You can find a Z bend tool at RC hobby supply places. I use it all the time when I build a new RC plane when connecting a wire from the servo to any of my control surfaces on my plane.
I love tools like this So simple, yet so ingenious And looks like either one of those will last a lifetime or more Hmm 🤔 I wonder how difficult it would be to make these out of an old broken pair of pliers...
I made one of the stick style. Also have a pair that look like hoof nippers but bend a nice square Z on the end. Mine were used mostly for RC control wires.
Don, those are a couple of great tools, They would come in very handy, wish I could find something like that. I bent one with a pair of needle nose one time, harder but got it done.
Using needle nose pliers works fine, just don't use cheap pliers. The pliers will keep slipping the harder you try to move the wire. For the mini wire tool, you can get that from any major vendor ( example: Rotary #1720 ).
I have the same z-pliers, made by Custom Model Products, but the company seems to be out of business. Hangar 9 and Great Planes have a different design plier that makes z bends in up to 1/16 inch diameter wire, available on Amazon and your local RC Hobby Shop. Z bends are often used on controls of rc model airplanes.
not hard to do with pliers, but it is almost impossible get them the same... so i will make a tool or might buy...but the second one seems very easy type to make imo...thanks for sharing
Hey Danny my buddy give me a 1995 Lawn-Boy golden series it will start but will not turn it on and run it won't it'll quit I don't know if it's a carburetor or what you have parts for this 1995 model number is 10515 thanks buddy
jim s - The solid wire is used to replace a worn or broken wire INSIDE of the original wound outer jacket. Solid wire without a jacket would not work at all.
highpwr , I mean as a replacement for the cable inside the jacket. Specifically for the blade brake or motion control, where the wire would be pulled by the handle.
Now that's a useful tool! I always made "Z" bends with needle nose pliers. This is super simple and foolproof.

Thanks to you I made the plier type you were showing and it works great! No more using needle noses. Thanks Don
Thanks Donny. I didn't know these type of pliers existed 😵💫

Great little tool...I bet someone will come up with an idea to modify an old pair of pliers to make that bend. Thanks Don!!

I have a Z bender I like it very much.
I haven't found that particular model but, as others say, there are lots of pliers to buy online that do that job.
I can see how these tools would be very useful tom you in your shop!!

I am guilty I am still using a pair of needle nose. I have to get one.

Years ago KD made a tool for all sorts of bends, but it's been extinct for more than 20 years.
How would using the solid wire in place of the wound cable work out? I’m thinking ok short term, but long term?
