In this video Heimler shows you several examples of a thesis statement for DBQ and LEQ, and whether it gets the point or not, and WHY. This works for AP Euro, APUSH, and AP World.
Steve is the only reason I won’t start crying during the ap exam tbh, gotta make papa proud
😵 me now knowing his first name was steve
I’ve been using your review and these videos to prepare and they’re single-handedly carrying me to May 6. Thank you so much!
Mr. Heimler, I would love to see more of these videos, especially on the evidence and analysis/reasoning points! Thank you for all of your help this year in APUSH!

hey heimler thanks for all the informative videos. question, if your thesis doesn’t earn a point but responds to a different prompt (ex. thesis #1 from AP Euro) can you still get the points for other categories? in other words, can your essay be on an entirely different topic if you’re willing to lose the thesis point? i’m not planning to do this; just curious lol
Unfortunately, no. Your whole essay has to respond to the prompt to earn any points. On the other hand, if your thesis is irrelevant to the prompt but your essay DOES answer the prompt, then you can get the other points.
@@heimlershistory interesting, thanks for the response!
@@calebcox9855 This happened to me before, almost had the Thesis, but still got a 4/7 without the point. Just need to work on writing faster and interpreting the prompt.
Am I the only one who’s AP World History Teacher hasn’t taught a single topic you need to know for the exam???
I live in New York, so we have regents exams. One of those regents exams is the WH regents… we’ve been learning for the regents exam all year. However, the regents is literally nothing compared to the AP WH exam.
The exam is in a week and even if I binge watch videos, it’s going to be extremely hard because I have no context.
I’m so fucking fucked… I hope I’m not the only one going through this.. ugh…
I literally know absolutely nothing for the exam whilst I’m stressing out for my AP Env Sci and Seminar exam.
Maybe try some freemanpedia videos if you havent already. He does the around the ap world in 80 days and I've found them really helpful, and they cover the ced concepts
what did you end up getting?
@@fatimamukhtar1000 a 3 despite literally guessing on nearly all of the MCQ, and not doing the last essay (wrote one paragraph then gave up XD)
i guess there must’ve been a super nice curve when I took it
I am glad that I have gotten to the point where I think I'll be ok on the exam
🙌🏻
Guys can we talk about how the first example was almost exactly what the DBQ was this year?
imma make you proud may 6
Actually this is a bit outdated. If you dont say extent, you will not earn the thesis point
Hey Heimler, does a thesis not work best if it includes all the subclaims one is planning to argue in their DBQ/LEG? Some of those shown theses in this video I noticed didn't necessarily establish multiple subclaims or sub-arguments
Please tag me when you find out! This is something I've been wondering about, too.
I want to see reply
Same here
Personally I have always used subclaims to help organize the rest of the DBQ/LEQ. Also if you look at the examples he gave, the ones with subclaims or sub-arguments he said that they were the best ones. So you can I think however it's not required. So I'm not sure if this totally answers your question and I am also in APUSH, so I'm no expert on all of this.
@@ashleyjackson8374 would you base the paragraphs on the subclaims you made in the thesis
honestly, i was so glad to see that the demonstration prompt for apush was something that i had just reviewed earlier today. this video was so helpful. we have literally only done one leq in my class, and we are practicing our only dbq of the year on monday. you are honestly the only reason i might be able to pass this test. thank you so much!
In my class we wrote 4 dbq 0 leq and 0 saq
Heimler is there a place I can buy that pencil? I had the review packet but didn't win and I really wanted it...😔
Dude cry about it
@EdRecovery better to be grateful.
Hey Heimler,
Real quick question:
Is there a way to try and word evidence when you don't know the name of the event?
Clarification: I was doing a practice SAQ, "Briefly explain ONE specific ruling of the Warren Court that expanded the 1st Amendment".
I was think of the court case where the Supreme court ruled that radical & revolutionary speech was protected by the 1st Amendment (Yates v. U.S) but I didn't remember the name at the time. Is there a way to try and word it so I still get the point without saying the exact court name?
Usually that will work as long as you get the description correct. That is, unless it specifically ASKS for the name of a case. But if you get the description right, usually you'll be okay if you can't remember the exact word for it.
AP Exams comin up... Heimler thanks for helping me prep!
Hello… i literally wrote the LEQ on the wrong time period and I am currently freaking out. What will happen with my LEQ score? Are there any chances of me passing with this happening? Please help i am currently freaking out
You will miss some points on the LEQ, but there is a chance you could still receive some points if you did answer the prompt. If you did well though on the multiple choice and DBQ you could still score a 4 or a 5 though. No need to stress
thesis 2 on the apush section would NOT get the point 😭😭
Lol I did this exact prompt today in class for my AP World LEQ
I have a mock tommorow and my teacher grades strict so this is gonna help a lot ty
I would argue that thesis #2 for APWH doesn't earn the point as it doesn't specify to what extent the economies of South Asia were changed even though the prompt asks that. Doesn't seem like it really addresses the prompt.
i agree it's kinda just restating that it did change and doesn't say by how much
@@kamiflare Yeah haha I've been told by my teacher many times to make sure I state the extent in the thesis
@@saltyseaduck5865 apparently you just need to say how it changed in your thesis
i’m confused.. in the second APUSH thesis example, the student says ‘the 15th century’, but aren’t we talking about the 16th century for the most part?
LOL i did the first prompt in class the other day
I have a practice frq exam today. And I just wanna thank you for all your videos!! I feel confident in getting a 4/5 on the exam!!
Life saver
Our leader has spoken 🙏🏼
i remember watching your ap world content videos in 8TH GRADE...how time flies omg and now i AM in ap world. tysm for your help i feel so confident for the exam!
Wish us luck heimler!!!
There's technically no reason to elaborate further on the thesis, right? From how I see it, doing the bare minimum saves time and effort. Does anyone have other ideas?
Only issue is doing the minimum puts you at risk for MISSING the point, like if you dip just under the minimum, and you also can’t easily work in complexity
But if the minimum works for you and helps you score more points overall, then for sure there isn’t much of a reason
heimler daaddy bless us with the holy power od AP
love your videos they're super helpful and engaging however i have a question: how would you go about memorizing all of this information for ap world. ik you did a video about how to make it really stick in your brain by learning by writing but what if you're still nervous about forgetting something. what should you do?
omg im in ap world right now and i’m having the same problem like i feel like i’m gonna forget something important since i have to remember so many different things
Gotta cram all Heimler videos in before the Ap exam🫡
I just did a practice mcq is a 40/55 good for ap euro?
That’s really good. If you also scored well on the writing that would be in the range of a 5
where can i find practice mcq?
@@karlapena3651 I used the Princeton book, but there is online practice tets
@@karlapena3651 I think I saw one on the ced
