it might be possible by the middle of next year (but that's just a guess).
I had to look this degree up but it looks pretty good in my opinion. Definitely a lot of subjects in there that are in JCU's areas of strength. I'm not really in a position to comment on employment on this one.
Hey! I am very confused between Griffith and JCU (Cairns) for Master in Tourism, once you replied to me. Still, l cannot understand what to choose, so kindly guide me here.
Personally, for me, I’d choose Griffith - it’s a top program and the Gold Coast is a more lively area. But it is more expensive to live and tourism is the lifeblood of Cairns (obviously very important on the GC too) so there are positives there.
I’m a high introvert and the thought of a overly communal and high activity campus truly scares me. Am making the effort to put myself out of my comfort zone but am cautious not to over do it. The possibility to explore Townsville campus and the activities around are incredibly interesting for me to stay a year in. Thou as someone who doesn’t drive, sounds like its gonna be an issue for me to go get daily needs? Between these two campus life and vibes, which do you think would be more suitable for someone like myself? Hope to hear from you soon :)
This is the video for you: Being an Introvert at University [A Life That Travels Interview with Thea Orozco of Introvertology] ruclips.net/video/FS4UjIYBPLw/видео.html Townsville is bigger than Cairns, for sure, but it’s still not like one of the big unis in the main capitals. I like the laid back vibe. Cairns is a small campus and it’s not really in the city centre. But Cairns has lots of fun stuff on offer for students - lots of work, the reef, mountains and rainforest. Townsville has some fun stuff too - like Magnetic Island. The campus has a bit more life than Cairns, but still won’t be crazy. Is there a reason you’ve chosen JCU? You could also look at CDU in Darwin (in the tropics) or a smaller regional uni. There are many good ones.
Cairns won’t be for everyone because it’s a smaller campus, but I really like it. It’s laid back, warm and easy to get around. Lots of work opportunities in tourism and hospitality there too.
Thank u rob......sorry for late reply.....i like the campus a lot..nd facilites...i think u should talk more to students..any it was a good conversation..at last what is ur thought about jcu cairns..nd also.tourism courses in jcu..and is there more international student..?? Tourism in Cairns would be an appropriate place to study it - Cairns is completely a tourism town so there would be heaps of work and internship opportunities imo
Thanks Katie and yes, I definitely want to do that one properly. But it’ll have to wait a little longer until I’m back from my trip around Australia (see my Vlog for more on that).
That's a good question - not really sure on that. Overall, including the location, I'd probably choose JCU at the moment. That's not to say CDU isn't good,
Sorry, missed this comment. Not sure on the accommodation situation in Cairns right now. I did a quick search for “rental vacancy rate in Cairns” and it was tight last year, but not sure now. The uni is a little out of town, so it might be easier away from the city centre.
Hii..karl once again...one doubt..do u see many indian student..in jcu cairns..bcz it shows only 380 international student..nd also i am worried for part- time jobs..in cairns.bcz.itz far from main australian cities.pleaze reply
Hi Sunny, There aren’t many international students on that campus, but is that a problem? It will mean you’re more likely to end up with local friends and connections and surely that’s a good thing in terms of finding work? As long as the border is open and tourism is open again there is plenty of casual and part time work in Cairns (but right now with the border closed there is less).

Hi so i want to know about JCU brisbane campus, how is it and ranking and is it worth applying . Please dont go by the dp and name i just did it for fun
I’m not very familiar with that campus as it’s only a small one (not a main campus like Cairns or Townsville). JCU is a good uni and Brisbane is a very nice city - there are definitely advantages to being there. I’d also look at QUT if you’re thinking of that combo of degree and city.
@@ChoosingYourUni Thank you actualy QUT doesnt have the course im looking for but could you tell me one other thing i was also looking at Griffith gold coast campus, how is it compared to JCU
Are you planning on doing a review of University of Wollongong anytime soon? I’m a future international student from the US and I’m having a hard time deciding between Wollongong, Murdoch University, La Trobe, and James Cook University. They all have such great things, but I really like the regional and smaller towns of Cairns/Townsville & Wollongong. What is the difference in vibes between those two, as well as living expenses? I’m studying Wildlife Conservation. Love the videos! 💙

Unfortunately I can’t see the future 🤣 but I think within two years the world will be back to “normal” (if previous pandemics are any guide).
Hii rob, just wanted to know whats the current status of international students entry for the autumn 2021 intake due to covid.....
