Thanks for testing the changes, Deltia. I use Infallible Aether in 4-man content, and it actually puts out pretty impressive damage. The extra pen from from light armor is still usually needed in dungeons.
So I started playing ESO recently after watching how much fun Delita's "One bar heavy attack god solo the game" builds and "Plaguebreak AoE farming god" builds were.... I have been playing for a few weeks and managed to finally get my oakensoul ring and all the items in the correct slots / research all the correct traits so that I can reforge the items properly...... I then saved all my gold and materials to make all the items gold tier in quality and I was having a blast for the past maybe three days......Now I see that they're nerfing the plaguebreak set so that it cannot be used in PvE....and are also nerfing the sets I use into the crust of the earth.......there is no reason for me to play anymore.... I literally spent every second since I first made my account building towards this point just to have the rug pulled out from under my feet....... Now I can see the argument that I can just spend the next few weeks with the new trendy build.....but then what..... then zenimax nerfs that set into the ground? So then I try the next trend.... then they nerf that into the ground?
Not to mention he's completely wrong about light armor, not running light armor as a magicka dps is dumb. Sacrificing all those resources for 10% crit dmg is ridiculous.
@Iuppiterr I know that but you don't need the medium either and you have to sacrifice other stuff to get the pen without light armor. Best set up is by far 5 light 1 heavy 1 med
You forgot 5x light armor is required for magicka shields for classes that lack one. Soloing dungeons also means I will be in melee range 100% of the time. So Noble Duelist or 5x crafted light Order’s Wrath might be more useful than medium Storm Master.
13:10 you say the 2x max stamina of undaunted infiltrator doesn't do anything for us, but doesn't heavy attack damage scale of your highest stats so you could maybe respec into a stamina build then those 2x max stamina would be very useful. You'd still have plenty of magicka for your abilities due to the resources you get back from heavy attacking with a lightning staff. I may be wrong but just a thought...
Honestly Empower is/was not the issue. The single target damage was not on par with two bar builds Looking at parses 107k on a HA sorc vs parses of 125-133k on all classes that run two bar that’s still a 20-30% gap. If anything they should’ve raised the damage of empower but looked at scaling back tri-focus and left storm master alone.
Exactly right, there was NO issue with this setup except being way less powerful than 2 bar. Even the AOE effect isn't an issue because you are sacrificing a full back bar of AOEs just to get a bit of shock splash damage. You are right if anything it should be buffed.

it's basically the light version of kinra but with force instead of berserk so it's only good if you have high crit chance which the 1 bar sorc doesn't have
With hybridization staves scale with your higher rescources, so I'm going to try Undaunted Infiltrator with Sergant's Mail and Oaken Soul on max stamina sorc build. Edit: I have tried Undaunted Infilitrator (with max stamina), Deadly, and Order's Wrath. All are 8-10k dps worse than Storm Master. Gotta farm Noble Duelist now to try it ;/
Noble duelist is comparable to storm master, just realize that you are going to be well overpen on the parse dummy because it's a hair under completely armor stripped. Might want to run tests on the 3M, that'll give a better idea on comparing what you can do in solo/4 man
Nobel duelist is better in content and basic dummy parse. On trial dummy storm masters does better but still parses like dogshit now and hits like a wet noodle. Basically this build was turned into a solo only build with Nobel duelist and storm masters was turned into pieces of armor to deconstruct.
as a new player to the game there's a lot of things I don't understand but that's why I am so glad I found your channel. you explain things in a way that is very accessible to new players. Infallible mage is for two bar heavy attack builds because minor slayer is wasted. Oakensoul comes with minor slayer. Templars and dks can do two bar heavy attack builds though so infallible mage is for them.

Why you just don’t go fully stamina with undaunted infiltrator? You will have sustain for your 3 Magic skills with that HA rotation. It will be 100% uptime and you Will use sets potential
I'm glad it's not hurt Oakensoul that much . I've been playing for 2 years , never done a trial , done 1 vet and was told my damage was crap on the last boss , I was dead the whole time lol . And I only ever do the lower dungeons and no DLC's I believe . The reason is I have arthritis and it affects my hands so Oakensoul has been a blessing , it's just too much for me to swap bars and have another 5 buttons to mash . If Oakensoul came to a point where it was unplayable I would probably have to stop playing , so glad it's not that bad .
on undaunted the stamina doesn't technically give you any damage stats, but it does allow more breathing room for dodges or break frees so it's not a terrible stat to have :D
In theory yes, but really I never run out of stamina on this build and you don't need potions so you are free to use stamina pots if you need the extra so in reality it is a worthless stat.
I love Eso its a great game but i just hate the way they keep nerfing things it makes the game feel like a beta its a mythic ring it should be powerful. It doesnt need nerfs. Plus it helps those less fortunate to be able to get through trials.
Lets be honest here... Outside of fully optimized groups no one is choosing to wear Alkosh. You might as well go Noble Duelist vs Storm Master even in most group content.
Undaunted Unweaver set is a good alternative also. You get two lines of magicka and one crit chance. Just use a stamina ability in combat every 10s. For Sorcs Hurricane, Crystal Weapon, or Barbed Trap are good.
Have you tested switching out Storm Master's with Grave Inevitability which would stack alongside Sergant's and provides Major Force to compliment Oakensoul's Minor Force?
After watching the game play it appears to me that this is definitely a nerf. It continues to amaze me that ZOS adheres to the Blizzard game management system. Give them something great and get them excited....then nerf the hell out of it and wonder why people leave the game. Nerfs are never good....not for the player and really not for the game. Oakensoul build too powerful for PVP? Simple make it only against monsters....don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. These coders are lazy and suck at their jobs. It is always easier to nerf than to really balence.

Luckily i have a full golded out set of duelist sitting in the bank. Storm masters not popping off is already noticeable and being over pen is not really a problem, you're not even going over that much and thats assuming everyone else youre relying on are doing their jobs well. Run duelist, change to apprentice mundus, crit surge-hurricane-wall-ward-power overload. Face tank bosses easy af
@versechorusverse1969 if I'm in a group I'll put on matriarch and run as a healer or if im solo I like daedric mines. I open with mines because they do good damage and will immediately activate your minor prophecy/sorcery passive (the morph that arms immediately)
Deltia in damage control mode... The whiners won. If it's such a small and insignificant change, why did they make it? Why go to the trouble? Either you're not telling us everything or there is another reason. The actual decrease in damage is 5.56%. Not 10%... if you do the math. 70% damage increase vs 80% damage increase = 5.56% lower total damage.
I always wondered about the sunderflame set for CoA. That 10k flame damage from heavy attacks looks like it could be quite useful. And if I’m not mistaken it’s medium armor.
Only issue with that set is that it's a DoT and not all at once, or added per tick like the current Heavy attack sets. Personally I'm looking at Kinras's Wrath since the heavy channel should get you 3 stacks in one heavy so if you LA weave while slapping down DoTs you'll have Major Berserk going in no time. Relequen should also stack per HA tick but the slayer line is dead and it's just single target damage.
There's a few sets like that but the issue is that's just 10k damage straight, the reason storm master etc are so strong is it's flat damage added to your heavy attack that is then magnified by empower and a few other things which results in the 30k+ heavy attacks you see, sets like sunder flame aren't even close.

I’m still looking forward to June 20 for high isle to be available to eso plus on PSNA. I think Oakensoul will pair good with Magblade, vamp stage 4. Probably Pariah as second 5 piece.
Yes and no, regarding light/med armour. In optimised groups, certain light sets are still used. Runecarver on Oax HM, for example. Obviously, you would never use RC on a HA Oaken build.

Thanks for explaining this Deltia. I can already see all the elitist babies still crying that it still needs nerfed. However, since I suffer from severe carpal tunne ( only play support due to this)...I will still be able to play as a competent DPS without being carried so I am happy.
Have you tried building a max stam heavy attack setup and use undaunted infiltrator? Probably can’t sustain with wall but using hurricane and trap should be better than the nerfed storm master, especially with infiltrator’s 2 max stam lines, and as long as someone else provides off balance. Also, oakensoul gives minor slayer, so another reason to downgrade infallible mage set.
Ya, just tested max stam heavy attack with undaunted infiltrator on pts and got 91 k on first parse and not sure if med armor passives are working (cmx showing 115% crit damage). Looks like this might be the way to go.

It doesn't matter what u do or what gear u have it's about how fast ur fingers move for damage that's why ppl have bad dps with the exact build an expert has
It's not accurate to say the pen from light is worthless because you aren't getting 18.2k pen for free on anything but a dummy, just over 9k is basically free because all tanks will run pierce (+the 700 from CP) but the rest comes with opportunity cost, the sets that are providing the rest of the pen can be swapped out for other sets if all your dps wear light and the crit dmg from medium can be picked up elsewhere.
This. Plus SM still procs from critical hit. changing mundus to lover and trait to sharpened, you lower your crit chance and proc SM even less. With 5 sec uptime, that is a mistake. Another point: you keep talking about trial conditions, but many ppl run HA dps trial groups where you don't necessarily have alkosh at all. So, hitting pene cap is not that obvious in every scenario. Every HA trial groups know this already
Quick question, I leaned into the hybrid advantage with Oakensoul, on my Imperial, by going ahead and just going with Stamina --- since my damage scales off the highest, in this case stamina, and my heavy attacks ensure I have more than enough magic to always have uptime on any magic skill I use.... would Undaunted Infiltrator be a better build on that?
I think Necrom will be skipped by many and the new class bought with crowns when it becomes available. It's the first major DLC I will NOT be buying since I've started playing 5 years ago. Enough is enough.
10 percent didn't worry me much in p38, but what did is the removal of plaguebreak from pve. It seems lazy not to adjust set, for instance, stopping chain domino effect, but worse, it sets a bad precedent. As you showed, sets can be nerfed and yet are still viable with adjustments.

I was wondering if deadly strike works with resto and lighting heavy attacks since they are considered channeling. And if so why is no one useing that set with the templars. Why not drop the storm master for deadly and also utilize the radiant destruction morphs? Just wondering if anyone has tried this setup instead. Im assuming its due to damage not being enough but without actually testing it... it kind of seems like a no brainer if the HA's work with deadly. And just to be clear keep everything the same except for swaping storms with deadly. And maybe slotting thaumaturge and deadly aim in cp.
I am so confused. Going back to U35, ZOS said in writing, their goal was to reduce the skill gap and started by nerfing light attacks. Then immediately turned around and nerfed Oakensoul to an even heavier extent. So they ended up reducing high end parses by like 15% but gutted the overall damage by like 30% for Oakensoul, which almost no high skilled players use, they want their 2 bars. So after all is said and done, high skill players are still parsing 100k or more while Oakensoul is around 80k-85k. And now they nerf it further? Are we trying to widen the skill gap again? I just purchased ESO+ right before the Jubilee event to give this game another shot. Guess what I just went and cancelled on the ESO website from auto-renewing??? It really sucks when the game introduces something like Oakensoul which helps new and low skilled players. Then ZOS says they want to help close the gap so those same new and low skilled players can do harder content but all they have done since is nerf it over and over. Not only that, now they pigeonhole you into a specific build with almost no flexibility at all. JUST DULL!!!!
Going stamina wouldn't be better? All benefits from medium armor, HA will make sure you'll never run out of Magicka for your dot's and you will have plenty of stamina to roll/dodge/block/dance....

About Arcanist i think HackTheMinotaur made an OK one bar build, and i saw someone pars about 128k on trial dummy i think it was. (I cant remember the content creator for the high pars and if its a fake.) It was Skinny Cheeks commenting a pars from Kortekk

I have noticed I'm not as damaging lately with Oakensoul ring. Good but not like I would try do a veteran or boss alone. Problem is after I first saw you I farmed Master's Set Tempest Dungeon and I can't get the Lightning Staff!
@@usafirefly7967 I'm currently using Sergeant + Order's Wrath on my MagSorc and Sergeant + Noble duelist on my MagNecro. Order's wrath was an old suggestion and I've been thinking to upgrade to Storm Master but so far was too lazy to try. Noble Duelist seems to be a bit more damage but I'm far far away form the level of damage that I see people advertising. But it's ok , I'm a very casual player. I will definitely try Storm Master one of these days although I heard it got a pretty substantial nerf in the upcoming patch
i wish they can change relequins trial set from light or heavy attack to any damage dealt so we get winds and many more targets and doesnt make set clunky and more group play content i would totaly try relequin with sargeans mail im still pisses they nerfed vipers years ago and i want the rebirth of viper gang and no martial bs connected to it
sergeants lightning staff is 2, 1 neck, 1 ring, 1 chest = 5, storm masters 1 each on belt, hand, leg, shoulder, feet =5, and only 1 monster piece like slimecraw on head. if you have monster shoulder use that but swap storm master helm
Why further pick on Oakensoul though? Zenimax is so incredibly petty. Picking on a niche category of players who use heavy attack builds. It wasn't impacting on the game in any significant way, it just gave a small category of people a little bit of joy in still playing a game that's already bleeding players. The only class that's truly somewhat op with this build is the sorc, the rest are weak and soon to become worthless as an Oakensoul build, and I've tried them all. Why? Why shit on your players? How about we skip your latest chapter Zenimax? The Arcanist looks and performs pretty bad anyway. How about we wait to buy it with crowns that we bought with in game currency and not real money. Keep treating us like shit and people will eventually stop paying you.

That level of ease of use to the point that people have been able to pug trial trifectas means it warrants a nerf. The tankiness, ease of use and damage that these builds are putting out is insane and in stuff like vAS they’re actually outperforming traditional builds, and that stuff will still be possible and most likely still outperforming next patch because this nerf is so tiny. The reason lightning staff is used is because of off balance uptime. I suppose if you use dizzy swing with a lightning glyph you might proc off balance more reliably.
ND is fantastic. And you will be in melee range quite often. Most of the HA damage comes from Sergeants anyway. So any of these sets work well. Currently I’m running Solo Arenas so light armor is working out very well.

I'm actually ok with the general "against monsters" changes. It's a path to giving us clear lines of separation between pve and pvp builds.

Using Grave on my OakenDen arena build. Hits real hard, it just works.

on undaunted the stamina doesn't technically give you any damage stats, but it does allow more breathing room for dodges or break frees so it's not a terrible stat to have :D
In theory yes, but really I never run out of stamina on this build and you don't need potions so you are free to use stamina pots if you need the extra so in reality it is a worthless stat.
Might try Elegance instead of Storm Master for mag sorc and see how that goes...
I love Eso its a great game but i just hate the way they keep nerfing things it makes the game feel like a beta its a mythic ring it should be powerful. It doesnt need nerfs. Plus it helps those less fortunate to be able to get through trials.

Lets be honest here... Outside of fully optimized groups no one is choosing to wear Alkosh. You might as well go Noble Duelist vs Storm Master even in most group content.
Undaunted Unweaver set is a good alternative also. You get two lines of magicka and one crit chance. Just use a stamina ability in combat every 10s. For Sorcs Hurricane, Crystal Weapon, or Barbed Trap are good.

Have you tested switching out Storm Master's with Grave Inevitability which would stack alongside Sergant's and provides Major Force to compliment Oakensoul's Minor Force?

After watching the game play it appears to me that this is definitely a nerf. It continues to amaze me that ZOS adheres to the Blizzard game management system. Give them something great and get them excited....then nerf the hell out of it and wonder why people leave the game. Nerfs are never good....not for the player and really not for the game. Oakensoul build too powerful for PVP? Simple make it only against monsters....don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. These coders are lazy and suck at their jobs. It is always easier to nerf than to really balence.

Luckily i have a full golded out set of duelist sitting in the bank. Storm masters not popping off is already noticeable and being over pen is not really a problem, you're not even going over that much and thats assuming everyone else youre relying on are doing their jobs well. @versechorusverse1969 if I'm in a group I'll put on matriarch and run as a healer or if im solo I like daedric mines. I open with mines because they do good damage and will immediately activate your minor prophecy/sorcery passive (the morph that arms immediately)

The actual decrease in damage is 5.56%. Not 10%... if you do the math. 70% damage increase vs 80% damage increase = 5.56% lower total damage.

I always wondered about the sunderflame set for CoA. That 10k flame damage from heavy attacks looks like it could be quite useful. And if I’m not mistaken it’s medium armor.
Only issue with that set is that it's a DoT and not all at once, or added per tick like the current Heavy attack sets. Personally I'm looking at Kinras's Wrath since the heavy channel should get you 3 stacks in one heavy so if you LA weave while slapping down DoTs you'll have Major Berserk going in no time. Relequen should also stack per HA tick but the slayer line is dead and it's just single target damage.
There's a few sets like that but the issue is that's just 10k damage straight, the reason storm master etc are so strong is it's flat damage added to your heavy attack that is then magnified by empower and a few other things which results in the 30k+ heavy attacks you see, sets like sunder flame aren't even close.

Yes and no, regarding light/med armour. In optimised groups, certain light sets are still used. Runecarver on Oax HM, for example.
Obviously, you would never use RC on a HA Oaken build.

Have you tried building a max stam heavy attack setup and use undaunted infiltrator? Probably can’t sustain with wall but using hurricane and trap should be better than the nerfed storm master, especially with infiltrator’s 2 max stam lines, and as long as someone else provides off balance. Also, oakensoul gives minor slayer, so another reason to downgrade infallible mage set.
Ya, just tested max stam heavy attack with undaunted infiltrator on pts and got 91 k on first parse and not sure if med armor passives are working (cmx showing 115% crit damage). Looks like this might be the way to go.

It doesn't matter what u do or what gear u have it's about how fast ur fingers move for damage that's why ppl have bad dps with the exact build an expert has
It's not accurate to say the pen from light is worthless because you aren't getting 18.2k pen for free on anything but a dummy, just over 9k is basically free because all tanks will run pierce (+the 700 from CP) but the rest comes with opportunity cost, the sets that are providing the rest of the pen can be swapped out for other sets if all your dps wear light and the crit dmg from medium can be picked up elsewhere.
This. Plus SM still procs from critical hit. changing mundus to lover and trait to sharpened, you lower your crit chance and proc SM even less. With 5 sec uptime, that is a mistake. Another point: you keep talking about trial conditions, but many ppl run HA dps trial groups where you don't necessarily have alkosh at all. So, hitting pene cap is not that obvious in every scenario. Every HA trial groups know this already
Quick question, I leaned into the hybrid advantage with Oakensoul, on my Imperial, by going ahead and just going with Stamina --- since my damage scales off the highest, in this case stamina, and my heavy attacks ensure I have more than enough magic to always have uptime on any magic skill I use.... would Undaunted Infiltrator be a better build on that?

10 percent didn't worry me much in p38, but what did is the removal of plaguebreak from pve. It seems lazy not to adjust set, for instance, stopping chain domino effect, but worse, it sets a bad precedent. As you showed, sets can be nerfed and yet are still viable with adjustments.
I bought and transmuted plaguebreak golden jewelries few weeks ago, now i wanna drink bleach and die

I was wondering if deadly strike works with resto and lighting heavy attacks since they are considered channeling. And if so why is no one useing that set with the templars. Why not drop the storm master for deadly and also utilize the radiant destruction morphs? Just wondering if anyone has tried this setup instead. Im assuming its due to damage not being enough but without actually testing it... it kind of seems like a no brainer if the HA's work with deadly.
And just to be clear keep everything the same except for swaping storms with deadly. And maybe slotting thaumaturge and deadly aim in cp.
Does Sergeant's Mail and Noble Duelist affect Overload? I rarely see it as an ultimate for a HA build but it could be very powerful if sets buffed it.
I am so confused. Going back to U35, ZOS said in writing, their goal was to reduce the skill gap and started by nerfing light attacks. Then immediately turned around and nerfed Oakensoul to an even heavier extent. So they ended up reducing high end parses by like 15% but gutted the overall damage by like 30% for Oakensoul, which almost no high skilled players use, they want their 2 bars. So after all is said and done, high skill players are still parsing 100k or more while Oakensoul is around 80k-85k. And now they nerf it further? Are we trying to widen the skill gap again?
I just purchased ESO+ right before the Jubilee event to give this game another shot. Guess what I just went and cancelled on the ESO website from auto-renewing??? It really sucks when the game introduces something like Oakensoul which helps new and low skilled players. Then ZOS says they want to help close the gap so those same new and low skilled players can do harder content but all they have done since is nerf it over and over. Not only that, now they pigeonhole you into a specific build with almost no flexibility at all. JUST DULL!!!!

Going stamina wouldn't be better? All benefits from medium armor, HA will make sure you'll never run out of Magicka for your dot's and you will have plenty of stamina to roll/dodge/block/dance....

Order's wrath was an old suggestion and I've been thinking to upgrade to Storm Master but so far was too lazy to try. Noble Duelist seems to be a bit more damage but I'm far far away form the level of damage that I see people advertising. But it's ok , I'm a very casual player. I will definitely try Storm Master one of these days although I heard it got a pretty substantial nerf in the upcoming patch

sergeants lightning staff is 2, 1 neck, 1 ring, 1 chest = 5, storm masters 1 each on belt, hand, leg, shoulder, feet =5, and only 1 monster piece like slimecraw on head. if you have monster shoulder use that but swap storm master helm

Why further pick on Oakensoul though? Zenimax is so incredibly petty. Picking on a niche category of players who use heavy attack builds. It wasn't impacting on the game in any significant way, it just gave a small category of people a little bit of joy in still playing a game that's already bleeding players. The only class that's truly somewhat op with this build is the sorc, the rest are weak and soon to become worthless as an Oakensoul build, and I've tried them all. Why? Why shit on your players?

That level of ease of use to the point that people have been able to pug trial trifectas means it warrants a nerf. The tankiness, ease of use and damage that these builds are putting out is insane and in stuff like vAS they’re actually outperforming traditional builds, and that stuff will still be possible and most likely still outperforming next patch because this nerf is so tiny. People overreacting like crazy lmao

The reason lightning staff is used is because of off balance uptime.
I suppose if you use dizzy swing with a lightning glyph you might proc off balance more reliably.
Well yes, it just isn't particularly good because the channel from lighting is a large portion of the damage from this build.

ND is fantastic. And you will be in melee range quite often. Most of the HA damage comes from Sergeants anyway. So any of these sets work well. Currently I’m running Solo Arenas so light armor is working out very well.
