Civilian Legal Flashbangs: IWA flashbangs vs TAGinn comparison

- Опубликовано: 6 фев 2022
- So I finally got my hands on some of these civilian legal flashbangs by IWA international and TAGinn. I wanted to try them out and compare how these two flash bangs going off sound and whether they are worth it.
The IWA flashbangs are civilian legal and go up to 124 db. I think that's pretty good for a civilian flashbang. That's until I tried the TAGinn, which are marketed as flashbangs in airsoft. I was surprised how this thing can be used as an airsoft granade.
That one goes up to 140 db. You can see my reaction to these flashbangs going off in the video and make the decision for yourself.

Hey! You have a great channel name, it sounds like you have connections in the tactical world and the biggest thing is that you have the energy and charisma to be VERY successful on RUclips!!!
My advice to you:
-keep more to yourself. We don't know, or really care where you are, or why you have a gun. Everyone on this channel will be in support of you carrying, anyways.
-when doing a presentation on products, keep it short and sweet. Don't lose that energy, though. Maybe throw in a relevant joke if you can. :)
-get good at editing, and post 2-3 times a week. You will be a RUclips star soon.
If you do these things, and learn as you go along you will become very popular. Remember me when you do, lol.

Better question-why are real flash bangs illegal? (Or any ordnance for that matter). Seriously though, the ATF and NFA need to go away, along with a bunch of other unConstitutional BS.
Noooooo way almost like the Jews want to disarm you
So they can stack up on your door with impunity.

You're an American citizen. You don't need to explain why you're carrying a pistol. Personally, I believe people need to explain why they DON'T carry a pistol.
Being a "US" citizen is exactly why we dont have a 2A. Own your strawman and own your God given rights. It's all in the legalese language.
Agree
lmao you already said why. as an American citizen no one has to explain anything to you
It should be law if u don't carry some form of firearm u get a citation
Hell yeah!!! 2A says what it does for a reason. Carry if you want. Carry if you can. Carry with a permit so you don't get in trouble and go to jail and lose your guns and rights. Stay safe y'all.
Bought a case of the TAGinn at a gun show about a year ago. Got home, and we had the brilliant idea to use one in the garage to see how loud it was...not our smartest moment haha

Just some helpful info. I was in SWAT for several years and can tell you this:
1. First prep the grenade ring and cotter pin. Before you anticipate deployment, pinch the wings on the retaining pins from its 90 deg angle to a flatter position so u can pull the ring smoothly.
2. Make sure the safety spoon rests firmly against the web between your thumb and index finger. DO NOT grasp it with your four free fingers; u can have an accidental discharge.
3. DO NOT throw the ring away. Keep it in your free hand in case you abort deployment and need to re-engage the safety spoon.
Thank you for your advice and service! Just tried pinning this comment so it stayed up top for everyone to see easily but couldn't.

@@CivilianWarrior if you pull a pin on a Flashbang and don’t need it during clearance the best thing you can do is chuck it somewhere that’s been cleared or anywhere it won’t be a problem for that matter, behind you, etc…. I can’t imagine having time to re insert a pin during clearance, taking a rifle out of the fight, especially under NODS/with gloves on
They’re both legally classified as pyrotechnics, like fireworks. The M12 is a “distraction device” and the TAG-19 & 67 are airsoft frag grenades, they have airsoft bbs molded in the foam, so when you shake them they don’t make a noise. If you want a true TAGGIN stun grenade, get the FBG-4/6
Thank you for commenting. I use TAGGIN products all the time. Now I'm not saying this video is a bad thing. But it's already hard enough to get them on certain fields and keep them in play
Can somebody tell me where to get some super loud ones? I looked on evike but couldn't find any kind of grenades.
@@collinb.8542 Evike doesn’t have any TagInn pyro at the moment because they still have issues with their supply lines. The company was moving from Russia to the UK before the war because of newer russian law about explosives
I'm guessing they won't ship to states that restrict pyrotechnics then.
Now on their site it says you need a pyro license to buy them?
Your reaction to the airsoft grenade exploding was priceless.
Honestly I was just as shocked as you were watching this on my phone.
Great video.
Just uploaded a video of them going off at night to see the "flash"
about as loud as a chainsaw ..... not too disorienting but yeah really, really loud
And for those who don't know: An increase in decibels is a logarithmic increase and not just a flat number. 124dB comes out to about 32PSI for sound pressure. 140dB on the other hand is 200 PSI. You're looking at an almost 7x more powerful bang out of the TAGinn. Most gunshots are between 140dB and 165dB. 85dB is what's considered hearing safe.
You let one of those TAGinn's off indoors and whoever's unlucky enough to be in the same room as it is probably going to be throwing up.
Also, I mean the thing looks like an RGD-5 frag grenade. If you wave that around to someone who wants to start trouble you're gonna make a lot of people cut and run instantly lmao
They won't make you throw up, but they will make you ears ring if youre not wearing proper earpro. Source: I have been fragged with them many times.

As a longtime user of taginn products, their underbarrel launched grenades are a ton of fun too- they have chalk, timed, impact fused, and smoke rounds.
Check out the new video I just uploaded on these going off at night
Update: obviously because of current events, taggins can’t be imported in due to the Russian ammo ban and because of the sanctions on Russia, heard that taggin is trying to work something with the US and EU governments but also heard that they may move a factory to the US who knows. I play airsoft and have used their products before and honestly they’re amazing but with all going on it’s hard and expensive af to find taggin items.
I hope they do and that all this is over soon.

Pro tip, always hold the spoon with your thumb. You want the most contact of the hand with the body of the device. If your left handed hold it upside down. Insert finger up or down through the loop, make a fist. Rotate and break connection by pulling across your chest to separate the pin from the device. Aquire target. Strike a pose. Throw. Get behind cover.
Proper grip, thumb the clip, twist pull pin, sneak a peek, frag out!
Pro-tip: Acquire.
Literally none of that applies in a real world situation especially not a damn banger
@@ViktoriousDead well I guess you'll have to take that up with Drill SGT Brown with Alpha 3-34, Fort Jackson South Carolina.
You let that spoon slip and you might be holding the "banger" when it goes off, which is not something that I would imagine is conductive to still having fingers when you go home afterwards.
@@rickhowe5082 in the Finnish army we hold the spoon into the palm of our hand and not just the thumb. Feels very secure there. But yeah never hold the spon with your fingers.
Interesting to see how different militaries do it differently
4:28 IWA M12
8:12 TAGinn N17
Acoustic sound levels, measured in Decibels ("db"), are a logarithmic scale. Each time a sound’s decibel level increases by 3db, its acoustic energy intensity doubles. The decibel scale is not linear. Therefore, a sound level increase of 10 dB sound is 10 times more energy, a 20 dB sound level increase is 100 times more energy, and a 30 dB sound level increase is 1,000 times more energy.
If the grenade labels are true as to the IWA = 124db and the TAG grenade = 140db, the resulting difference is 16db. The TAG grenade is, therefore, 40X louder than the IWA based upon acoustic power calculations. I wrote a Microsoft Excel calculator using the logarithmic formula for it:
Decibel Change Calculator
Enter Sound Level 1 140.0 db Enter the Higher db Value (TAGinn)
Enter Sound Level 2 124.0 db Enter the Lower db Value (IWA)
Gain/loss 16.0 db Difference in db
Sound Level 1 has: 39.81 X Approximately 40X more sound energy than sound level 2
It was no wonder you flinched at the TAG grenade. You upped the acoustic energy level by 40 times over the IWA the moment you tossed it. By the way, even short term exposure can cause permanent damage. 140db is the loudest recommended exposure WITH hearing protection!
Excellent explanation thank you! I struggled to explain that even though I had read it. Wasn't as simplified as you were able to explain it. Thanks again!
@@CivilianWarrior Due to your courtesy, you just gained another subscriber!
I have the FBG6 and it is rated at 140db. I love how you addressed the cost. It took me a long time to afford them so I haven’t used them but seeing your reaction makes me feel so good that they are, for now, pretty superior! I understand real bangs go up to 175db
I got some of those too! Love how lightweight they are. Yeah that's what I have seen regarding real flashbang. Saw there was a multibanger and the specs on that said it was 145db so these are pretty close to at least one of the real flashbangs in regards to how loud they are.
I checked the site for this model, said it was for LE only. I'll C&P the description below:
"Meet the “FBG-6 mini” is the first product by TAGinn designed for professional purposes only. This grenade is NOT for the consumer market and will be used only for the professional LE and military activity, such as training or the “soft stun” effect. The sound report is 10 dB higher than at the rest of our other grenades.
Package bundle: 10 x “FBG-6 mini” hand grenades in a cardboard box."
@@ricksters11 you are correct the "mini" are for LEOs. There is another model that are just FBG. They are black, not orange like the mini and are for civilians. The site you went to might not have the normal, civilian ones
I have the FBG-6 MINI which are even louder. 😅
I don't understand why he used a frag grenade reproduction for comparison to a flashbang. 🤔
If real deal Flash bangs are 170+ and you wanna know what they're like, try firing an AR pistol, something like a 10.5 barrel. Put a muzzle break on it and shoot it under cover at the range. It will probably permanently damage your ears if they're un-covered. Or, you could do the same thing in an indoor cinderblock room. I had a gun recoil and knock my ear protection loose and I absolutely damaged my hearing I. My right ear permanently from 1 shot at 170+ in that room. ;)
You don't need to explain why you carry a gun.
Agreed
Couldn’t agree more. You don’t need to explain why you’re exercising any other constitutional rights, like remaining silent when being questioned by police, there’s no need to explain why you’re exercising your 2nd amendment rights either :)

Tip for people, if you have a nade bouncing around in your bag you can wrap the spoon with electrical tape for extra security. When you pull the pin orient the spoon into the web between your thumb and index finger. Flashbangs are surprisingly light and hard to throw.
You can always just use a 12 gauge bore thunder rounds as distraction devices. They offer several advantages over even restricted distraction devices, and they're not regulated at all because they're considered ammunition and not an explosive. They're directional, so you can focus the direction of the blast towards the badguy, they work great for breaching windows, and you can load a whole lot more than you can traditional "flash bangs", especially the shorter casing ones. Plus, they're way cheaper. I've used them many times in real world situations even though we had flash bangs in our arsenal (that had to be collected, logged, and accounted for in every instance in case of an BATF audit. Yes, law enforcement agencies still get audited by the ATF albeit rarely). With the bore thunders, we could just use them and eject the empty casing. No fuss. No bureaucratic red tape. Overall, they're better in my opinion.
Now, ALS used to make a true stun grenade (which flash bangs are not) that was freaking devastating. Those were sort of a last resort option because the overpressure was such that they would really mess anyone up who was within the vicinity of the blast, but I've only heard of them being used one time in a real life situation on a barricaded subject with an AK, and only after the SWAT teams breach was delayed and the element of surprise was lost. The blast left him deaf and delirious and even knocked the ceiling tile and air condition return vent out from the room he was in. I've had flash bangs go off at my feet with no earplugs in (forgot to put them in) and was perfectly fine, and I've been down the hallway from a room when one of those stun grenades were used, and we had to open our mouths while keeping our jaws clenched to allow air to escape and prevent the overpressure from collapsing our lungs. Those things are awesome!
Thank you for advice in definitely going to look into that as soon as I'm home. 🤙
I'm wondering how close those stun grenades come to a pure concussion grenade. Although maybe my curiosity is stemming from not fully understanding terminology and not any physical differences between the two devices.
@@JustIn-op6oy that's exactly what they are, concussion grenades. They're so much more powerful than a regular flash bang. Flash bangs are merely distraction devices meant to distract someone with a loud noise and flash just for a split second to allow for a team to enter and get off the first shot, but the concussion grenades literally discombobulate and completely disorient the occupant or occupants indefinitely. The amount of overpressure is awesome.
@@JustIn-op6oy a flashbang is disorienting for a split second, even one that goes off nine times isn't really that much better. A concussion grenade is so powerful that it causes you to be completely deafened and possibly blinded or make your lungs collapse if it's close enough in a small enough area.
It's like getting knocked out cold with a lead pipe.
@@Terminal-Vet ahh, I guess I screwed up with categorization. I thought concussion grenades were intended to do physical damage/death via the over pressure wave as opposed to fragmentation.

Forgot that the Tag67 and that grenade Actually fragment the shell which is foam and safe, but also have plastic BBs inside. And airsofters especially those who do Milsim will throw 2-3 boxes of those per event. They also make just a banger version with no bbs inside, as well as 40mm(slightly smaller as they don’t into a 40mm shell) exploding airsoft projectiles
Just a few corrections, the IWA m12 single bang are $33 and you can buy up to 27 per hazmat fee of $40, if you buy 12 or more they are $31. The m11 4bangers are $44, same purchase of 27 per $40 hazmat and 12 or more are $42.
In my business and recreation I use both IWA and Taginn products and even though Taginn are cheaper per unit they tend to have a higher failure rate in my experience. Not sure why unless they are more mass produced akin to common fireworks. In Taginn's defense they have a great ml36, 36mm grenade launcher system operated by HPA and I rarely have a failure with those rounds. Unfortunately Taginn is not being imported to the USA thanks to Biden's Russia sanctions, no end to that in sight. Both IWA and Taginn's items are made and exported from the UK and Russia respectively, even without the sanctions it is very expensive and time consuming to import this stuff and the hazmat fees don't help. It's a real shame that there isn't an American company stepping up to fill the void.
When he did the first banger I thought to myself.. my airsoft banger is louder than that & mine only cost around $20 each.. no way would I be spending over $40 on that little thing lol. TagIn all the way!
New sub here. Can't wait for more content
Thank you!
Those audible grunts you made when you had to pick up the first flash bang.... Liao I feel u buddy. Me too
What!? I gotta rewatch my own video now 🤣
Just an FYI these were banned as part of the Russian ammo ban and are no longer available until they move production to Poland or otherwise solve the issue. I found your video looking for reviews on the IWA units for my kit and not for airsoft.
I can't seem to find a definitive answer on that. I bought mine after Sept 7th which is when the ban took place. I also reached out to the company I purchased these from, they told me they has no issues bringing them in after the ban took affect. I contacted Taginn b4 the start of the war with Ukraine asking if they were affected. In their broken English they said they were going to try shipping more to the US this month(March). But now with the war, i wouldn't be surprised the initial 12 month ammo ban gets extended until Russia pulls out.
@@CivilianWarrior they have been working for months on it, and this was confirmed to me by distributors. I work in the airsoft world, but I'm also in the real steel world too, so I've used the taginn stuff for years. What you were getting was stock left over I'm sure as I just got a few boxes of FBG6 which don't spray pellets in November. All that said they may have worked something out because they technically shouldn't have been banned from import.
@@EDDSkitz oh ok, then I'll defer to your knowledge as you work in the industry and know more than me. Even those fbg-6 are louder than iwa. I think you'll be disappointed with their performance. I will say, I do like the size of iwa but very overpriced.
Does anyone want to sell me a couple they have? I just want to add it to my home defense kit.
@@danylopez7612 Lololol, go to amped airsoft, they do pyro shipped easy and you can have a reminder sent when back in stock.
Taginn makes flashbangs too. Way louder than the tag19s
The taginn catalog says these are the loudest ones they make. The FBG are 130db and these tag 19 are 140db. Except for the FBG mini which are made for the police
The second one had me cracking up with your reaction. LMAO.
Me too 😂
SWAT 25 years. When you threw the Taginn you saw how pieces flew back towards you at a high rate of speed. I thought you were hit in the leg but if so you played it off pretty well. Any way I have personally seen early discharges of flash bangs blowing up in operators hands either from mishandling or defective device. You should ALWAYS wear durable gloves to protect your hands in case of a mishap. You had eye protection covered, depending on the type of sunglasses you had on, I'll assume you were wearing safety glasses. Repinning should never happen. Find a safe spot, make an announcement and toss the device. Good video brother
I would like to find a civilian legal stingball grenade one day
One day
Being flashbangs ain't exactly the hardest thing in the world to make
Airsoft fields only allow specific brands
Oooh my dude running Goruck swag. Awesome company and even better challenges.
Thanks bro!
Airsoft definitely is not soft. There have been loads of players that have had to dig pellets out from close hist on exposed skin.
Pretty soft compared to getting shot by real guns.
The 2nd one would be worth the money the 1st 1 sucked
Expensive but realistically how many would you need? Im assuming they also have a decent shelf life?
The $40 is hazmat fee, it's a federally required fee, and it's per case, you can get up to 50 of the eg67 airsoft frag grenades for 1 hazmat fee, I think the taginns are around the same per case if you order in bulk
Correct
