    What option for a subcontractor that has to bring in an employee 4 out of 12 months.

    So glad I found this page! You make it easier than the QB reps I've spoken too.
    I am moving from W2 employee to 1099 consulting. My husband is also turning a hobby to a fulltime self owned service only business. we are working to set up an incorporation for both of us to report through (S corp).
    I am wondering if QB online or QB self employment will work better with the two different business operations (both are technically service roles)?

    • @5MinuteBookkeeping
      @5MinuteBookkeeping  4 года назад

      Hi Meems. I would recommend using QuickBooks Online Simple Start - especially because you're setting up an Scorp.

    Quick question, I am a solo operator, I own a lawncare business. I have no employees, however I do have an LLC, I use my business debit card/business checks for all expenses and all payments from clients are automated ACH into my Business Checking using Stripe. Will Quickbooks Self Employed work for me? or are there things in simple start that I will need? Thanks for your help!

    Question: I'm a sole proprietor and I have one employee (I'm hopeful to get to 2-3 employees by the end of the year) What is the best software platform for me? I used to have a grew to hate QB as they seem to manage to charge for EVERYTHING including software updates.

      Hi. That's a great question. I can't answer specifically since I don't know your specific business needs. However, between QB Self Employed and QB Online, QB Online would be the right option for you since you have employees.

    Hi Veronica, I have been a contract personal trainer and have qb, now I am also an Uber driver. Should I keep everything separate? Meaning run my PT biz through qb and Uber related stuff thru Self Employed?

    • @VeronicaWasek
      @VeronicaWasek 5 лет назад

      You could try tracking both businesses in QBO using Classes to distinguish between the two businesses (requires QBO Plus subscription) or use QBO and QBSE. It's up to you depending on how much you want to pay for QBO Plus and whether you want to work with separate apps.

    What if you aren't sure if you'll ever be able to afford an employee? I'm planning on starting a business as an artist as a Single-Member LLC. At some point it might make sense to hire an assistant, but currently, it doesn't look like that will happen any time soon, if ever. What would you suggest for someone in my position? Should I just start paying for QB Online and hope I'm not just going to keep throwing money out the window? Or can I just upgrade if the situation ever changes?
    How difficult would it be to switch from a Single-Member LLC to just a normal LLC? Is there even a difference aside from my starting to include an employee in my bookkeeping/taxes?

    • @5MinuteBookkeeping
      @5MinuteBookkeeping  4 года назад +1

      Ultimately, it's your decision as far as what makes sense to you and your business. However, there is currently no way to convert or upgrade from QB Self Employed to QuickBooks Online.

    Hi, I am a musician, gigging and teaching but I work with several bands, get the gigs and pay the gig money, I dont ‘employ’ them, it’s just me who usually gets the gigs and shirts the contracts and payments out. I have a trading as bank account to help keep it income and separate from my personal bills, but like to give them a statement for their own taxes end of each year. Which quickbooks is best for me? All my expenses have to come from gigs and teaching.

      You could use QB Self Employed. It's fairly simple. You may want to get the free trial and see if it fits your needs. Otherwise, use QB Simple Start.

      Hi Florence. If you are buying and selling property, then QuickBooks Online is probably a better fit for your business needs. You'll be able to track property purchases and sales.

      You can use Turbotax to file your personal tax return. For rental properties, you should use QuickBooks Online. For any small business (with or without employees ) - use QuickBooks Online.

    I am a REALTOR®and struggle with Quickbooks self employed because the categories are not specific to my real estate business. I am an independent contractor and have no need for all the extras that come with QB Online. Have you got any suggestions on how to change the categories? Or is there another product I should be considering?

      If QBO is too much for your type of business, try using Wave accounting. It's free and fairly simple to use.

    Self Employed did not have the reports we needed. We upgraded to Online. QB continued to take the monthly fee out of our account. To cancel, You can only do it online. Cannot talk to human. I canceled THREE times before they ever canceled on their side. Now that I am asking for a credit they will only give me three months credit.

      QB Self Employed is quite limited in reporting. I'm sorry you had such a hard time with cancelling the service.

    The cost is relevant to most people this woman doesn't mention it .
