Just switched to a 305 w/ hydra from a roval traverse and am completely spoiled with the engagement. I also love the fact that I do not need a bell when descending as I now sound like a swarm of bees! 8)
Man, I just can't wrap my head around the whole "flex will automatically engage 2-4 more pawls depending on how much torque is applied" thing. I'm sure they've done their homework, but my admittedly simple mind sure likes the "entire face of a DT ratchet always engaging, no matter what" scenario much better..... Great video as always guys! Your channel is so freakin' good.
We hear ya - the whole concept of any hardened material bending is tough to get a true grasp on. The best way to truly see it is under a microscope, but that's a tough angle to get a video of. However, we tested the product for 2+ years and got plenty of field samples out before our launch to ensure we could 100% stand behind the product. Hope you get a chance to check it out!
I have a 2016 Focus Raven max SL with DT XRC 1200 and upgraded to the 54 tooth hub, sounds so cool and I really cant imagine anyone needing more engagement. I think i9 should offer the old Torch hub with the updated end caps, and pawl system. Seems like leafs could give the same pressure as the springs without being so apt to wanting fly away. Some of us want our wheels loud. Other ideas would be to put stiffer leafs in the Hydra hubs to make it louder. Either is an option many of us would pay extra for. 1. Stiff leaf pack for the Hydra, $29.95 cant see 6 pieces of metal costing much more. 2. Torch 2.0 updated torch hubs. With the same loudness you always loved. Same price as Hyda
You can always make Hydra louder by adding oil. It's admittedly a slightly different sound due to the increased teeth on the drivering, but definitely can get pretty loud if that's what you're looking for!
