So this is my first go at building an AquaTerrarium.
These are really fun to make and what's more is that they are very simple as well. You get a really great look for low cost and if you are not very good at keeping plants alive under water...then this could be the answer.

Hope you enjoy the video guys. Let me know if you like this style of tank and if you would like me to do more of these and go crazy with detail.
Rellay love this tank, amazing work. I would add some small anubias or cryptocoryne under the water.
@@bendasfish1963 nice idea!
How to clean it. Or keep it clean?
@@ozerilhan1 so the idea with a tank like this is that it keeps itself clean. The snails, ,filter, filter being the plants, fish and shrimp (next video) all work together to clean the tank. It's all about finding the balance. That takes practice and mistakes to learn....
@@MDFishTanks yes indeed. Thanks for the advise.

Wow! I’m speechless.....all I can say is I’m very glad I discovered your gem of a channel.
Very cool, I'm preparing to make my own tank your vids are always a big help and inspiration.
Thank you and good luck
Beautiful result, simple setup. Ace work (as always)! 😮
thank you :)
I really enjoyed watching this. Thank you for making this such a great adventure. Keep making!
Thank you
The entire tank is amazing especially the white clouds
Keep up the amazing and inspiring work
Thanks gavyn
I would give anything to have my Aquariums fish tanks so Beautiful like yours!
Simply gorgeous!
Super nice tank. I had added a few more fish: they are scoolers
I will do, don't want to overload the system too soon after setup.
wow this is and awesome tank setup one of the best thats out here great work
Thank you
Very nice looking tank, some really cool ideas. Thanks ✌🙏
no problem
Been waiting for this! Well done mate :)
ah thanks. Nice to here 😁
It looks amazing! I can't wait to see how it looks once it matures.
should be pretty good!
Do the Boston ferns fo well in that kind of setup?
@@deletingsoon.3790 I'll let you know in a months time lol.
Just beautiful !
Thanks :)
it's great. real art. Hello from Kazakhstan.✋👍
Oooh My, this was so inspiring. I wanna go back to have an aquarium ❤️
very nice ..... like this style.
Very beautiful. Thanks
Great aquascape, really natural and not over engineered or fussy, I would put more wcmms in though as they always seem happier in a group of 6 or more in my expierience, mine started shoaling at 5.
You me too. I just wanted the tank to establish before upping the bio load.
@@MDFishTanks I'm a big fan of the wcmms, The gold ones really stand out against natural grays and greens in your aquascape.
I have the standard variety in my grey stone and soil based tank and they blend in too much, Think I'm going to swap them out for some golds. . . Of course that would mean having to make a new aquascape that suits the standard white clouds, maybe some test light colours, white stones and sand maybe.
Man this looks so cool. I would love to get into this but I wouldn't know where to begin and it looks expensive.
Same
All you need is a (pre-used?) tank and a lamp. The rest you can literally salvage in the outdoors it's very simple and cheap.
I'd say practice with glass jars, bottles etc... first.
You can practice by saving money for it and then doing the whole thing all togethor.
Looks amazing!
Thank you
Very Nice Aquarium and is sooo cool 😎🐠🐟👍
Thank you
Beatiful result👍👍
Very nice, simple but most effective. Greetings from Cumbria in the U.K.
Mantul..dink
sublime.... POW !
Another great vid pal. I've recently come across your channel & have now watched nearly all your content. George Farmer is a very knowledgeable aquascaper with great content but for the average for the average man trying his hand at this hobby can think its not possible on a budget. You show you don't need fancy lights & co2 to create beautiful work. I doth my cap good sir & keep up the wonderful content.
That's great to hear because that's kind of idea behind my channel. Try to get pro looking scapes (or as close as we can) without spending the earth.
Bloody wife interrupting me & I've repeated myself again 🙄😂
Your content is Bob on 👍🏻 I've already bought a 180 lt tank & built it into the wall between the kitchen & living room & a 26 lt for my office desk. I've only discovered aquascaping 3 months ago 😂
@@nobbylad7598 Haha. After 6 months, my with finally let me get a 5 gallon cube...1.5 years later, I have about 8 tanks on rotation 😂😂😂...if you want a good excuse, start making videos. She cant argue when you are doing this for other people to enjoy lol
@@MDFishTanks I think i need a little more practice & 1 or 2 more vids from you :) She's already said we'll end up with tanks all over the house! Being a joiner who works on barn conversions & restoration projects makes you want it to be perfect & this has a learning curve i knew nothing about.
Loved it.
Thank you 😊
Amazing place for the fish and it looks amazing
👍👍😊
That's right.
You just gave me a great idea on that fountain. instead of running a hose to the internal filter inside tank i'll just put the output of my eheim 2217 on there :). thanks for the inspiration!
Yeah that works too. Flow might be a bit high though?
@@MDFishTanks yea i'll have to use a ball valve to tone it down a bit :)
Beautiful tank😍💕🙋
Thank you
Another beautiful tank. I love all the elements of this scape. Golden white clouds are such a beautiful fish and so underrated. Bravo.
nice setup my friend !
thanks mate
Amazing.
👍💕👍
😊
Love it
Thanks Rosa
Nice Paludarium!
I love it... 😽
Nice video and very beautiful set up looks very natural 👌🏼👌🏼
But I have to ask you is there enough oxygenation ? Cause the water come through the the rock and don’t make much turbulence
wow
just wow
Nice to hear 👍
can you do a vid on a betta no co2 no filter??
would be nice if you could
Awesome..
😁
Well done mate🍺
Thank you 👍
You make it look so simple....and easy🤗...i do have a question though...wont the paper towel holding the soil and the roots of the fern disintegrate in a few days when it is in contact with the water causing the whole soil to spill out? How do you manage it from not happening please?
nice..
Good video 👍😄
Amazing setup!!! What is the substrate behind the stone wall?
Could u explain wrapping the fears roots y
Hi, really great tank, I've one that look like this, is 50cm×30×25.
I 'd like to setup something like this but I've some questions... the water remain clean without aquatic plants? Can I use a tank like this For some guppy endler? Thanks a Lot. Marco
Loving the rock wall and how you drilled holes in the rock. What kind of drill bit do you need for that? Do you only have one hose inserted in the one rock or multiple hoses to keep the moss moist? I'm having trouble making a dynamic and interesting aquascape. My tank is rimless with a lid, so I feel it's a bit harder to make something like what you made with a lidded aquarium. Or maybe i'm making excuses for myself - that's probably it.
The drill bit is just a standard masonry bit. I just have the one hose and then place the moss close together and the water travels all the way through.
Looks amazing, looking to use a 29 gallon my first setup like this,What pump is used?Watching helped my see how that could work. Thanks
This tank looks unbelievable👍 I really want to try this myself now😁
Do it!!!!!! 😂
@@MDFishTanks alright then. Your on. Let's see who's will be better😅 lol
@@GalahsArk if yours is better...I will redo mine much bigger haha
@@MDFishTanks haha. Okay. Remember, detail is better than size😅 Who will be the judge? Can't be biased
@@GalahsArk dont worry, I wont be biased
I love your idea! Thank you for sharing! May I know what material can I use to replace real rocks?? It’s too heavy for when I move home....with a tank full of real rocks......😅😅😅😅
Hey MD fish tanks, do you think it is okay to have aquatic frogs and fish in this aquarium?
I'd like to see a tour of all your tanks and maybe some narration? I haven't sorted through your older videos as I just subscribed and although I like your music I'd like to hear you say a thing or two. Also, aren't you concerned with the paper towel falling apart over time? How does a setup like this with the paper towel method look a month or two later? This is an amazing setup! Also, why not glue the rocks in place? Are they that sturdily placed?
Hi. No need to glue the rocks as they are placed securely. Not sure how long the setup will last as it's the first of its type that I have done.
👍
Is superglue actually safe for the fish? Do you have to get a certain type? I would be a little paranoid about using it in the water with fish
Hi, great project.
I had a short question, what kind of filter are you using? Also is the filter isolated from the substrate in order to avoid clogging?
Thanks!
Just a cheap 300l/hr internal filter. Yes isolated from substrate
@@MDFishTanks Thanks!
I'm in love. I have some old tanks I broke down and want to do exactly this. How long can the ferns go like that? What was the planting process?
The ferns are a bit of a test but ive seen others do it with success. The roots and soil are just wrapped in paper towel and then placed on the rocks just touching the water.
I bought and made a 12"X12"X12" one because of this video. Never considered it before. Really cool!!! HOWEVER, the water is always dark and the dirt from the Peace Lily and ferns is getting into the sand and water.
What is the "substrate" used behind the wall in this video? Thank you!
do the fishes need some oxygen from an aeorator or bubble?
Amazing, as usual. Isn't there a risk that the paper towel might dissolve and the soil make a mess in the water column? Could it be replaced by a small cotton bag or handkerchief?
Thanks and keep them coming.
Thank you. Yes, ideally you could use filter floss...but paper towel is all I had at the time
How often is cleaning needed with fish in water? How well do the plants do warped not in substrate? I just built a terrarium and I’m wanting to add fish just not sure re the cleaning and or if I set it up correctly
I love it, does your tank have a filter ?
Just a tiny one attached to the rock fountain.
❤
Are amanos a bad idea for setups like these? Since they have a tendency to jump
💝
What substructure or substrate are you using in your tank
How u clean the filter? And how u moist those ferns or moss on rocks? Need chiller? My room temp is 30 deg
Cool one 😎, are the roots inside the water or outside and you wet them veryday? If inside please tell me how shall i make them???? 😅
Just discovered this channel - fantastic! Subbed
Is that a divider between the tank separating the fish area from the plants and other things? If so how the hell did you do that successfully?
I notice you have ferns in this one. And in your little bowl aquaterrium youhad a diff plant. Any ideas for a small fern that would fit in the small aquaterrium? I can't seem to find one that can have bottom half in water and top half growing out? Really interested in replicating what you're doing (although yours are so much nicer!). Thanks.
Hi md fish tank the tank is fantastic, I wanted to ask you some detail on the filter, of what brand is and how much power it delivers, or if you can put the link in the description, thanks and keep it up.
It's just a generic cheap 100l/hr Ebay special. Do a search. They cost next to nothing.
@@MDFishTanks thanks for the answer and a last question, what water did you use for aquarium? water from the tap or osmosis water?
@@tonyamerica7817 rain water from my discus tank. So its mature and full of beneficial bacteria
What sort of substrate did you used behind the rocks?
what have you got your light propped up on?
How safe is moss from outside for the animals I keep in it? I mean of course after cycling it for some time. Is therer a chance for something harmful from outside after about two months?
Can I ask where you get tanks with these dimensions from?
this tank is a Ciano 60 turtle terrarium....but i like it for fish lol
How do you clean it and keep the water clear?
I'm going to start doing aquarium things like this. Do you have any tips for me? I'm not sure if you respond to comments but that would be great. Also, do you know anything that a beginner could do?
N-N-N-NOTI-SQUAD
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFIRST!!!! 🔥😀🔥
Just wondering, how you clean your detailed aquarium..
That is the whole point. It is a self contained ecosystem. It doesnt need interference from us. Terrarium differs from Aquarium.
I don't have a tank, but i'm thinking of one - so i have question - this kind of tank with so many rocks must be built in spot, where it will be standing? Or i can move it without water and glass will bear weight?
Yes, it is best to build in place
Is this filtration sufficient? Are not algae formed?
Where did you get them rocks from?
Isn't that called a Riparium?
Love your channel 💚
Its slow mo sand time. 😁😁
Haha. (Trademark) 😂
👍👍👍. I have a question. Does water flow into the substrate damage the roots of the ferns or any other plant?
I don't think so as the roots are only just touching the water
@@MDFishTanks Than what is the purpose of building up substrate behind the stone wall. Sorry for too much question
@@mdsea7923 no problem, this gives a better environment for beneficial bacteria to live and keep the water quality good.
Just as I was about to ask if you could put fish or other creatures in the aquascape, you started adding the minos 😂😂👍 However, I wanted to ask. If someone had, say a small lobster as a pet, could one put a lobster in the aquarium?????
It's that water pump behind the rock sir ??
Awesome job man but may I ask why you put the fern roots wrapped in paper towel? I'm still setting up mine but idk what terrestrial plants to use
So that the soil the roots sit in is contained and doesnt leach into the water
@@MDFishTanks okay thanks
@@MrTim69ing no problem mate
Could you not put the fern in with bare roots like in a net pot
@@kathymacomber5115 maybe, I just wanted to make sure I gave them the best chance so wrapped the soil. This is all learning for me.
Where can i buy the tank?
How much if i buy like that?
Do beautiful
Thanks
How long it takes before this needs to be cleaned?
Where do you get all the materials to do this?
I buy some from local fish shops and I also keep my eyes open all the time in the countryside side
why did you wrap the roots with paper towel? can I just submerge those in water? :) would love to get a reply from you. :)
man I want to do this so bad
What type of water is this?? Salt water??
very easy
Thanks. Why not give it a go yourself? 😊
i have 30gallon US,and im just using 14watts is it ok for my low tech plant?ty
I cant say for sure. But watch your plants. They will tell you pretty fast if they have enough light of not.
@@MDFishTanks i think they growing,it almost 1 week and i see some roots to other plant body.
@@joelacasio9481 then everything is good 😊
Thankyou, coz someone tell me that every 1 gallon need 1 watts, and feels me like i have to pay my mom for electril bill 😁,btw im inspired to your video whit just 3 stone i do it too just an ordinary stone from river. More video sir 🙌
What kind of sand do you use for your fish tanks
Just pool filter sand from local builders merchants
Do you have to rinse pool filter sand like normal aquarium substrate or can you just chuck it in. Sorry if this is a dumb question lol
@@jackd5181 you don't have to but it is always better too if you want that crystal clear look from the start.
