José Carreras on his work against Leukaemia (Interview, 2013)

On the occasion of the José Carreras Gala 2013, the opera singer visit Die Harald-Schmidt-Show to bring his Foundation against Leukemia closer to the public. José Carreras started 30 years ago the Josep Carreras Foundation and from then, the opera singer celebrates an annual Opera Gala to raise funds for the cause.
The singer performed the opera "The Judge" composed by Christian Kolonovits for the tenor.

José Carreras is also a survivor of cancer. He was diagnosed with leukemia in 1987, did diagnosis and treatments, but thank God, he recovered and survived cancer.

Jose Carreras is one of my favourite opera singers, along with Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Joseph Calleja, Jonas Kauffman, and the late Luciano Pavarotti.

Is English the only way they could communicate? As an American I can say both men's English is outstanding!

Carreras probably didn’t speak enough German but is likely fluent in Italian English and of course Spanish. The great tenor Nicolai Gedda was fluent in 6 languages.
