excellent presentation. I have keratoconus and unfortunately the treatments are very expensive and not covered under insurances. so now I am progressively going blind.hopefully my children will not inherit this.

5 years ago I had perfect eyesight. In less than a month, this problem appeared and remained at that level until today. I started working on the lathe and had an LED light less than 30cm from my right eye. At that distance, you can clearly see the flickering of the light. Now I have a disorder right in that corner where the light bulb was. If I turn my eye to the opposite side, my vision improves significantly.

Very well explained. I have dual full thickness cornea transplants due to kerecotonous, over 20 years ago. Three years ago I was diagnosed with multi facet Sarcoidosis,, including lacrimal gland, heart, lymph nodes, saliva gland, biceps,lower legs etc symptons started 5 years ago. Approx 5 years ago my right cornea rejected, have had 6 DMEKS on that eye in last 5 years. Left transplant rejected 7months ago, both eyes had rejections at the same time. Last DMEK on right eye 9 months ago. Injectng 25mg of Methtrexate weekly and 60mg Humira fortnightly for just over two years. Sarcoidosis is very rare in Australia. Seeing two different opthomologist with differing opinions to my biggest question. IS IT POSSIBLE THE REJECTIONS ARE CAUSED BY THE SARCOIDOSIS. Would appreciate you thoughts.

Same situation for me 5% on the right and 60%on the left I was recommended for a corneal transplant on my right eye and I just did it this 2nd October 2023 now in the healing process

Keratoconus usually self arrests after 45 years of age. But for some indications it can be recommended if it continues to progress in rare cases. Difficult to say without reports and examination

Also be aware about night time eye rubbing and sleeping position. If you sleep on your sides and rub your eyes against the pillow that could also cause problems. Also after taking a shower and rubbing your face dry watch out for any pressure on your eyes!
@@francaperotti8343 that is good to increase hygene. The problem with pillowhugging however is the pressure it creates on the eyes. At least that is what my doc told me.
My caruncle is currently a reddish brown colour and my eyes have been constantly watering since June 2021. They're also extremely itchy, too sometimes to the point i have no choice but to scratch. I've been diagnosed with keratoconus recently after visting the hospital. The doctors I've spoken to keep ignoring and brushing off my main concern which is this iching and constantly watering that makes me scratch repeatedly throughout the day. My possibly blocked and damaged tear ducts and extremely itchy redding brown coloured caruncle are the issue here. I'm so frustrated and angry with the British health system they've not helped me or eveh observed my issue. I have to wipe My eye every minute otherwise, tears stream down my face. The lower part of my eyes are covered in a rash and are also itchy, wrinkly and dark no2. I don't know what to do. What condition is this? I know ribbing my eyes caused thw issue with my sight but, the source of the issue is the tear duct and caruncle, please help me. I've been given Alomide eye drops and before this I've been using Systane, Hyco San dual and Opticrom. Nothing is working my eyes itch, my sight is blurred with ghost images likely due to the scratching. I'm worried I'm going to be like this forever am I going to go blind? Please if you can advise me.
All your symptoms are normal for keratoconus. Wearing poloroid sunglasses all yr round helps with the glare inside and outside. It's mostly glare is what causes the symptoms your having. Idk how old you are but generally mid 20s age is when you won't have such bad symptoms any longer
@@Huh.bruh.I'm 27 my sight seems to have gone worse lately. I'm seeing double images I'm afraid I going to go blind. I hear there is no cure i don't know what to do. I have an appointment but, its too far. This is horrible all because I scratched my unbearably itchy eyes. This is making me so depressed my vision was so good I took my eyes for granted.
@Admire Kashiri that's all normal with keriticonus, vision deteriorates till age 40. Im 72 had diagnosed since 13yrs old. Keriticonus is dreadful at times it's a handicap from certain jobs you can have, like anything with dust, cooking with oil etc. Only alternative is to have a cornea transplant. I never had one. It slowly gets better as you get older. Your in the prime age of it being difficult to deal with. Hope you get better soon 💗

@@njabumtsetfwa9820 sorry to hear about your Son's eyesight. What he is experiencing now with his eyes, the itchiness Extreme Sun glare not being able to do certain things, like being outside, playing sports etc places that have dust, he will learn what works for him. Make sure his future career path is something that won't become a problem with his eyes. Outside work is difficult due to severe Sun glare. When he does get lenses and he probably won't need them till his mid 20s. Now days eye glasses for keratoconus have become excellent, so good that some people can legally drive with only eye glasses. The thing that helped me get through life having keratoconus is wearing 'Poloroid' Sun glasses prevents constant squinting they aren't cheap but they help from the constant tearing from eyes and itchiness. He will be fine.

Yes quite possible because sarcoidosis is an immune related disease. Immunity plays an important role in graft rejection

Is CXL recommended at any age? I am 69 and my doctor is recommending that I do it.
Keratoconus usually self arrests after 45 years of age. But for some indications it can be recommended if it continues to progress in rare cases. Difficult to say without reports and examination

Also be aware about night time eye rubbing and sleeping position. If you sleep on your sides and rub your eyes against the pillow that could also cause problems. Also after taking a shower and rubbing your face dry watch out for any pressure on your eyes!

@@francaperotti8343 that is good to increase hygene. The problem with pillowhugging however is the pressure it creates on the eyes. At least that is what my doc told me.

My caruncle is currently a reddish brown colour and my eyes have been constantly watering since June 2021. They're also extremely itchy, too sometimes to the point i have no choice but to scratch. I've been diagnosed with keratoconus recently after visting the hospital. The doctors I've spoken to keep ignoring and brushing off my main concern which is this iching and constantly watering that makes me scratch repeatedly throughout the day. My possibly blocked and damaged tear ducts and extremely itchy redding brown coloured caruncle are the issue here. I'm so frustrated and angry with the British health system they've not helped me or eveh observed my issue. I have to wipe My eye every minute otherwise, tears stream down my face. The lower part of my eyes are covered in a rash and are also itchy, wrinkly and dark no2. I don't know what to do. What condition is this? I know ribbing my eyes caused thw issue with my sight but, the source of the issue is the tear duct and caruncle, please help me. I've been given Alomide eye drops and before this I've been using Systane, Hyco San dual and Opticrom. Nothing is working my eyes itch, my sight is blurred with ghost images likely due to the scratching. I'm worried I'm going to be like this forever am I going to go blind? Please if you can advise me.
All your symptoms are normal for keratoconus. Wearing poloroid sunglasses all yr round helps with the glare inside and outside. It's mostly glare is what causes the symptoms your having. Idk how old you are but generally mid 20s age is when you won't have such bad symptoms any longer
@@Huh.bruh.I'm 27 my sight seems to have gone worse lately. I'm seeing double images I'm afraid I going to go blind. I hear there is no cure i don't know what to do. I have an appointment but, its too far. This is horrible all because I scratched my unbearably itchy eyes. This is making me so depressed my vision was so good I took my eyes for granted.
@Admire Kashiri that's all normal with keriticonus, vision deteriorates till age 40. Im 72 had diagnosed since 13yrs old. Keriticonus is dreadful at times it's a handicap from certain jobs you can have, like anything with dust, cooking with oil etc. Only alternative is to have a cornea transplant. I never had one. It slowly gets better as you get older. Your in the prime age of it being difficult to deal with. Hope you get better soon 💗

@@njabumtsetfwa9820 sorry to hear about your Son's eyesight. What he is experiencing now with his eyes, the itchiness Extreme Sun glare not being able to do certain things, like being outside, playing sports etc places that have dust, he will learn what works for him. Make sure his future career path is something that won't become a problem with his eyes. Outside work is difficult due to severe Sun glare. When he does get lenses and he probably won't need them till his mid 20s. Now days eye glasses for keratoconus have become excellent, so good that some people can legally drive with only eye glasses. The thing that helped me get through life having keratoconus is wearing 'Poloroid' Sun glasses prevents constant squinting they aren't cheap but they help from the constant tearing from eyes and itchiness. He will be fine.
Doctor, would like to know if Karetoconus progresses beyond 40? People say, for those above 4, C3R is not required. Is it true?

Doctor I've keretoconus. Last year my cct was 488 and 493 but this year it's 477 and 471..But my eye power still same. Why is this happening?
These fluctuations can occur normally as well. We need a corneal topography and tomography to be able to gauge if the cornea is getting weaker or not. Kindly visit us for a thorough check up
