Hi there, you need to have a separate QBO account for each business. Simple start would be the place I'd start. The time it saves at end of year to not have to pull together all the expenses seems like it would be worth it. The profit and loss statement can be used to help you fill out the tax form. Most CPAs/Tax preparers would only need that to do a return. Or a General Ledger from QBO. This is Plus. We don't recommend self employed in general. Have you started using it yet? We'd recommend Simple-start instead. You can't upgrade from Self employed to the other ones, so that's the biggest downside.

You can absolutely print and send the reports. When you run a report, look in the top right hand corner of the report and you will see a little printer icon. You can do it there.

Is QBO a good fix for running an RV park with 100 plus tenants. Need to keep track of rents (income) and expenses (maintenance, etc). Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
QBO can handle the accounting, but you might want to consider something else for invoicing. The reason I say that is that you can send recurring invoices, but sometimes the matching can get complicated with incoming payments. It can definitely be done, but make sure that someone is helping you set up your account and the process to make sure that payments are properly matched to outstanding invoices. I bet it would be a nightmare if payments were improperly matched. You might also want to look into an add-on and see if there's something specifically for rental income like this. I've heard of Appfolio, but I have never used it.

What happens when the accountant does not pay QBO subscription for 8 months and its now in collections. How does the client transfer billing to themselves to obtain thier records? QBO support is stating that the billing has to be transferred through the accountant to client. Is this the correct process? What happens when the accountant is no longer unreachable? I have tried to transition from QBD to QBO a couple of times and it has not been easy. Outside of the cumbersome data, vendor, class, customer, employee transfers I have issues with customized invoices. In the description part of the invoice I cannot expand that column. My property caretaking business cannot simply say weekly gardening service or daily caretaking visit. I must be able to describe what I say specifically what I accomplished (ie 1. watered Green house. 2. watered guest house patio pots. 3. Power washed guest house patio. 4. Checked main house w/walkabout. 5. Otter abatement at Main house). This I must report accurately on a daily basis. If I do so the invoice will become 10 pages long with the limited column width. Is there any way to customize this that I do not know of?
I’ve seen some really detailed invoices in QBO. You do need to customize the invoice in order to see how it will look. You will want to have your product/service item and then you can customize the description. I’m not sure why an invoice would be 10 pages long though.
How do I change the check numbers and make it count that number towards the next check? When I print a check it always starts with the same number and I have to keep changing it to my check number. Can you tell me how to fix this issue? Thx

Hi Kim! I'd recommend making each donor a "Customer" in QBO, and then running each donation as a sales receipt. You'll be able to pull Customer reports as the end of each year for their reporting.
Great information, I have been difficulties getting balance every month on profit and loss statement, Showing income of about 40% more than Sales by customer summary? I cant figure where this extra income is coming in from. Recomendations on where to start? thank you
This happens when you don't have a customer assigned to every income transactions. So this can happen when you receive money that isn't assigned to an invoice or if you have sales that are coming in from product sales. I'd drill down into your income detail and see if there are any transactions that don't have a customer listed. This should help you solve the problem.
I do not know how to find purchase orders once I have created it. If I want to find a PO I sent to "xyz" vendor a month ago...how do I find it. Boy I love the old system where you just scroll thru things....

Hi Ron - I'd recommend finding a bookkeeper who can do a quick catch-up job for you! Can you reach out to some other business owners you know and see if you can find someone who can help out? If you are using QBO, it should be easy to find a proadvisor too. But finding someone through a connection might be the fastest way to get help.

Ideally, there is nothing in uncategorized income at the end of the month. If there is, you need to re-code the individual transactions into a different sales line-item. You can create a new revenue line item called "misc sales" or something like that if you have small amounts that don't fit in with your overall main revenue streams.

We are a current beauty salon and been using a bookkeeper since we aterted. We have now decided to bring it in-house and the quick books will be delivered to me next week. I have never used the program and will be taken on the books that they are currently using. I went into Quick Books and took the 30-day free trial and have discovered that the help line and videos that they give don't take you into the daily operations as I saw in your video. You can't search the receipts once they are in QB. If you want to have a database that stores your receipts and speaks to QBO, I'd recommend Dext or Hubdoc. I know Hubdoc is searchable after scanning, so that's really nice! I hope that answers your question!
Does QBO have a program for invoicing and estimating? I just made up a very basic one in Excel but it is very outdated and doesn't even have a way to look at customers and jobs and estimates with no way of linking this back to the A/P or A/R. Plus the Estimate could have been done last year so it would need to be updated with the current prices) And if we get the job converting the estimate into invoices (sometimes we do partial billing for the larger jobs) So total contract amounts would be helpful too. Then we need to know if the inspection report on the job has been completed to bill the final 10 percent we must hold back. Do you know if QBO can do this? I also made up the Excel A/P and A/R . Which again cannot sort by date customer is listed at the bottom of the workbook but if the customer is not looked up and another is added then it's just a mess over here HELP. Even if you could recommend some system that could do it all....????

Go to the gear icon in the upper right hand corner, and then go to "Payments". You will find your deposit account there and you can change it!
Is QBO a good fix for running an RV park with 100 plus tenants. Need to keep track of rents (income) and expenses (maintenance, etc). Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
QBO can handle the accounting, but you might want to consider something else for invoicing. The reason I say that is that you can send recurring invoices, but sometimes the matching can get complicated with incoming payments. It can definitely be done, but make sure that someone is helping you set up your account and the process to make sure that payments are properly matched to outstanding invoices. I bet it would be a nightmare if payments were improperly matched. You might also want to look into an add-on and see if there's something specifically for rental income like this. I've heard of Appfolio, but I have never used it.

What happens when the accountant does not pay QBO subscription for 8 months and its now in collections. How does the client transfer billing to themselves to obtain thier records? QBO support is stating that the billing has to be transferred through the accountant to client. Is this the correct process? What happens when the accountant is no longer unreachable? I've been trying to find out the fees Quickbooks has charged for every transation over the quarter and I'm stumped!
I have tried to transition from QBD to QBO a couple of times and it has not been easy. Outside of the cumbersome data, vendor, class, customer, employee transfers I have issues with customized invoices. In the description part of the invoice I cannot expand that column. My property caretaking business cannot simply say weekly gardening service or daily caretaking visit. I must be able to describe what I say specifically what I accomplished (ie 1. watered Green house. 2. watered guest house patio pots. 3. Power washed guest house patio. 4. Checked main house w/walkabout. 5. Otter abatement at Main house). This I must report accurately on a daily basis. If I do so the invoice will become 10 pages long with the limited column width. Is there any way to customize this that I do not know of?
I’ve seen some really detailed invoices in QBO. You do need to customize the invoice in order to see how it will look. You will want to have your product/service item and then you can customize the description. I’m not sure why an invoice would be 10 pages long though.
Also, if the transition is not easy, I’d recommend finding a bookkeeper to help with the migration. It will save you the frustration!

Hi Kim! I'd recommend making each donor a "Customer" in QBO, and then running each donation as a sales receipt. You'll be able to pull Customer reports as the end of each year for their reporting.
Great information, I have been difficulties getting balance every month on profit and loss statement, Showing income of about 40% more than Sales by customer summary? I cant figure where this extra income is coming in from. Recomendations on where to start? thank you
This happens when you don't have a customer assigned to every income transactions. So this can happen when you receive money that isn't assigned to an invoice or if you have sales that are coming in from product sales. I'd drill down into your income detail and see if there are any transactions that don't have a customer listed. This should help you solve the problem.
I do not know how to find purchase orders once I have created it. If I want to find a PO I sent to "xyz" vendor a month ago...how do I find it. Boy I love the old system where you just scroll thru things....

Hi Ron - I'd recommend finding a bookkeeper who can do a quick catch-up job for you! Can you reach out to some other business owners you know and see if you can find someone who can help out? If you are using QBO, it should be easy to find a proadvisor too. But finding someone through a connection might be the fastest way to get help.

how do you edit uncategorized income to sales
Ideally, there is nothing in uncategorized income at the end of the month. If there is, you need to re-code the individual transactions into a different sales line-item. You can create a new revenue line item called "misc sales" or something like that if you have small amounts that don't fit in with your overall main revenue streams.

We are a current beauty salon and been using a bookkeeper since we aterted. We have now decided to bring it in-house and the quick books will be delivered to me next week. I have never used the program and will be taken on the books that they are currently using. I went into Quick Books and took the 30-day free trial and have discovered that the help line and videos that they give don't take you into the daily operations as I saw in your video. You can't search the receipts once they are in QB. If you want to have a database that stores your receipts and speaks to QBO, I'd recommend Dext or Hubdoc. I know Hubdoc is searchable after scanning, so that's really nice! I hope that answers your question!
Does QBO have a program for invoicing and estimating?
I just made up a very basic one in Excel but it is very outdated and doesn't even have a way to look at customers and jobs and estimates with no way of linking this back to the A/P or A/R. Plus the Estimate could have been done last year so it would need to be updated with the current prices) And if we get the job converting the estimate into invoices (sometimes we do partial billing for the larger jobs) So total contract amounts would be helpful too. Then we need to know if the inspection report on the job has been completed to bill the final 10 percent we must hold back. Do you know if QBO can do this? I also made up the Excel A/P and A/R . Which again cannot sort by date customer is listed at the bottom of the workbook but if the customer is not looked up and another is added then it's just a mess over here HELP. Even if you could recommend some system that could do it all....????
