    One of the primary benefits of egg tempera is its rapid drying time. Adding linseed oil negates this.

      Actually egg-oil emulsion is a commonly used medium in the past. Note that water and oil are added. Since water evaporated quickly, you have an emulsion that dries faster than oil paint but slower than egg alone, so you can achieve oil painting effect but with faster drying.
      And you don't have to use that amount linseed oil either.

    The way it takes to master separating the yolk from the membrane looks hard. It needs great patience and perseverance. Great job!

    Love it. Can I use another oil? How would this affect the final result? Is there something unique about linseed oil? Sorry for so many questions but I really want to try it but dont have linseed oil.

      Linseed is the only oil that dries fully on air. You should take linseed oil, or, if not available, not add any oil at all. Would work just as well, but you would not be able to store it for even a day as it would dry out.

      Yes, equal parts water and egg yolk should be fine, but will dry quickly.

    Hi, I need your help! Why would you guess that my paint is washing off easily? I mixed my paints like you have and soo many others here on You Tube but if I go over it with a wet brush I can delude and wash away the paint.

    • @gracetheartist
      @gracetheartist 5 лет назад

      Easy solution... if its lifting your painting to wet. The linseed oil will not cure for years, I suggest leaving that out.

      The problem with this video that I see is that she appears not to have ground the pigment.
      Most pigments I believe have to be ground into a paste first+ initially with water and then with the oil emulsion &/or yolk. I have only done one egg oil emulsion so I'm not an expert but had no problems with paint adhesion. The grinding requires a small glass Muller on a glass or stone slab or at least a spatula to wet and disperse any coagulations or pigment clusters. If I am correct she has only applied a loose paste mixed with a brush and not strictly speaking a paint.

    Can i use any kind of oil???

    • @jefferywarburton2116
      @jefferywarburton2116 6 лет назад +2

      Haya Chaudhary for paint you have to use an oil that dries things like mineral oil or veg.oil doesnt air dry it takes alot of heat to dry them so they dont work for paint unless you are painting things like pottery that will go into a kiln i hope that helps

    • @markcornelius8802

      Vinegar retards bacterial growth so the solution keeps longer before spoiling.
