    Looks promising. Caldwell really nailed the balance between features and the affordabilities.

    Im impressed too, not sure if caldwell is listening, but would be cool if the led strip could be a separate item that plugs in, and you could use those led strips on a roll that you can custom cut and replace.

    Fiber optic inserts would make this better. That way a hit on the unit would easily be fixed by swapping out a cartridge and make it last longer.

      Either that or a separate LED unit that you could remote from the target with cheap speaker wire.
      Also magnets to attach it to steel seems obvious.

    Having shot a lot of steel, have to disagree about probability of getting hit. With any significant/consistent use they absolutely will get hit

    Ordered 10 will get more as soon as supplier has them !

    Shot with these at a regional match recently. Can't argue that they don't work, but they flash way too long. You could time out on a stage while waiting for the flashing to stop to fire the next round.

      Yes, I totally agree and forgot to mention that. It would be great if there was a switch that had an option for short flash or long flash, depending on your needs.

    I bought 2. I'll be testing at 900 yards in a couple weeks.
    Thanks for the video.

      They work at 1050 with a 6.5 creedmoor

    I would think that if you mounted the flasher on top edge or bottom edge the probability of hitting it would be lower than left or right edge because elevation is more determinate than windage…. Just a thought.

    Aditional 5 cents cost tiny cable will give you options to mount this LED's separately on target base /legs or somewhere else. I would fire the engineer designer today.

    They appear pretty sensitive, would spall from an adjacent target trigger them? They seem like a great product for the price point.

    Need either a wire or wireless connection to somehow put the light say 3 feet away from the actual target and device

    Pretty impressed, would be better if they designed it to be able to easily replace the LEDs when hit.

    Might have to get one and open it up to see if we can hack the timer setting

      That'd be cool. To be fair that really my only complaint on it.

    Hi John! you need to do the flyswatter challenge

    • @FClassJohn

      It’s coming. I’ve had some stuff going on that kept me away from the range more than I’d like right now, but should get back to it in the next few days.

    I noticed that on numerous occasions, you appeared ready with a follow-up shot, but it was still flashing. Is there a way on it to control the length of time it flashes? If not, there should be in my opinion, or it should just be timed for a shorted duration.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  10 месяцев назад +1

      There were a couple shots where I did go ahead and shoot before I head reset and those cases it just makes the flashing go longer, but there is no adjustment on it.

      @@FClassJohn It really is pretty cool though. However, since I only shoot short range BR, it would not be something I would need in my bag. It might be fun just to buy one to fool around with though😀

    I wonder if they will stay on when you shoot the plate with something bigger.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  10 месяцев назад +1

      I'm pretty sure you go big on these, that's why they use hook & loop attachments for it and not magnets. I've seen them shot with 300PRC at the @rockchuckolympics and no issues staying on.

    First off I'm not sure if Caldwell just took the idea and used their massive infrastructure to make it cheap.....but I think the original design is still Worth buying.....
    But these being so cheap I see myself getting least one to try.

      Fudds ruin ranges and matches. If you are that afraid of an inanimate object then pick up hackeysack or a different hobby.

      Yeah it's TCGC and muzzle angle is a huge deal there because of the 20k residents within bullet range.
